10/3(-33%) | (4) Very Mindful 10/3, Seemed to pick up late when winner went clear and second beaten 7 1/2l in a maiden here latest; cheekpieces first time; may do better Twice best of the rest behind odds-on winners; holds claims in first-time headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (66/1 -32%)Lava Crystal |
66/1(-32%) | (7) Lava Crystal 66/1, Green and 15l fourth in a maiden at Brighton first-time out; lot more needed to make any impact Trainer boasts a poor strike-rate with 2yos on the AW; needs to improve a lot on debut run. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

VERY MINDFUL failed to help her cause when rearing at the start here last time. She recovered to finish runner-up, albeit a long way behind the winner, but the daughter of Havana Gold may improve with cheekpieces applied for the first time and gets another chance. Gillali Lass is a likely improver having shown ability when fourth at Beverley on her introduction. Flowerhead and Flying Macs are newcomers to note.

It wouldn't be any surprise were one of the newcomers up to winning but otherwise GILLALI LASS can build on last Monday's debut fourth.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (5/2 +55%)Pure Theory |
5/2(+55%) | (4) Pure Theory 5/2, Couple of decent novice efforts last twice, latterly beaten 7l over 8f at Kempton; first time on Tapeta; up in trip; outside chance Promise in both AW starts; pedigree quite positive for step up in trip; of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (20/1 -100%)Star Cast |
20/1(-100%) | (2) Star Cast 20/1, Probably needed race well beaten in a maiden over 8f at Newcastle on seasonal debut; up in trip; should strip fitter and do better Improved with each run for previous yard; last of 8 on return (1m); big step up in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CHILLI QUEEN was no match for an odds-on favourite when second over 1m3f at Kempton, but she appears to have an easier opportunity in this company. Emma Lavelle's charge was doing her best work in the closing stages on that occasion, so this extra furlong will likely bring further progress. The returning Pure Theory could also improve for this longer trip, while newcomer Coedana is worthy of a second glance.

This looks a much easier assignment for CHILLI QUEEN than against hotpots on her last two starts and she can take full advantage.

1st (1) (1/2 +45%)Scarlet Moon |
1/2(+45%) | (1) Scarlet Moon 1/2, Benefited from a positive ride landing a handicap by a neck off 73 over 12f at Kempton last time; top jockey on board and progressing Much improved this spring; shows a good attitude; longer trip should be fine on pedigree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/2 -50%)King Kernow |
9/2(-50%) | (3) King Kernow 9/2, Suited by the step-up in trip when second beaten 2l in a maiden over 12f here latest; even further this time could bring more Better as he's gained experience and gone up in trip; should be competitive off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (7/1 -40%)Ray Gun |
7/1(-40%) | (2) Ray Gun 7/1, Scored by a length off 61 over 12f at Kempton in February and has backed that up many times since over 12f; reliable type, but 14f is an unknown Below-par in cheekpieces (retained) last time; tonight's longer trip looks within range. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/1 -13%)Moonlit Stage |
9/1(-13%) | (4) Moonlit Stage 9/1, Probably needed race comfortably held in a handicap over 10f at Lingfield on reappearance; in good form at the end of 2024; may contend now stripping fitter Well held on his comeback but this is less competitive going right up in distance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

King Kernow finished a respectable second here on last month's reappearance and another good effort looks assured. However, the winner of that race was subsequently beaten over 1m4f at Kempton by SCARLET MOON, and the latter makes more appeal. Archie Watson's charge came out best in a fight to the line and gave the strong impression this extra test of stamina would suit. Ray Gun is preferred to Moonlit Stage.

Having shown the right attitude last week SCARLET MOON can complete the hat-trick under a penalty. King Kernow is the main danger.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (14/1 +30%)Trusty Scout |
14/1(+30%) | (11) Trusty Scout 14/1, Slowly away beaten 4l off 51 here last time; that about reflects level of recent form and makes mark look stiff Returned from more than a year off in good form and the step back up to further will suit. |

6/1(-118%) | (2) Spirit Of Bowland 6/1, Improved again when landing a handicap by 4l off 50 over 8f at Southwell last time easing down; trainer in form; not proven trip, but looks well handicapped again Hammered with a 10lb rise; this strong traveller now has to prove his stamina up from 1m. |

7/1(+22%) | (7) Strategic Fortune 7/1, Scored by 1/2l off 55 here penultimate start; eigth beaten 16l off 57 last time; goes well here; may contend Four-time C&D winner; said to have been unsuited by racing wide latest; can do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (20/1 +9%)Valkyrja |
20/1(+9%) | (3) Valkyrja 20/1, Comfortably held in a novice over 7f at Lingfield last time out in August; returning from long layoff; first time on Tapeta; up in trip; plenty to prove Longer trip is far from assured on pedigree; want to see support before considering her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (12/1 +52%)Myna |
12/1(+52%) | (6) Myna 12/1, Probably needed race down the field in a handicap over 10f at Leicester on reappearance; top course trainer; first time on Tapeta; needs to get back to form now fitter Pulled away his chances for his new yard recently and can do better if more amenable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (28/1 +0%)Pocket Too |
28/1(+0%) | (4) Pocket Too 28/1, Below par comfortably held in a novice over 7f at Southwell last time off a break; usually consistent; up in trip; fair mark This more realistic and market confidence on his handicap debut should be noted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (80/1 -100%)Luna Dipinta |
80/1(-100%) | (9) Luna Dipinta 80/1, Looked to want further down the field in a handicap over 8f at Kempton most recent run, but generally poor form; first time on Tapeta; needs to improve Well beaten at a big price on her return from a layoff recently; goes back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (40/1 -21%)Laser Focus |
40/1(-21%) | (5) Laser Focus 40/1, Comfortably held in a handicap over 1m6f here last time and has appeared not to stay 14f; down in trip; not proven on AW; plenty of questions to answer String of poor runs on the Flat since two wins over hurdles last November; hard to fancy. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Serious Look won for the first time since September 2022 over C&D last month and, with Rab Havlin keeping the ride, he can go well, despite an added 5lb. Pocket Too makes his handicap debut after finding everything happening too quickly over 7f at Southwell and he could be interesting back up in trip, but GUINNESS LAD might have the edge. Slowly away at Windsor, he did well to come home second and, off the same mark, a decent start may be all he needs.

Strong in the market ahead of his C&D comeback, SERIOUS LOOK (nap) can follow up. A 10lb rise will test Spirit Of Bowland.

7/1(-100%) | (7) Pessoa 7/1, Ideally suited by trip when scored by a length off 51 over 7f here three starts back; little bit below since that, but does go well here and can be thereabouts Five-time course winner (four over the extended 7f); little wiggle room off this mark. |

3rd (4) (7/1 +36%)Three Yorkshiremen |
7/1(+36%) | (4) Three Yorkshiremen 7/1, Beaten 5l in a handicap over 10f at Chelmsford last time, that reflecting current form; needs to find a bit more to win this Handicapper giving him every chance but he's regressed since wind surgery. |

5th (6) (22/1 -175%)Monkmoor Pip |
22/1(-175%) | (6) Monkmoor Pip 22/1, Below par beaten 5l in a handicap over 8f at Southwell last time out way back in April 2024; well handicapped at best, but off a very long break Entitled to need this first run in more than a year; want to see some market interest. |

9/2(+25%) | (2) Eden Storm 9/2, Keen beaten 2 1/4l off 62 over 7f here last time; consistent; goes well here; up in trip; chance Regressive and doesn't look the easiest these days; also has stamina to prove. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (7/1 +7%)Snooze Lane |
7/1(+7%) | (9) Snooze Lane 7/1, Raced freely beaten 6l in a handicap here last time; generally out of form; up in trip; off a short-break; hard to like C&D victory last April came off a 6lb higher mark; bolder showing wouldn't surprise. |

33/1(-560%) | (3) Desert Raider 33/1, Raced freely beaten a neck off 58 over 8f at Newcastle last time on reappearance; up in trip; may come on for that run and contender Pleasing comeback at 40-1 but that was a muddling affair and he has to prove his stamina. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Pessoa has a good record here with five victories over shorter, but he is yet to score over this trip and might have to settle for a place. SNOOZE LANE has won four of his 31 starts, three of them over C&D and all off higher marks, and he may make it five back up in distance to put a poor ninth in February behind him. Desert Raider was a neck second at Newcastle recently and could get involved if he stays this far at the first attempt.

Easy to pick holes in most of these and HAVE YOU A MINUTE gets the nod. Pessoa has often pulled hard when going this far before.

20/1(+0%) | (11) Blue Jay Way 20/1, Raced freely beaten 5l in a handicap here last time; not proven on AW; not in great form and mark bit too testing Inclined to pull hard in two runs back here this spring; isn't without hope if he settles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Dumfries bounced back to form when going in at Thirsk a few weeks ago and he has to be noted once again, despite a 3lb rise. That said, marginal preference is for AL SHABAB, who was second off this mark when last seen at Southwell in January. Recent Newcastle third Rogue Thunder edges out Vitalline to be the pick of the remainder.

The lightly raced WILLOW'S KISS, who's taken time to settle down, will find this easier on her Tapeta debut. Dumfries is next best.

HAAF A DIAMOND showed more when fourth at Beverley last time and a repeat of that performance would give her a big chance off a 3lb lower mark here. Capallcliste has not been disgraced on his last couple of starts in classified company and he should not be underestimated. Others to note are Star Of Atlantis, Beautiful Dawn and Hellavapace.

The quirky HAAF A DIAMOND is worth risking off a career-low mark. Star Of Atlantis is another for the very short shortlist.
Ths is the racecard key.
