|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (9/2 +44%)Kessaar Power |
9/2(+44%) | (7) Kessaar Power 9/2, Ran to form beaten 2l over 7f at Chelmsford last week; step up in trip not an issue as won over 8f off this mark on the AW; eyecatching jockey booking; in the mix Not beaten far last time (7f, AW) and he goes off the same mark; turf and trip fine. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) (50/1 +24%)Primrose Maid |
50/1(+24%) | (12) Primrose Maid 50/1, Possibly needed the race when well beaten over 7f here on return, but was generally out of form before that; sole win over 7f at the track in 2023 but difficult to fancy on subsequent form Tailed off last time and can only be watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (20/1 +20%)Heer's Sadie |
20/1(+20%) | (9) Heer's Sadie 20/1, Down the field over this trip at Brighton last time; generally out of form, all four wins over shorter with three of those at Brighton; plenty to find Backward step last time at a track she generally goes well at; that raises a question. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (12/1 +14%)Specialist View |
12/1(+14%) | (4) Specialist View 12/1, Probably needed the race when well held off a lengthy absence and wind op at Southwell last time; behind United Force over C&D last summer; needs to find more back on turf Sole win came on AW; might have needed latest run and she's not totally ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (11/1 +31%)Pending Appeal |
11/1(+31%) | (5) Pending Appeal 11/1, Better effort in second beaten 1 1/4l in an 8.6f classified race at Wolverhampton last time; down in trip off a short break and a career-low mark here, but inconsistent and last win in 2022 Latest second in a classified (AW) was better; needs to build on that now back on turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (10/1 +0%)United Force |
10/1(+0%) | (3) United Force 10/1, Didn't get a clear run when 6 1/4l third in a handicap at Southwell off a break; C&D winner and second on only two runs over 8f at the track; races off last winning mark; contender 1lb lower than when winning over C&D last July; solid latest; might be the answer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (50/1 +0%)Fast Flo |
50/1(+0%) | (10) Fast Flo 50/1, Below par beaten 8 1/4l over 6f at Redcar last time out; doesn't appear to be crying out for this step back up up in trip here; needs to improve 38-race maiden who has finished down the field the last twice; passed over. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (33/1 -230%)Al Shabab |
33/1(-230%) | (2) Al Shabab 33/1, Probably needed the race beaten 6 1/4l over 7f at Wolverhampton last time; consistent before that without winning; cheekpieces back on a positive, but step up in trip raises stamina question marks 19-race maiden who's been expensive to follow on AW; not the percentage call back up to 1m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (6/1 +33%)Edvard Grieg |
6/1(+33%) | (6) Edvard Grieg 6/1, Well held dropped back to 6f at Leicester last time; consistent without winning over 7f/8f before that; first-time tongue-tie on here back over a more suitable trip but needs to find more Sprinting backfired latest; respectable efforts around this trip previously; thereabouts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Having won two of his last three starts and seemingly thriving on being kept busy, CROWD QUAKE is very hard to oppose. The Stuart Williams-trained four-year-old was narrowly denied in a slightly deeper race at Leicester on Monday and is presented with a good opportunity to bounce straight back, with Rossa Ryan taking over in the saddle. He does still have to shoulder a 5lb penalty, which creates some hope for supporters of Create and United Force, who are the pick of the remainder.

Most of these have some sort of question to answer and UNITED FORCE, a C&D winner, looks the most solid.

1st (2) (10/1 0%)Commander's Intent |
10/1(0%) | (2) Commander's Intent 10/1, Although well held when beaten 6 3/4l in a 6f Newbury maiden on debut, this colt was very green but kept on late; should improve up in trip for that experience, but looks vulnerable to a newcomer Not disgraced on debut when 11th of 18 at Newbury (6f, good) 13 days ago; should improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (6/4 -80%)Man Of Vision |
6/4(-80%) | (3) Man Of Vision 6/4, Yard has won 3 of the last 5 runnings of the race; Dubawi colt, 3 Apr; dam was high class at 9f and a Listed 2yo winner; represents powerful connections who boast a 57% strike-rate with their juveniles this season Dubawi colt with a fine pedigree; looks another likely newcomer for his powerful yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (20/1 +29%)Brave Hunter |
20/1(+29%) | (1) Brave Hunter 20/1, Universal colt, 23 Feb; full-brother to Minhad, very useful at 12f; dam useful at 7f as a 2yo; yard in good form; an early foal, has possibilities on paper over this 7f trip; market should be informative Universal colt who's a brother to a 1m4f winner; likely one for further down the line. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (9/2 +18%)Rodeo |
9/2(+18%) | (5) Rodeo 9/2, St Mark's Basilica colt, 19 Apr; half-brother to American Arrow, smart at 7f; dam a Grade 2 winner over 9f and placed in the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks; ticks plenty of boxes for top trainer Newcomer; US turf family; excellent yard enjoys plenty of 2yo success here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (28/1 -409%)Velocity Vow |
28/1(-409%) | (6) Velocity Vow 28/1, Yard won this in 2023; 140,000gns Camelot colt, 4 Feb; dam useful at 12f; another expensive purchase meriting a market check for a yard that can have them hard-boiled for debut 140,000gns Camelot yearling; might be one for further next year but yard can ready one. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (9/2 +0%)On The Inlet |
9/2(+0%) | (4) On The Inlet 9/2, 160,000gns New Bay colt, 10 May; full-brother to Jumby, high-class at 7f; dam very smart at 5f at 2yo; yard have sent out two winning juvenile debutants this year; worth a market check 160,000gns yearling related to winning juveniles; market can guide on this debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

On paper, MAN OF VISION is the most intriguing newcomer. Being by Dubawi and out of the high-class Summer Romance - a Group 2 winner for Charlie Appleby - there is an awful lot to like about this Godolphin home-bred colt. On The Inlet, who cost 160,000gns and is a full-brother to Hungerford Stakes winner Jumby, also captures the imagination. Rodeo and Velocity Vow are other well-bred types notable for future reference.

It's hard to ignore the run Charlie Appleby is having with his juveniles and MAN OF VISION is selected to make a winning debut.

1st (1) (6/5 -9%)Showering |
6/5(-9%) | (1) Showering 6/5, A winner on debut, improved under a penalty when second in a novice when last seen; the winner of that scored next time on return and then took his chance in the Craven (Gr3); top course trainer; major contender Won on debut and good second next time; jointly sets the standard; turf debut/reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (1/1 +0%)Miss Cartesian |
1/1(+0%) | (3) Miss Cartesian 1/1, A novice winner at Wolverhampton on debut; returns here under a winner's penalty for for in-form trainer, entitled to improve and a major contender in receipt of her 5lb sex allowance 1-1 and jointly sets the standard on that; big player on this turf debut/reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (40/1 -21%)Neyva's Angel |
40/1(-21%) | (6) Neyva's Angel 40/1, Harry Angel filly; dam useful at 6f as a 2yo, more speedily bred than her two winning half-siblings; would need to be smart to score here on debut Harry Angel filly from a yard with a modest record in this type of race; best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (22/1 -83%)Atmosphere |
22/1(-83%) | (2) Atmosphere 22/1, Improved from debut at Kempton last time when a keeping-on fifth after denied a clear run; first-time hood here; entitled to come on again but plenty to find with the two principals Similar form at big prices in a maiden and novice (6f, AW); watching brief on turf debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (125/1 -150%)Sprinter |
125/1(-150%) | (4) Sprinter 125/1, Yet to show any real signs of ability, the latest when 12/12 behind stablemate Atmosphere at Kempton; all to do on turf debut Beaten over 20l in a maiden and novice (6f, AW; big prices); can only watch on turf debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (50/1 -150%)Cocooned |
50/1(-150%) | (5) Cocooned 50/1, Beaten 6 1/2l in a 7f maiden at Kempton on debut; step back in trip doesn't make immediate appeal as her full-sister was placed over 10f; needs to improve Some promise on recent debut (7f, AW); can chase the big two home on this turf debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SHOWERING and Miss Cartesian both made winning debuts as juveniles and are the pair to focus on. The latter is bred to win further races over this trip and rates a serious player. Nevertheless, Showering's form holds more substance at this stage and given he was second only to a subsequent winner who went on to contest the Craven, there are solid foundations to build on. Atmosphere and Cocooned can fight it out for third place.

Showering and MISS CARTESIAN should have this between them and a narrow vote goes to the latter, who might have a shade more upside.

1st (6) (11/4 +68%)Charming Whisper |
11/4(+68%) | (6) Charming Whisper 11/4, Below form when down the field over 8f at Newmarket last time; usually consistent; goes well here; up in trip but gets it; top jockey back on board; will suit this class drop after racing in 21k/18k contests last twice Modest last run but too well handicapped to ignore and worth another go over this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (10/1 +50%)Woodstock City |
10/1(+50%) | (4) Woodstock City 10/1, Fourth when beaten 9l in an apprentice handicap over 12f at Chester last time; steps down in trip and grade, a chance if recapturing last season's form but that is the if about him Probably in fair form as ran well for a long way at Chester until stretched by 1m4f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (13) (25/1 -25%)Lechuga Lad |
25/1(-25%) | (13) Lechuga Lad 25/1, Appeared not to stay when comfortably held over 1m6f at Wolverhampton last time; back down in trip for just second turf start; shown glimpses of winning ability but others preferred Surely failed to stay the 1m6f last time but can race keenly and comes with risks. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (10/1 +0%)Corundum |
10/1(+0%) | (9) Corundum 10/1, Beaten 2l off 72 over 10.2f at Newcastle last time; still very lightly raced but appeared a touch unenthusiastic on penultimate start and tried in first-time cheekpieces here 0-6 but was only 2l away at Newcastle (1m2f AW) last time when unsuited by track position. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (14/1 +44%)Obsidian Knight |
14/1(+44%) | (8) Obsidian Knight 14/1, Well below form when beaten 28l off 75 last time out at Chester upped in trip; back over ideal trip but all seven wins have come on the AW, six of which have come at Lingfield Made it 0-12 on turf when a long way behind at Chester, finishing adrift of Woodstock City. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (11/1 +8%)Didaar |
11/1(+8%) | (2) Didaar 11/1, Blowout run at Salisbury last time, where the vet reported the gelding to have an irregular heartbeat, a chance on the form of his Redcar third on penultimate start Chance if forgiven latest flop and there were excuses but soft ground a worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (50/1 -317%)Forca Timao |
50/1(-317%) | (1) Forca Timao 50/1, Suited the step up in trip and class drop when scoring off 68 over 11f at Southwell last time, a career-low mark; back down in trip off a short break here, is a contender off a 5lb rise Only beat three rivals at Southwell and that race fell apart; back up 7lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (14) (16/1 -78%)Coolree |
16/1(-78%) | (14) Coolree 16/1, Scored by 1 1/4l off 62 over extended 8f at Beverley last time; up 4lb for that and back up in trip, but a chance on close-up third over C&D last season off this mark with winning jockey retained Responded well for pressure to get the job done at Beverley; up 4lb in a deeper race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (14/1 +44%)Solar Saving |
14/1(+44%) | (11) Solar Saving 14/1, Raced freely when beaten 7l in a 7f maiden at The Curragh when last seen; makes handicap debut off a long absence on first start for new yard; bit to find but a possible improver over this trip Good debut in Ireland but failed to progress; sold on for 4,000gns; had three races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (4/1 -33%)Sir Edward Lear |
4/1(-33%) | (3) Sir Edward Lear 4/1, A close-up second when beaten 3/4l off 73 at Windsor on seasonal return, this lightly raced gelding should be sharper for that, excuses on only soft-ground start and is a leading contender for his in-form trainer Lightly raced and just missed out on handicap debut at Windsor; might not want soft ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (3/1 +50%)Saturn Five |
3/1(+50%) | (7) Saturn Five 3/1, Too free early when beaten 3l off 74 up in class at the Chester May meeting last time out; soft ground a concern but catches the eye dropped in class off 1lb lower for that run Did all his best work late at Chester and now on a more galloping track. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SIR EDWARD LEAR displayed plenty of promise when a close second on his handicap debut at Windsor a couple of weeks ago and James Owen's unexposed gelding tops the shortlist, despite a 1lb rise in the ratings. The recent Beverley winner Coolree has to be of interest on the back of that success, while Solanna and Show Biz Kid are others with valid form claims.

The lightly raced SATURN FIVE stayed on to good effect at Chester and promises to be well suited by this more galloping track.

1st (1) (5/2 -43%)Spinning Wheel |
5/2(-43%) | (1) Spinning Wheel 5/2, A 3/4l winner of a 10f novice at Beverley, staying on nicely on debut, this gelding's pedigree suggests the step up in trip will suit, and two of those behind him in Yorkshire have won subsequently The horse he beat at Beverley (1m2f, good) won this week at Redcar; penalised. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (13/8 -8%)Marnier |
13/8(-8%) | (3) Marnier 13/8, Yard won this last year; excuses on second start when slowly away and rushed up wide when a beaten favourite in a 10f maiden at Chester last time; no surprise to see an improved effort from this colt for his in-form yard First run was better than the second, though perhaps he failed to handle Chester. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (28/1 -331%)Caughtredhanded |
28/1(-331%) | (2) Caughtredhanded 28/1, Yard won this last year; well below form of Wood Ditton debut when down the field in a 10f maiden at Newbury last time; visor first time; trainer in form; bred to suit the trip but more needed Positive run in the Wood Ditton but ran miserably next time and now in headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (6/4 +67%)Sharp Move |
6/4(+67%) | (5) Sharp Move 6/4, Frankel colt; dam smart at 6f as a 2yo; demands respect for top connections and while any market move would be significant, this looks a tough task on soft ground over an extended 11f on debut First foal out of 6f 2yo winner (92) and half-sister to 2m Listed winner Nate The Great. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (125/1 -150%)Savvy Stellar |
125/1(-150%) | (4) Savvy Stellar 125/1, Comfortably held in a 10f novice at Chelmsford last time out on seasonal return; plenty more needed up in trip here Has the least convincing form claims after two heavy defeats and one for handicaps. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SPINNING WHEEL accounted for a decent field when winning on debut at Beverley last month and the son of Postponed is entitled to improve for that experience. With that in mind, he gets the vote over Marnier, who failed to build on a promising racecourse bow when fourth at Chester last time. Frankel colt Sharp Move is from a good family and is a newcomer to note.

Chester needs forgiving but MARNIER looked a horse to follow at Newbury when third to Derby contender Gethin.

5/2(+55%) | (5) Dark Side Thunder 5/2, Well backed when beaten 2l off 72 over 7f here last time out; step back in trip not an issue but all seven wins have come on the AW; handled good to soft previously and could figure if acting on soft 0-12 on turf but often goes well here; good course third latest and should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (7/1 +30%)Dashing Dick |
7/1(+30%) | (2) Dashing Dick 7/1, Below form in both starts this season, the last when beaten 4 1/2l at Ascot last time; a previous winner on good to soft, could contend if recapturing last season's form Tailed off on his return but bounced back latest; has gone well here before; solid chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (10/3 -11%)Arnaz |
10/3(-11%) | (4) Arnaz 10/3, Well below form when down the field in a valuable handicap at Ascot last time; handles soft ground and in the mix if bouncing back here Hasn't added to a winning handicap debut; good return but flopped next time; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (7/2 -17%)Scarboroughwarning |
7/2(-17%) | (1) Scarboroughwarning 7/2, Faded late when beaten 3 1/4l off 80 over 6f at Kempton on seasonal return; a soft-ground winner on sole turf start, major player with that last-time run under her belt 1-1 on turf and showed improved form on AW since; respectable comeback last week; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (6/1 +33%)Rhythmic Acclaim |
6/1(+33%) | (7) Rhythmic Acclaim 6/1, Below form when a beaten favourite over 7f here last time when held up in a race dominated from the front; in good form before that, goes well at the track and is versatile going-wise Dual 6f course winner; below par latest but possibilities if that can be forgiven. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (14/1 -115%)Havana Sky |
14/1(-115%) | (6) Havana Sky 14/1, Below par when beaten 7l at Newcastle last time but in good form before that; returns here off a break with a significant jockey booking; not out of it if handling the ground Rampant on AW at the end of last year; not ruled out on this comeback and return to turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (16/1 -220%)Expert Agent |
16/1(-220%) | (3) Expert Agent 16/1, Raced freely when beaten off 72 at Kempton on seasonal return, but that was a better effort after a poor spell; unproven on soft ground but now 2lb below last winning mark May be best with time between runs so not sure to build on solid return; still respected. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SCARBOROUGHWARNING finished a respectable third at Kempton last week and goes off the same mark. The four-year-old recorded her maiden victory on turf at Catterick last year and she looks the one to beat. Dark Side Thunder showed more when making the frame over 7f here and, with six of his seven career successes coming over this distance, he has to be respected. Arnaz completes the shortlist.

This is tricky but SCARBOROUGHWARNING is the least exposed of these and is selected to take her turf record to 2-2.

50/1(-257%) | (6) Bluebells Boy 50/1, Didn't get a clear run when beaten on the AW off 74 over 6f at Lingfield last time; all six wins over shorter trips and is unproven on soft ground Last year went well with five wins all told and he continued to run well up to December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (10/1 +9%)Silver Trumpet |
10/1(+9%) | (2) Silver Trumpet 10/1, Made too much use of when beaten off 77 at Kempton last time out; the grey is still 4lb above his last winning mark but handled good to soft on sole run with soft in the going description Three wins last year and hasn't been running too badly back from a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (25/1 -108%)Cancan In The Rain |
25/1(-108%) | (7) Cancan In The Rain 25/1, Didn't get a clear run when beaten 5l in a handicap at Wolverhampton when last time seen but in good form before that; well beaten on sole start on soft ground Dual winner who was unlucky not to win something last year; now with a new yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Drifts Away has improved no less than 21lb since competing in handicaps, filling the runner-up spot at Kempton on his latest outing, and he is one to watch.
