80/1(-21%) | (9) Purple Sky 80/1, Never in the race beaten 7l in a handicap here last time; effective 10f, may not get further; inconsistent in Ireland, bit to prove for new yard. Has failed to back up the form of sole Irish win; enough to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

A chance can be taken on BOOK OF LIFE, who has twice shaped with promise at Newcastle since the turn of the year. Patrick Morris' charge was rated a whopping 30lb higher back in the spring of 2024 and, although not the easiest to win with, this looks like a decent opportunity. Ardaddy has been a model of consistency in recent starts and must enter calculations, as must Amarachi, who went agonisingly close at Chelmsford a couple of weeks ago.

Off a handy mark back up in distance, PESSOA is taken to record a seventh course win. Rainwater is second pick.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (17/2 -6%)Ultramarine |
17/2(-6%) | (2) Ultramarine 17/2, Travelled strongly but too much to do having met trouble when closing beaten 2l off a 1lb higher mark at Kempton last time; effective 6/7f, acts on any; should come on for latest. Shaped well on reappearance; interesting with Toby Moore taking off a handy 7lb. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (11/1 -10%)Revolutionise |
11/1(-10%) | (7) Revolutionise 11/1, Scored by a length off a 4lb lower mark at Chelmsford penultimate start; far too free last time, same mark here; suited by 7f, acts on a sound surface; generally consistent. Veteran whose form dipped last time when bidding for a Chelmsford double. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (22/1 -83%)Trouble Man |
22/1(-83%) | (3) Trouble Man 22/1, Long way below form down the field in a handicap at Newcastle most recent; cheekpieces first time; effective 5/6f, acts on AW; mark slowly easing but stamina concerns. Chance partly depends on how well he responds to first-time headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(11) (40/1 -150%)Chifa |
40/1(-150%) | (11) Chifa 40/1, Scored by a length off a 3lb lower mark here penultimate start; poorly placed off steady pace last time, same mark here; effective at 7f, acts on AW; veteran in form until latest. Somewhat hindered by early trouble last time when bidding for C&D hat-trick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(12) (40/1 +20%)Harbour Vision |
40/1(+20%) | (12) Harbour Vision 40/1, Scored by a short-head off a 3lb lower mark here penultimate start; never went a yard for claimer last time; suited by 7/8f, acts on sound surface; very quirky ride, goes best for Kieran O'Neill. Suited by this venue but it's nearly seven years since last win in this grade. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

BENACRE was able to build on an encouraging second-placed effort to go one better at Newcastle three weeks ago. Despite only winning by a head, Charlie Johnston's gelding was always in control and might have been underestimated by a 1lb rise. Maximising was back in fourth that day but is open to greater improvement than the selection, while Abduction and Beattie Is Back also have form ties with Benacre and must not be overlooked.

Back up in trip with Toby Moore taking off a useful 7lb, ULTRAMARINE is the suggestion. Giorgio M is second choice.

(4) (12/1 +64%)Bu Hail |
12/1(+64%) | (4) Bu Hail 12/1, Too green to show anything on debut well beaten in a novice at Salisbury only start; returning from a break; difficult to fancy. 22-1 and green on his 2yo debut last October (7f); bred to do much better at some stage. |

22/1(-22%) | (3) Ay Up Duck 22/1, 18,000gns Earthlight gelding; half-brother to Clockwatcher, fair from 12f to 16f; dam very useful at 8f; likely to need more time. 18,000gns half-brother to AW winner Clockwatcher; dam a Listed winner; likely best watched. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (66/1 -65%)The Ubermensch |
66/1(-65%) | (2) The Ubermensch 66/1, Very similar run to debut beaten 10l in a maiden at Kempton last time; speed on sire's side, stamina on dam's; could be flattered by down the field ratings so far. Modest form in two 1m Kempton maidens this year; minor handicaps beckon. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Miss Lady Grace has run well on a number of occasions so far and can give another good account of herself, but she sets only a modest standard and STARGLOW is preferred. Charlie Appleby's colt is closely related to Group 3 winner and French Guineas-fourth Romantic Style amongst others, so it's likely he'll be good enough to land this. Bu Hail made a low-key introduction at Salisbury in October, but switching to the all-weather on the back of a 148-day absence might bring about some improvement.

Miss Lady Grace should give her running again but STARGLOW is bred to be useful and can make a winning debut.

4/1(-14%) | (5) Runninman 4/1, Game in a visor but probably went too fast early beaten 4l off a 1lb higher mark at Newcastle last time; probably effective 6/7f, acts on AW, best making running; tends to go too hard in front. Went off quick dropped to 6f last time and paid the price late on; more exposed than some. |

(7) (7/1 +30%)Kanes A Lott |
7/1(+30%) | (7) Kanes A Lott 7/1, Went far too fast in front in visor well beaten in a handicap here latest; effective 6/7f, acts on AW; needs to settle in retained headgear. Not solid but there have been flashes of promise; drops in trip with Sean Levey booked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (11/1 -69%)He Bangs The Drums |
11/1(-69%) | (10) He Bangs The Drums 11/1, Went too fast early well beaten in a handicap at Southwell latest; similar form 5/6f though latter stretches stamina, acts on AW, likes to lead; may improve rating if settles better. Modest eight-race maiden; dropping down the weights but he has a point to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (12/1 -100%)Coparisi |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(11) (25/1 -56%)Magnificent Mel |
25/1(-56%) | (11) Magnificent Mel 25/1, Probably didn't stay beaten 7l in a handicap at Kempton last time; effective 6f, acts on AW; needs this return to shorter and could go well at a price. Return to 6f in her favour but peak RPR of 43 confirms she needs a good step forward. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Kevin Ryan's yard is back among the winners and COPARISI is fancied to make a bold bid on her return to action. Beaten only a neck at Redcar in October, the unexposed daughter of Ardad is likely to prove competitive off her current mark. Elashgar is another with plenty of scope handicapping for the first time, while Doilookokay could be seen in a better light with a recent comeback fourth at Newcastle under his belt.

Kanes A Lott could fare better dropped back to 6f but TRUCIAL PEARL is taken to build on last month's promising Southwell fourth.

(2) (1/1 +43%)Cayman Tai |
1/1(+43%) | (2) Cayman Tai 1/1, Bit too much to do having blown start but ran to form down in trip beaten a length off this mark at Lingfield last time; suited by 6f, probably has pace for 5f, acts on any; capable but form erratic, well treated off unchanged mark. Poor strike-rate but more than enough ability to win at this level; slow starts last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (4/1 +20%)Hint Of Humour |
4/1(+20%) | (3) Hint Of Humour 4/1, Scored by 3/4l off a 3lb lower mark here in November; refused to settle last time and on same mark here; top course trainer; suited by 5f, acts on AW; filly on the up and major player. In good form since last August but she needs a personal best to defy this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (6/1 +57%)Phoenix Beach |
6/1(+57%) | (7) Phoenix Beach 6/1, Never threatened beaten 4 1/4l in a handicap at Newcastle last time; best at 5f, acts on AW; needs to get fractions right but mark is easing. Conditions ideal, on good mark and better drawn than on last visit here; leading contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (9/1 -125%)Way To Dubai |
9/1(-125%) | (1) Way To Dubai 9/1, Scored by 2 1/4l off a 5lb lower mark at Lingfield three starts back; too much to do having conceded first run last time, same mark here; effective 6-8f, acts on AW; in form, needs more off this mark. Arrives in good form but dropping down to 5f for the first time isn't sure to suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (10/1 -11%)Gustav Graves |
10/1(-11%) | (6) Gustav Graves 10/1, Scored by 1/2l off a 1lb lower mark here in December; below form up in class sixth beaten 4l off 62 last time, 1lb lower here; suited by 5f, acts on AW; generally consistent, still above last winning mark. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (11/1 -22%)Beaumadier |
11/1(-22%) | (4) Beaumadier 11/1, Every chance, bit below form beaten 4 1/4l in a handicap at Lingfield last time; in good form prior; wide draw; effective at 5f, acts on AW; has generally been in good form, could go well again. Conditions to suit and edging back down the weights; widest stall to overcome though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (25/1 -150%)Popular Dream |
25/1(-150%) | (5) Popular Dream 25/1, Scored by a length off a 2lb lower mark at Southwell in January; every chance, bit below form sixth beaten 3 1/4l off 66 last time, 1lb lower here; effective at 5f, best on AW; in form but mark may be high enough. Four Southwell wins but unplaced in five C&D runs; Gustav Graves may be stable's main hope. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Second at Lingfield recently, Cayman Tai can race off an unchanged mark and another good account looks assured. Beaumadier could also shape well having finished fourth when last seen over C&D, while the 2024 winner GUSTAV GRAVES ran into all kinds of trouble in a tougher contest here a fortnight ago. Only 1lb higher than when successful at the track in December, Derek Shaw's sprinter looks worthy of another chance back at this level.

Cayman Tai is a key player if breaking on terms but PHOENIX BEACH saves his best for this C&D and he is well handicapped now.

Ran creditably over C&D most recently; possibilities if taking well to first-time headgear. |

(8) (10/3 +44%)Market House |
10/3(+44%) | (8) Market House 10/3, Too much to do down in trip but ran to form beaten a length off this mark at Lingfield last time; trainer in form; effective around 12-17f, acts on AW; not ruled out if getting decent test. Form this winter suggests he's coming back to the boil, close third at Lingfield last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (7/2 -100%)Francesco Baracca |
7/2(-100%) | (1) Francesco Baracca 7/2, Did it readily and improved again up in trip landing a handicap by 3/4l off a 4lb lower mark here last time; effective 14-17f; good chance in hat-trick bid if getting stiff test. Scored at Wolverhampton (1m6f/2m) in three of his last five starts; 1m4f winner in 2024. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (7/1 +7%)Don Simon |
7/1(+7%) | (4) Don Simon 7/1, Made too much use of beaten 5l in a handicap at Kempton last time; stays 14f and probably needs stiff test/slow ground at 12f, acts on AW; fair maiden who retains potential. Lightly raced 5yo whose 2025 form suggests this reappearance may be the time to catch him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (14/1 +58%)Intinso |
14/1(+58%) | (2) Intinso 14/1, Continued in poor form beaten 9 1/2l in a handicap at Newcastle last time; effective 12-14f; regressive. Remains far from solid on his form for current stable; was useful for previous yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (28/1 -12%)Thankyou Baroness |
28/1(-12%) | (7) Thankyou Baroness 28/1, Outclassed up in grade down the field in a handicap at Lingfield most recent; suited by 12f, acts on fast ground; needs more off this mark. Returns to an easier level but still hasn't backed up the form of her Doncaster win. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

FRANCESCO BARACCA has done most of his winning over further, but he is versatile regarding distance and dropping back down to 1m4f should be within range as he bids for a hat-trick of course wins. The son of Golden Horn has also performed well at this level and stepping back up in class shouldn't be much of an issue either. Gemmari won readily at Chelmsford but an 8lb rise looks harsh. Therefore, Pride Of Donegal could be a bigger danger if the first-time visor draws improvement.

Seasonal debutant DON SIMON is an interesting alternative to some in-form rivals which include the solid-looking Pride Of Donegal.

(1) (9/4 +44%)Inherent Resolve |
9/4(+44%) | (1) Inherent Resolve 9/4, Dropped in from wide draw, never threatened looking to want stiffer test beaten 9l in a novice at Southwell last time; should get 1m+, yet to prove it, seems to act on AW; promise penultimate start and open to improvement. Justify colt who looks open to improvement now handicapping; interesting. |

(2) (4/1 -78%)High Chieftain |
4/1(-78%) | (2) High Chieftain 4/1, Touch disappointing out-kicked off slow pace when fourth beaten 5 1/4l in a novice at Lingfield latest; effective 7f, may get further, give will suit; workmanlike sort with good attitude, may need stiffer tests such as this. Possibilities, provided he belies pedigree by staying this new trip. |

(4) (15/2 -67%)Sup Of Red |
15/2(-67%) | (4) Sup Of Red 15/2, Touch outpaced and lot to do beaten 1 1/4l off this mark here last time; effective 7f, mile may suit better, acts on AW; entitled to improve from recent run. Eye-catching fourth at Wolverhampton on stable/seasonal debut; major player. |

(5) (10/1 +38%)Spirit Of Mara |
10/1(+38%) | (5) Spirit Of Mara 10/1, Ridden with more restraint and saw out 7f well beaten 4l off a 2lb higher mark here last time; effective 6/7f, latter may suit, acts on AW; largely consistent and mark more sensible now. Signs of improvement over 7f here last time; could go well with longer trip likely to suit. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

ANEIRIN'S SWORD has filled the runner-up berth three times since winning at Chelmsford in early January and stepping the three-year-old up to a slightly longer trip, with cheekpieces added, could break the hoodoo. There has been very little to crab about his individual performances and a race such as this should be within his range. High Chieftain and Inherent Resolve are handicap debutants to monitor in the betting market, although Sup Of Red is more wily and could be a bigger danger on just her second start for Adrian Wintle.

Having caught the eye and looked a shade unlucky at Wolverhampton on her debut for Adrian Wintle, SUP OF RED (nap) gets the vote.
Ths is the racecard key.
