(8) (125/1 -150%)Noble Phoenix |
125/1(-150%) | (8) Noble Phoenix 125/1, Never involved down the field in a handicap here most recent; has lost enthusiasm and hard to make a case for. Ex-Andrew Balding; yet to hit form for this yard and is best watched at present. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Yorkstone benefited from first-time cheekpieces when scoring at Newcastle in a classified event, although more will be required of him on the return to handicap company. With that in mind, FIRCOMBE HALL is preferred. The eight-year-old ran with credit when third here last week and this seems to be a winnable contest on paper. Instant Bond appears best of the remainder.

In a race that doesn't make a great deal of appeal, ELDEYAAR is taken to win his fourth race over this C&D.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (125/1 -89%)Lightning Hooves |
125/1(-89%) | (3) Lightning Hooves 125/1, Never in it from off the pace down the field in a maiden at Kempton most recent; bred for 7-8f+; up against it on evidence to date. Has been gelded since two poor AW runs over 7f last autumn; best watched for now. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SOVEREIGN SPELL was disqualified for his Windsor success in August and ran well on his nursery bow when placed at Doncaster the following month. Connections take advantage of the fact he can run in a maiden and he is expected to be tough to beat. Royal Poetry shaped well on her racecourse bow at Southwell and looks the most likely threat to the selection. Others to consider are Gris De Chine and Cosmic Jive.

After showing plenty of ability on turf last season, SOVEREIGN SPELL should prove hard to beat on his AW debut.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(13) (80/1 -186%)Annexation |
80/1(-186%) | (13) Annexation 80/1, Step back in right direction but didn't get home up in trip beaten 6l in a handicap at Kempton last time; top course trainer; effective around 10f, acts on sound surface; handicapper relenting but needs more. An eight-time winner but a 10yo now and opposable on this winter's exploits. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (80/1 -100%)Nedita |
80/1(-100%) | (10) Nedita 80/1, Reported to have bled down the field in a handicap at Southwell most recent; trainer in form; effective 8f on AW, yet to prove as effective on turf; all to prove at present. Dual AW winner in Ireland; tailed off at big odds for stable debut at Southwell. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

AL DURRY has progressed with each start so far and returned from a break to score at the third time of asking at Southwell in October. The manner of that performance suggests an opening mark of 80 is workable and Owen Burrows' filly is likely to benefit from stepping up in trip. King's Hand raced keenly when fourth at Kempton and the drop in distance looks a positive, while Serious Look's success here at the start of the month gives him every chance.

This looks wide open. TRIBAL WISDOM always merits a second look at this track and you can put a line through his last run.

(2) (5/2 -33%)Bergamo Gold |
5/2(-33%) | (2) Bergamo Gold 5/2, Improved again in landing a handicap by 1/2l off a 3lb lower mark here last time; suited by 10f, acts on AW; possibly still a bit to come. Has won her last two starts, latest off 4lb lower over C&D; should go well again. |

Improved form to finish 2nd over 8.5f here on h'cap debut; this longer trip should suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (80/1 -264%)Frustration |
80/1(-264%) | (5) Frustration 80/1, Up in trip, keen and probably needed the run when well beaten in a novice here latest; likely to want 8-10f; yet to show any reliable form. Well beaten, last time on stable debut over C&D; needs to improve on handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

BERGAMO GOLD is developing nicely and supplemented a Lingfield triumph over C&D. She is another 3lb higher as she goes in search of a hat-trick, but is worth sticking with while at the top of her game. Pangbourne wasn't fancied at all on her handicap debut, but gave an odds-on shot a fright here and could do even better for the slight rise in distance. Risk Averse Rebel hasn't been far behind the selection or Pangbourne this month so has to enter the equation as well.

The suggestion is PANGBOURNE, who showed improved form on her handicap debut here and should improve again over this longer trip.

Unraced on AW; both siblings won on artificial surfaces; may need to improve off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (11/2 +50%)Saucy Jane |
11/2(+50%) | (6) Saucy Jane 11/2, Every chance, tired late off a break beaten 2l off a 1lb higher mark at Kempton last time; effective 5/6f, acts on sound surfaces; could easily come on from return run. Won 5f maiden last May; some good efforts later but likely needs improvement to win. |

(8) (20/1 -167%)Nifty |
20/1(-167%) | (8) Nifty 20/1, Ran to form back up in trip beaten 2l off this mark here last time; suited by 6f and a sound surface; good mark based on novice form, could build on latest. Two 6f wins as 2yo; creditable show over 6f here in October; not ruled out back at 5f. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Moe's Legacy burst back into life on her return to the all-weather here and is more than capable of backing a good performance up. Even so, ANGEL NUMBERS is preferred because she was a place ahead of Ophelia Grace when third over C&D in November and made a reappearance that promised much, going down by half a length, again over track and trip. Sam's Hope is rarely too far away, while Nifty, Nad Alshiba Green and Layla Liz all make some appeal on the back of absences of varying lengths.

Layla Liz can go well from the front but MOE'S LEGACY (nap) was better than ever when winning over C&D recently and is preferred.

(9) (33/1 -32%)Spinning Dancer |
33/1(-32%) | (9) Spinning Dancer 33/1, Again ran to moderate level beaten 9l in a classified race here last time; trainer in form; off a short-break; effective 8-10f, acts on AW; needs more. Maiden; some good AW runs in the second half of 2025 but well held on last two starts. |

(4) (80/1 -60%)Galette |
80/1(-60%) | (4) Galette 80/1, Another poor run well beaten in a classified race at Lingfield latest; effective 6-8f on a sound surface; bounce back needed. Maiden; back to form when 3rd over 7f here last month; up against it at the weights. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Hold-up performer ALPINE SIERRA shouldn't be inconvenienced by a wide draw and might prove too strong down in classified company, especially after going agonisingly close in a handicap at Newcastle on Friday. Pebble Dash kept on well to finish second over 7f at the same venue so makes plenty of appeal. The consistent Man Is King should also be in the mix.

Alpine Sierra is dangerous on his recent Newcastle form but LHEBAYEB can enhance a good C&D strike-rate in the last 12 months.

(10) (100/1 -100%)Morning Suit |
100/1(-100%) | (10) Morning Suit 100/1, Again nearer last than first down the field in a classified race at Southwell most recent; best at 6f, seems to just about stay 7f; been poor for quite some time. 6f winner on Polytrack as 2yo; modest form since summer 2024; stamina query over new trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

First Encounter and Captain Pickles have won two of their last three starts, both at classified level, and are respected back in a handicap but preference is for SCEPTIC. Ian Williams' six-year-old didn't run too badly over C&D last time, but he drops in class from 1lb lower and might be able to take another step forward. Take The A Train is worth a second look too.

Sceptic is quite interesting off his current mark but CAPTAIN PICKLES is taken to make it three wins from his last four starts.
Ths is the racecard key.
