The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

AGUELLID has made the frame on all three starts for these connections and the five-year-old has been found an ideal opportunity to get off the mark here. That said, Loustic Du Chatel chased home a useful rival when second at Huntingdon last month and he should not be discounted. Tap Tap Shamie won an Irish point in November and any market support for him on his Rules debut would have to be noted.

Aguellid sets a narrow standard but in the circumstances it may pay to side with LOUSTIC DU CHATEL.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) (11/2 +21%)Man Maid |
11/2(+21%) | (2) Man Maid 11/2, Outpaced, improved on final qualifying run, not knocked about when fourth beaten 16l in a novice hurdle at Chepstow latest; effective 2m on S; type to do better handicapping, may get bit further. Latest 4th in Chepstow novice (2m, soft) was a fair effort; could do better now in h'caps. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SHALFA was second, albeit well held, in a maiden hurdle at Plumpton a couple of weeks ago and that effort suggests that she could play a leading role in a race of this nature on her handicap bow. Plantaroma has not been disgraced on her last couple of starts and may benefit from the application of first-time cheekpieces, while Little Venice completes the shortlist.

This might be the day for Plantaroma but handicap hurdle debutante SHALFA gets the nod.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

With most of these having questions to answer, it is hard to oppose THE LONG POINT. Emma Lavelle's gelding had plenty in hand when winning over 3m at Doncaster a month ago and a 3lb rise for that success may underestimate him. West Orchard failed to fire last time but is a player based on his previous second, while similar comments apply to Doctor Midas.

This is likely best left to THE LONG POINT (nap), who's been getting his act together over fences and surely has more to offer.

Effective at 2m-2m4f on soft and good; yet to match Irish form for his new stable and has more chance back in a handicap. 0-15 over hurdles but on a reduced mark and the Harry Cobden booking catches the eye. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (2) (9/1 -100%)Mammies Boy |
9/1(-100%) | (2) Mammies Boy 9/1, Well backed and not clear run but improved up in trip to land a handicap by a neck off a 3lb lower mark at Warwick last time. Returning from a long layoff; effective at 2m2f-2m5f, acts on a sound surface, though soft ground is a concern. Returns from absence but makes stable debut with new trainer in fine form; could go well. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

LAUGHING JOHN made a successful transition to handicap company when scoring at Doncaster in December and the five-year-old is taken to continue the excellent form of his stable following a 2lb rise. Le Soleil Reve beat the selection in a Junior 'National Hunt' contest at Hereford last February and commands respect following his recent C&D second, while others to note are Mammies Boy and Dirty Den.

The lightly raced 5yo LE SOLEIL REVE was a good second over C&D last month and is taken to go one better today.

Solid second on penultimate start but disappointed next time; soft-ground query too. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

HATOS ran his best race for a while when finishing second at Fontwell and the nine-year-old makes plenty of appeal off 1lb lower in a contest that lacks much depth. Walkinthewoods unseated last time at Ludlow but is better judged on his previous outing over fences when scoring at Plumpton in May. Constant Friday and My Rockstar are others to note.

This is trappy and probably won't take a huge amount of winning. Cases can be made for others but it's worth chancing WHATMAKES HONEY B.

(5) (5/1 -82%)Fan De Blues |
5/1(-82%) | (5) Fan De Blues 5/1, Outpaced but returned to form from a break after a wind operation when second, beaten 4 1/2l, in a hunter chase at Taunton last time. Effective from 2m to 2m6f on soft and good ground and that form has worked out well, giving him strong claims. Second to the smart Unexpected Party at Taunton and that was after a wind operation. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (28/1 -180%)Beat Box |
28/1(-180%) | (1) Beat Box 28/1, More like it when third in a mixed open point at Larkhill last time. Effective around 2m under rules and best on a sound surface but acts with cut. Hard to fancy on recent point evidence, although his handicap form would give him a chance. Useful for Dan Skelton but looks regressive judged on his recent pointing exploits. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (28/1 -75%)Gateau De Miel |
28/1(-75%) | (3) Gateau De Miel 28/1, Hampered by a faller and never involved when well beaten in a handicap chase at Worcester last time. Effective up to 3m2f and acts on soft and good ground. A bounce back is needed and he may need this on his hunter chase debut. Dual chase winner but looks very vulnerable on these terms. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (80/1 -627%)Gig In The Park |
80/1(-627%) | (6) Gig In The Park 80/1, Did not need to improve to get off the mark when winning a maiden point at Cothelstone by 2 1/4l last time. Effective at 2m4f in points and acts on a sound surface. Lightly raced for his age and brings some promise to rules. Found some form in points last spring but this is a belated debut over regulation fences. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

It's hard to get away from FAN DE BLUES, who only found Unexpected Party too good at Taunton last month and if reproducing that level of form, he could prove hard to beat. Thunder Rock was just touched off over 3m1f at this course last time and has to be respected along with Gig In The Park, who was victorious on his last point-to-point outing.

Olly Murphy's THUNDER ROCK appeals as the most likely winner, for all that he may ideally want further these days.

125/1(-346%) | (3) Detroit Bay 125/1, Pulled up in a juvenile hurdle at Taunton on her latest start. 200/1(-400%) | (9) New Virginia 200/1, 9,000 euros Desinvolte filly; half-sister to Astigar, a modest maiden; makes no appeal on debut. Has quite a lot of stamina in the pedigree and yard is not known for bumper winners. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Having offered plenty of encouragement when second on debut at Ludlow, Steal A Glance is slightly more appealing than stablemate Ashburton, who boasts a similar profile. However, there are some intriguing newcomers on show and it could be worth taking a chance on MADAM SPEAKER. Nicky Henderson's filly boasts plenty of speed in her pedigree and market support would increase confidence. Fellow debutants Sister Cecilia and Guste's Dance are others of interest.

Anthoney Honeyball has a strong hand with Ashburton and STEAL A GLANCE but there are also several newcomers who need a close look.
Ths is the racecard key.
