||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (300/1 -140%)Sure To Be Sure |
300/1(-140%) | (4) Sure To Be Sure 300/1, Pulled up in a novice hurdle at Newton Abbot latest; returning from long layoff and undergone a wind op; effective 2m2f on good; major improvement needed. Hasn't shown much in his five starts including two runs over hurdles; can only be watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The three last-start winners stand out and Grand Vendetta's Taunton triumph has been boosted by the runner-up going one better since. He will encounter very different conditions here, though, and SOGNA IN GRANDE might be happier on a quicker surface because he bounced off the top of the ground to win a point-to-point prior to making a successful hurdling debut at Warwick. That form has worked out too. Amatchmadeinheaven struck at the first time of asking for the Twiston-Davies team at Exeter, but needs to prove his stamina.

There are three hurdle winners in the line-up and preference is for GRAND VENDETTA who sets a good standard on his Taunton success.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (11/4 -22%)Jukebox King |
11/4(-22%) | (3) Jukebox King 11/4, Ran to form on handicap debut when fourth beaten 4 1/2l in a hurdle at Warwick latest; effective around 2m4f on good to soft, had a wind op; improvement possible but might want 3m. Unexposed 6yo who was creditable fourth on handicap debut at Warwick (2m5f); interesting. |

Won a Fontwell maiden in October but no impact back in handicaps since; needs to find more. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (3/1 +54%)Twist Of Fatecatch |
3/1(+54%) | (1) Twist Of Fatecatch 3/1, May not have stayed when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Newbury most recent; off a short-break; effective 2m4f, yet to fully convince with stamina for 3m, best on sound surface; not at best of late but ground should suit here. On dangerous mark but he needs a major revival after a short break. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (11/2 -10%)Jena D'oudairies |
11/2(-10%) | (6) Jena D'oudairies 11/2, Better effort down in grade but didn't stay when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Musselburgh last time; off a short-break; effective 2m4f, suited by sound surface; bit to prove, needs this drop back in distance. ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (11/4 +31%)Matthias |

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (50/1 -317%)Wispit Twob |
50/1(-317%) | (8) Wispit Twob 50/1, Never travelled after wind op, may have found ground on the quick side when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Exeter most recent; effective at 2m1f on yielding to soft; must bounce back. Unexposed 4yo but she's struggled for new yard and needs a transformation at this new trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

None of these arrive at the absolute top of their game so the vote goes to JUKEBOX KING, who made a pleasing start to his handicap career at Warwick and can build on that fourth-placing. Matthias is the one making his handicap bow now and the pick of his form, especially a second to Quebecois in an Exeter bumper, would put him high up on the shortlist. Calme Olympien and Geezer Rockstar were well beaten by the same horse at Newbury and Kempton respectively, but this shouldn't be as competitive.

Most of these come with risks attached and it might be worth focusing on the two unexposed runners in Matthias and JUKEBOX KING.

3/1(+14%) | (3) Broomfields Cave 3/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Doncaster latest; effective 3m+, further the better, acts on good to soft, good; progressing until latest and return to drier ground a plus. 15/2(-200%) | (5) Law Of Supply 15/2, Fell late when held in a handicap chase at Hereford latest; returning from a break; effective 3m on a sound surface; chance if benefiting from break. Disputing third when he fell at the last at Hereford in December; respected on his return. |

10/3(+33%) | (1) Loup De Maulde 10/3, Below form back chasing up in trip when fourth beaten 35l in a handicap chase at Warwick latest; effective up to 3m1f, acts on soft and good; drop in trip may help. Well treated on old form but he's returned from long absence with two underwhelming runs. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/4 +21%)Golan Loop |
11/4(+21%) | (2) Golan Loop 11/4, Step back in right direction when 9 1/4l third in a handicap chase at Hereford most recent run; cheekpieces first time; effective 2m4f-3m1f on soft and good; chance if building on latest. Unexposed chaser who won over 3m1f in December; in the mix with cheekpieces added. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (3/1 +63%)Muskoka |
3/1(+63%) | (4) Muskoka 3/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Warwick latest; effective 2m6f-3m1f on good to soft; mark easing but in moderate form. Runner-up over C&D in December but was pulled up at Warwick last time; risks attached. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

A soft-ground Grimthorpe was all too much for BROOMFIELDS CAVE at Doncaster, but he accounted for Muskoka over track and trip on Boxing Day and can resume his progression. Golan Loop went some way to putting a C&D disappointment behind him when third at Hereford, admittedly well held. Loup De Maulde is yet to fire since returning from the sidelines but has dropped to an attractive mark, while Law Of Supply has scope for improvement.

This looks tricky but LAW OF SUPPLY is now 1lb lower than for his last win and he gets the vote ahead of Golan Loop,

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (5/4 +23%)Walkinthepresent |
5/4(+23%) | (5) Walkinthepresent 5/4, Improved to get off the mark back on better ground landing a handicap by 5 1/2l off a 7lb lower mark at Taunton last time; effective 2m4f-3m, acts on soft but likes a sound surface; improving, more to come despite 7lb rise. Hit a clear personal best when scoring at Taunton (3m, good) and he's a major player again. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (20/1 +0%)Stage Show |
20/1(+0%) | (7) Stage Show 20/1, Found ground too testing when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Taunton last time; effective 2m-3m on sound surface; unreliable. Won at Exeter on his penultimate run and he had an excuse on heavy latest; not ruled out. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (5/1 -43%)It's A Breeze |
5/1(-43%) | (1) It's A Breeze 5/1, Best form in 12 months when beaten 2 1/2l off a 2lb lower mark here last time; usually held up; effective 2m-2m5f on a sound surface; can go well again. 0-8 over hurdles but was runner-up behind an improver over C&D last time; dangerous. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (125/1 -25%)All Night Parking |
125/1(-25%) | (4) All Night Parking 125/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Taunton latest; cheekpieces first time; effective 2m6f, acts on good; bit to prove at present. Has failed to complete in his last four runs including at 125-1 in two hurdle handicaps. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

HARRY JUNIOR bounced back from a disappointing effort at Exeter when returning to the same venue and gaining a second career success. The manner of victory suggested further improvement would be likely stepped up in trip and David Pipe's gelding can handle a 5lb rise. Walkinthepresent has improved for going up in distance and is an obvious threat following his Taunton win. C&D runner-up It's A Breeze appeals most of the remainder.

Top of the list is the lightly raced 6yo WALKINTHEPRESENT who hit a clear personal best when landing a Taunton handicap last month.

Well held behind Universal Secret over C&D latest and he's out of the weights here. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (9/2 -35%)Applicationofcash |
9/2(-35%) | (4) Applicationofcash 9/2, Well backed when landing a handicap by 1 1/4l off a 2lb lower mark at Taunton last time; effective 2m-2m4f on a sound surface; can go well again after a small rise. Looked fortunate at Taunton but he remains feasibly treated off 2lb higher; respected. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (7/1 -27%)Rangatira Jack |
7/1(-27%) | (3) Rangatira Jack 7/1, Taken on up front and did plenty early when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Exeter last time; effective 2m-2m4f, acts on soft and good; inconsistent, below last win mark. Won off 2lb higher at Exeter last April but he's been disappointing since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Kingcormac arrives in search of a hat-trick after scoring at Exeter and Hereford last month. The 10-year-old appears likely to be very competitive once again after going up 3lb for the latest of those, but preference is for APPLICATIONOFCASH. He was arguably a fortunate winner at Taunton on yard debut for Gordon Treacy, but it wouldn't be a surprise if stepping back up in trip aided his cause. Universal Secret and Hatos head the remainder.

Preference is for KINGCORMAC (nap) who has won three of his last five and was as good as ever when winning at Hereford last time.

20/1(-25%) | (1) Get In Order 20/1, Never in it from off the pace when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Warwick most recent; effective 2m, acts on good to soft and good; bounce back needed. Unexposed 6yo but he finished out the back on handicap debut at Warwick last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Victory Shout (winner) had the measure of WALK IN THE WEST (second) at Taunton last week, but must shoulder a 7lb penalty and it would come as no great surprise were that form reversed. Prince Rhinegold struck the woodwork here latest and it's quite possible that he will benefit from a return to further. The market can guide regarding Athena's Dream, who sports first-time blinkers for her handicap bow.

Preference is for VICTORY SHOUT who stayed on strongly when landing a gamble in a Taunton handicap last week.

9/1(+64%) | (6) Lord Churchill 9/1, Churchill gelding; half-brother to Lot Of Joy, smart at 21f; dam useful at 12f; tough enough task on debut even in an average race. Plenty to like on paper but yard has a modest strike-rate in bumpers in recent years. |

11/2(+45%) | (4) Posh Chick 11/2, Pulled up in a restricted point at Lower Machen latest; effective at 3m in points; had made a winning debut in points and retains some potential for rules having joined good stable. Won her first point but was pulled in the second one; bit to prove after another break. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (11/10 +0%)Beau Speed |
11/10(+0%) | (2) Beau Speed 11/10, Promising debut runner-up beaten 2l in a maiden bumper at Fakenham only start; effective at 2m on soft; improvement likely. Big market drifter but he was a promising second on Fakenham debut; key player. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (8/1 -60%)Beau Merle |
8/1(-60%) | (1) Beau Merle 8/1, Racinger gelding; dam a French 2m1f hurdles winner; tough enough task on debut with him conceding weight to all bar one. 24,000euros yearling; out of French hurdle winner and market should guide on debut. |

10/3(+63%) | (7) Martial Law 10/3, 6,000 euros Doyen gelding; dam a point and 3m hurdle winner; looks an unlikely winner on debut although worth a market check. Has decent standard to aim at on debut and he could be a longer-term prospect. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

50/1(+0%) | (8) Lissahane Lass 50/1, Bit keen but some promise in a Mares' bumper at Huntingdon only start; improvement needed to win but should take a step forward. 80-1 on Huntingdon debut last month and she finished a well-held seventh of 14. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (4/1 -14%)Crock's Bottom |
4/1(-14%) | (3) Crock's Bottom 4/1, Telescope mare; dam a useful winner over hurdles and fences up to 3m3f; good stable does well here and this one needs considering. Out of a useful 2m4f-3m3f jumps winner; market should reveal expectations on debut. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (150/1 -355%)Blackmore Jack |
150/1(-355%) | (5) Blackmore Jack 150/1, Jack Hobbs gelding; half-brother to Gowan Pudsey, fair at 14f; tough enough task on debut and others preferred. Has fair target to aim at on debut and yard is not know for bumper winners. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Beau Speed hit the woodwork at Fakenham and will prove popular on the back of that performance. Anthony Honeyball does well in bumpers and his point-to-point winner Posh Chick merits respect, but it is CROCK'S BOTTOM who shades preference. Joe Tizzard's string has been in decent form of late and there is more than enough in the daughter of Telescope's profile to believe she could play a leading role on her racecourse bow.

This looks a good opportunity for BEAU SPEED who showed plenty of promise with his debut second at Fakenham in February.
Ths is the racecard key.
