|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (10/1 +0%)Gustav Graves |
10/1(+0%) | (5) Gustav Graves 10/1, Scored by 1/2l off a 3lb lower mark here two starts ago; ran to form when fourth last time and is 1lb lower here; suited by 5f, acts on all-weather; likely to go well over a longer trip. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (11/2 +0%)Waistcoat |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (14/1 +0%)Some Nightmare |
14/1(+0%) | (8) Some Nightmare 14/1, Ran to form when beaten 3/4l off this mark here last time; effective at 5f or 6f, acts on all-weather; Chepstow specialist but inconsistent. Close third over 5f here last month; needs more in today's higher grade. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CARGIN BHUI was backed as if defeat was out of the question over C&D last week and only just failed to justify the support. He is turned out again before his 2lb rise comes into effect and he can take full advantage. Amerjeet is 1lb well-in following a couple of half-length defeats over 5f either side of Christmas here. He does need to prove he truly sees out the extra furlong, though. Gustav Graves and Waistcoat are just two more to consider in a tight little sprint.

This looks a good chance for CARGIN BHUI to atone for last week's C&D second, in a race in which he bumped into a handicap blot.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

10/1(+0%) | (7) Haziym 10/1, Back to form when beaten a neck off a 1lb lower mark at Kempton last time. Trained by a top course handler and usually held up. 13/8(+0%) | (1) Zoulu Warrior 13/8, Ran to form when landing a handicap by 3/4l off a 4lb lower mark here last time. Effective from 5f to 7f and acts on all-weather. Has a good chance off the new mark. Chasing an AW hat-trick and this progressive sprinter is high on the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (14/1 +0%)Toomuchforme |
14/1(+0%) | (3) Toomuchforme 14/1, Remained below 2024 form when beaten 5l in a handicap here last time. Effective at 6f and acts on all-weather, but yet to recapture 2yo form. Sliding down weights and latest run was more encouraging; others are still more appealing. |

25/1(+0%) | (4) Cast No Shadow 25/1, A bit keen and below form when beaten 5l in a handicap at Newcastle last time. Effective at 5f and handles all-weather, though hard to fancy on recent evidence. On a lowly mark but failed to beat a rival in two 5f runs back from a 280-day absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

ZOULU WARRIOR continued on his upward curve when supplementing a Southwell triumph over C&D, for which the assessor has bumped him up a further 4lb. He has only been doing just enough so the rise may not stop him from completing the hat-trick. Court Of Session and Invincible Melody both filled the runner-up berth at Southwell last weekend and are in the mix for more prize money. Haziym returned to form at Kempton, and Addarella is in with a shout too.

Invincible Melody can go well again but this looks good for the progressive hat-trick seeker ZOULU WARRIOR (nap).

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Kullazain had Coachello and Many A Star back in third and fourth when showing the benefit of a gelding operation over C&D. He has a 5lb penalty to contend with, whereas Justcallmepete is 3lb higher after completing a three-timer at Chelmsford. The latter has improved since being pipped by EMINENCY at Windsor back in the autumn, but so has the winner and Stuart Williams' grey is fancied to capitalise on being able to compete off the same mark as when just denied at Southwell last week. Keep Carbine Harvester in mind too.

The in-form JUSTCALLMEPETE is taken to complete a four-timer by beating Zoulu Chief and Kullazain.

11/1(+0%) | (4) Market House 11/1, Fair effort back on the Flat when beaten 4l off this mark here last time; second run after wind surgery; effective around 12f; the step back up in trip may help. Never dangerous over 9.5f here latest but better expected back up in distance. |

14/1(+0%) | (2) Light Speed 14/1, Ran to form when beaten 3l off a 1lb higher mark at Newcastle last time; effective from 8f to 11f; a return to best is needed. On winning mark; ran well over 1m3f which offers hope for this new, longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (16/1 +0%)Jodhpur Blue |
16/1(+0%) | (7) Jodhpur Blue 16/1, Ran to form when beaten 2l off this mark at Chelmsford last time; effective from 7f to 10f; stamina still to prove. Not beaten far at Chelmsford last week but stamina for this trip has to be taken on trust. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (20/1 +0%)Bystander |
20/1(+0%) | (1) Bystander 20/1, Well below form when well beaten in a handicap at Chelmsford last time; effective from 8f to 10f; looks up against it. Hard to gauge how much ability remains and although he's down in class, this is a new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(12) (20/1 +0%)The Sweet Escape |
20/1(+0%) | (12) The Sweet Escape 20/1, Bit below best when beaten 6l in a handicap here last time; tongue-tie on for the first time; effective from 7f to 9f; inconsistent maiden. Has the ability to win a small race but this step up in trip is far from certain to suit. |

40/1(+0%) | (11) Flaine 40/1, Scored by a head off a 1lb lower mark here in October; took a step back in the right direction last time despite never travelling; 1lb lower here and may have more to offer at this trip. Two 9.5f wins here last autumn; stamina concerns over 1m4f; no tongue-tie/new headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (10/1 0%)Nivelle's Magic |
10/1(0%) | (9) Nivelle's Magic 10/1, Ran to form when beaten a neck off a 1lb lower mark at Kempton last time; effective over 12f; consistent and another good run looks likely. Not much room for error off this mark but likely she will give her running once again. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

OMAN was a comfortable winner over an extended nine furlongs here last month and should have no issues stepping back up in trip. A 7lb rise still leaves him on a workable mark based on past ratings and another bold bid looks assured. Gemmari strolled home by six and a half lengths over 1m6f at Chelmsford last week, while Francesco Baracca warrants serious consideration after impressing over the same trip here 10 days ago.

Recent 1m6f winners FRANCESCO BARACCA and Gemmari are ahead of the handicapper and can fight out the finish.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (33/1 +0%)Dosman |
33/1(+0%) | (2) Dosman 33/1, Made late gains up in grade when running to form, beaten 5l in a handicap at Kempton last time. Usually held up and effective at 7/8f on a sound surface. Not one to rely on. 11lb lower than when 2nd in strong AW h'cap last June; promise on yard debut; interesting. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The most alluring option is BELA SONATA, who has won two of her four previous starts and could have more to offer. Keeping the daughter of Sergei Prokofiev in training suggests connections mean business with the low-mileage four-year-old, who won when fresh last summer and has previous course experience. Shiplake and Bell Shot proved their worth with last-time out wins, although the latter has a 4lb penalty and top weight to contend with. Little Empire and Mythical Composer are others of interest in a competitive affair.

Dosman is interesting at the likely odds but BELA SONATA, the least exposed runner in the field, looked good when last seen.

Suited by 7–8f on a sound surface; on a workable mark if bouncing back. Multiple winner down the years but he is drawn wide now stepping back up in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (25/1 +0%)Brunel Nation |
25/1(+0%) | (3) Brunel Nation 25/1, Again below his 2024 best when beaten 8 1/4l in a handicap at Chelmsford last time. Cheekpieces applied for the first time. Effective at 7f and acts on all-weather; currently out of form. Quiet in two runs this winter but now drops in class with headgear tried; good draw. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (15/2 -15%)Ziggy's Condor |
15/2(-15%) | (2) Ziggy's Condor 15/2, Ran to form when beaten 3l off this mark here last time. Effective at 6–7f and acts on good to soft, good and all-weather ground. Consistent of late. Has placed form over the trip but he hasn't always looked the strongest stayer. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Several of these have been expensive to follow, not least Al Rufaa, whose faithful supporters need to hope first-time cheekpieces draw something extra now he reverts to 7f. Vince Lombardi has a more recent success (6f) to his name and going back up in distance might be a source of improvement. However, slender preference is for the less-exposed STAR OF MALI, a 7f winner on his penultimate start. He'll be a big player if he keeps his keenness under control. The penalised Revolutionise completes the shortlist.

It's a competitive race but STAR OF MALI should have more to offer after just three runs at the trip. Bill Plumb is next best.

Return to 6f should suit and she has run three solid races for her new stable; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (7/1 +0%)Monsieur Kodi |
7/1(+0%) | (5) Monsieur Kodi 7/1, Ran to form when beaten 1 1/4l off this mark at Newcastle last time in first-time cheekpieces; effective from 6f to 7f and acts on all-weather; remains on a competitive mark. Multiple sprint winner but stays an easy 7f; should be in the thick of it once again. |

Running well at Newcastle of late and has run well here in the past; each-way shout again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (9/1 +0%)Simply Blue |
9/1(+0%) | (10) Simply Blue 9/1, Won by 1/2l off a 4lb higher mark here in October; did best work late when sixth last time off the same mark; effective over 7f to 8f and acts on all-weather; looks in need of a return to 8f. Dangerous mark but he has been getting going too late in recent starts. |

(2) (11/2 -10%)He's A Gentleman |
11/2(-10%) | (2) He's A Gentleman 11/2, Won by a length off a 3lb lower mark here three starts ago; never competitive when ninth last time from the same mark; effective over 7f, acts on all-weather; needs to bounce back. Anticipated start & susbsequently poorly positioned latest; earlier form gives him claims. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

ARANTES NASCIMENTO has filled second place on his last two starts and it would be no surprise to see him go one better on this occasion. Monsieur Kodi has been running well in defeat of late and is likely to make the frame once again, while Bajan Bandit edges out Bella Bisbee and He's A Gentleman to be best of the rest.

Monsieur Kodi is high on the list but ARANTES NASCIMENTO may gain compensation for some recent near misses.

STELLENBOSCH was only beaten a head into second when trying to follow up her Chelmsford win at this venue shortly before Christmas. The in-form filly may have more to offer now stepped back up in trip and she clearly remains on a workable mark. North View has to be noted on his debut for these connections, while Benacre and Towerlands are also considered.

This can go to the unexposed SEA FOUNDER who won a decent Windsor maiden on his reappearance last season.

Most of these have valid claims, but none more so than TONAL. Ian Williams' gelding has won four of his last five starts, filling second place on the other occasion, and the progressive six-year-old may be capable of defying a 5lb penalty for his latest victory. Advancing is another recent winner who has to be high on the shortlist as he remains unexposed. Phone Tag, Urban Road and My Fermoy are others to note.

In an open race the in-form MY FERMOY is taken to score from last week's course winner Tonal and the unexposed Advancing.
Ths is the racecard key.
