1st (9) (4/6 +62%)Archivist |
4/6(+62%) | (9) Archivist 4/6, Fulfilled previous promise when winning well at 2-5 in 1m maiden latest; quite possible this 3yo can find a bit more on handicap debut now; leading contender. Easy win at Leicester last time; with top Newmarket yard & has potential off opening mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (14/1 +13%)Barley |
14/1(+13%) | (10) Barley 14/1, Wide trip at Carlisle last time, only three days ago; had looked on the way back to peak form at Thirsk the time before and interesting on this quick return to action. Below par at Carlisle on Wednesday but went close at Thirsk previously; not written off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (20/1 +39%)Vicario |
20/1(+39%) | (6) Vicario 20/1, Generally out of form; trainer has been having a great time of it but this one has fair bit to prove upped in trip to 1m. Down the field in handicaps on both runs this season; plenty to prove on first crack at 1m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (16/1 -14%)Capital Guarantee |
16/1(-14%) | (3) Capital Guarantee 16/1, Less good last two times, the latest here; however, won very well at Thirsk (1m) in May and a leading player on that form returned to 1m for the first time since. Two wins in the spring; shaped here (1m1f 5th) last time as though return to 1m would suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (7/1 -8%)Madame De Sevigne |
7/1(-8%) | (5) Madame De Sevigne 7/1, Ran to best form when close second at Nottingham last time; very much a leading player up 1lb if in the same form again. Went close at Nottingham last time and might not be far away if backing that up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (16/1 -33%)Stanage |
16/1(-33%) | (4) Stanage 16/1, Reappearance winner at Doncaster (7f) in March but not really gone on from that since; there's a real chance that 7f is his optimum too; bit to prove. Respectable 6th of 14 in higher grade over C&D last month; Epsom may not have suited since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (33/1 +34%)Theme Park |
33/1(+34%) | (8) Theme Park 33/1, Something to prove on this season's balance of form, last time well down the field here (9f). C&D winner last July and he's on a handy mark, but hasn't shone on last two starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (50/1 +0%)Global Skies |
50/1(+0%) | (7) Global Skies 50/1, Off since well beaten over hurdles 10 months ago; plenty to prove overall on last season's evidence. Has edged down weights but absent since well beaten on hurdle debut last August. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (16/1 +20%)Shamrock Bay |
16/1(+20%) | (2) Shamrock Bay 16/1, Lightly raced; won twice on grass last season; back to form when second on Chelmsford AW latest; shade more needed but profile points to prospect of there being more to come. Has raced only four times, going close in a big field at Chelmsford latest; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (66/1 -65%)Beylerbeyi |
66/1(-65%) | (11) Beylerbeyi 66/1, Did well last season with four wins but not shown enough as yet this season to suggest he'll be adding to his tally for now. Took step back in right direction when sixth at Haydock but needs something extra today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (28/1 -133%)Nordic Norm |
28/1(-133%) | (12) Nordic Norm 28/1, Well beaten at 33-1 in Listed race at Newcastle last time; in good form prior to that; gelded since last time; needs a career-best on turf debut now. Lightly raced 3yo who has been gelded and retains potential now tackling first handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (1) (8/1 -100%)Cadarn |
8/1(-100%) | (1) Cadarn 8/1, Two from two since dropped back to 1m and switched to turf this season; shade more needed up 5lb but unexposed and may progress a bit again. 2-2 in handicaps (both at Redcar) and this lightly raced 4yo is firmly in calculations. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Now that the penny has dropped for ARCHIVIST after an easy success at Leicester, the son of Dubawi is likely to have plenty more improvement forthcoming and a mark of 90 on his handicap bow looks manageable. Cadarn continues to go from strength to strength after a pair of Redcar victories, while Madame De Sevigne may be suited by dropping back slightly in trip having been narrowly denied at Nottingham. Barley and Capital Guarantee are capable of being in the shake-up as well.

The 3yo ARCHIVIST is a very useful prospect for William Haggas and can make a winning handicap debut having won easily at Leicester.

1st (6) (12/1 +52%)Quinault |
12/1(+52%) | (6) Quinault 12/1, Made too much use of at Haydock most recently; often front-run; bit to find even if refinding peak form. Course record and yard's good form are positives but well held in Group 3 last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (8/1 +33%)Room Service |
8/1(+33%) | (7) Room Service 8/1, Solid reappearance run at Haydock (7f) last month; may be sharper now but more is needed; not fully exposed, especially at 7f. 6f Listed win on soft; fourth in 7f Group 3 on return; chance would increase if it rains. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (4/1 +33%)Paborus |
4/1(+33%) | (5) Paborus 4/1, Bit in hand when he won useful conditions race at Thirsk last time in April; steadily progressive; may well come on again; more on his plate here but has to be respected. Impressive on Thirsk reappearance and can make his presence felt in this higher grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (14/1 -17%)Lethal Levi |
14/1(-17%) | (3) Lethal Levi 14/1, Very smart performer who went close to a first Group-race win at The Curragh (6f) latest; showed he was fully effective at 7f last season; respected. Went close in 6f Group 2 in Ireland last month and seems just as good at 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (16/1 -100%)Prague |
16/1(-100%) | (1) Prague 16/1, Off since October; did very well in first season on the track last season, notably when winning 1m Gr 2 at Newmarket (soft) two starts back; tough return under a 5lb penalty. Soft-ground Group 2 winner in his first season but penalised for that on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (13/8 +13%)Lake Forest |
13/8(+13%) | (2) Lake Forest 13/8, Classy sort who scooped a massive pot in Australia (7.5f) last autumn; solid run in messy 1m Gr 1 at Ascot recently; said to need a truly-run race; the one to beat if he gets that. Very smart, including fifth in Group 1 Queen Anne last week; obvious chance down in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (9/2 -80%)Formal |
9/2(-80%) | (8) Formal 9/2, Well backed when winning Listed race with something in hand at Epsom last time; needs a career-best but this 3yo is far from fully exposed and commands considerable respect. Second start for yard when ready winner of 7f Epsom Listed race; should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (16/1 +0%)Nostrum |
16/1(+0%) | (4) Nostrum 16/1, Very smart at his best, as when second in this (when run at Newmarket) last year; sold for 120,000gns since latest below-par run; new yard now; needs a career best on seasonal debut. Smart for Sir Michael Stoute; O'Meara yard does well with new recruits; betting to guide. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

This contest could prove a springboard to the newly-upgraded Group 1 City of York Stakes over C&D in August and one colt with eyes on that may be LAKE FOREST, who is turned out quickly after a respectable fifth in the Queen Anne. A winner of the ultra-valuable Golden Eagle in Australia last November from Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes hero Lazzat, the William Haggas-trained four-year-old sets a lofty standard and may have too much class for recent Epsom scorer Formal, who goes back up in grade. Another on an upward curve and recently purchased by Wathnan Racing is Paborus, who landed a conditions race at Thirsk on his return.

Lake Forest (second choice) and Formal have plenty to recommend them but narrow preference is for the progressive PABORUS.

1st (8) (11/2 +39%)Squealer |
11/2(+39%) | (8) Squealer 11/2, Not quite the force of old though latest close second at Doncaster was best run for a while; a bit more needed on that form now. Went close at Doncaster three weeks ago and remains well treated on last year's best form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (15/8 +44%)Jm Jungle |
15/8(+44%) | (3) Jm Jungle 15/8, Ultra-dependable 5yo who found a bit more on his immediately previous efforts when winning top Epsom handicap latest; leading contender even after a 5lb rise. Won the Dash at Epsom; career-high mark but clearly thriving and has to be respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (7/2 +46%)Azure Angel |
7/2(+46%) | (6) Azure Angel 7/2, Right back to her best when landing her first win on grass at Redcar last week; needs a bit more up 6lb but wouldn't discount now she's back in the groove. Won in good style when back down to 5f at Redcar last Saturday and unexposed at the trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (40/1 -60%)Seven Questions |
40/1(-60%) | (1) Seven Questions 40/1, Gr 3 winner last season but has found stakes company a struggle recently and has something to prove back handicapping now; cheekpieces return. Below par this term but is now back in cheekpieces, in which he won a Group 3 last May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (11/2 -38%)Regal Envoy |
11/2(-38%) | (4) Regal Envoy 11/2, Most progressive 6yo who has decent strike-rate and comes here on the back of two 5f Windsor wins (the latest of which has been boosted since); 4lb rise is fair; leading player. Has won at Windsor the last twice; this progressive front-runner can make another bold bid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (9/1 +10%)Democracy Dilemma |
9/1(+10%) | (2) Democracy Dilemma 9/1, Real speedster who probably set it up for the closers at Epsom last time; this smaller field should make it easier to dominate and a contender for sure on peak form. Feasibly treated on last season's form (including here) but not at his very best this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (7/1 +30%)Venture Capital |
7/1(+30%) | (5) Venture Capital 7/1, Back to winning ways at Ripon in April but since been well held over C&D; needs more even on that Ripon form; has had a wind op since last time. Won at Ripon in April; merely mid-division here since but not discounted after wind op. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

The rapidly-improving HABOOBA had two subsequent winners behind her, including Jm Jungle (third), when scoring comfortably over C&D last month. A 6lb rise could prove lenient and it may be Regal Envoy who gives her the most to think about, having won three of his last four starts at Newmarket and Windsor (twice). Azure Angel returned to winning ways at Redcar and is another to consider, along with Doncaster second Squealer, who may be suited by the set-up of this race.

A hot contest featuring progressive handicappers. HABOOBA (nap) did it nicely over C&D four weeks ago and that form has been boosted.

1st (4) (3/1 +0%)Hankelow |
3/1(+0%) | (4) Hankelow 3/1, 28 January foal; 750,000gns Night Of Thunder colt; half-brother to Epic Poet, very smart at 14f; dam smart at 10f; takes the eye on pedigree; worth close attention in the betting. 750,000gns yearling by Night Of Thunder; half-brother to smart Epic Poet; powerful stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7/4 +42%)Crest Of Fire |
7/4(+42%) | (3) Crest Of Fire 7/4, Debut fifth of 18 (6f; 6-1) at Newbury this month is working out well (including the winner following up at Ascot recently); very much respected. 6-1 fifth of 18 in what's looking an extremely strong maiden at Newbury (6f, good). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (8/1 -60%)Brotherhood Of Man |
8/1(-60%) | (1) Brotherhood Of Man 8/1, Enough promise when fourth in a novice at Haydock (7f; 7-1; just behind fellow debutant Commanding Officer) on debut to command plenty of respect for his good yard now. 7-1 from 11-1 when fourth at Haydock (7f, good) on debut, a neck behind Commanding Officer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (9/2 -64%)Commanding Officer |
9/2(-64%) | (2) Commanding Officer 9/2, Promising third in a novice at Haydock (7f; 15-8; just ahead of fellow debutant Brotherhood Of Man) on debut; leading player, especially as it's quite possible he'll be improved now. Nearly 2l third at Haydock (7f, good) on debut as Brotherhood Of Man closed to a neck. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (8/1 +20%)Last Verse |
8/1(+20%) | (6) Last Verse 8/1, Nicely bred and with good yard but will need to improve on well-held debut third in a novice at Haydock (7f; 4-1) in May. Weak 4-1 when third of five to impressive winner in novice at Haydock (7f, good to firm). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (20/1 -43%)Jeddaal |
20/1(-43%) | (5) Jeddaal 20/1, 8 March foal; Lope De Vega colt; half-brother to Min Huna, very useful at 10f; dam useful at 8f; may be best watched on debut unless the betting suggests otherwise. Lope De Vega half-brother to 1m/1m2f winner Min Huna (RPR 93); needs a close look. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (16/1 -45%)Shadow Brigade |
16/1(-45%) | (7) Shadow Brigade 16/1, 4 March foal; 500,000gns Acclamation colt; full-brother to Currawood, very smart at 8f; appeals enough on paper to be well worth a market check. 500,000gns yearling by Acclamation; stable has made its mark with 2yos this year. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

There was little to separate COMMANDING OFFICER (third) and Brotherhood Of Man (fourth) when the pair met on debut at Haydock. Charlie Appleby's colt wasn't experienced enough to do himself justice and he could fare much better with that under his belt. Karl Burke has his string in fine fettle so newcomer Hankelow, who fetched 750,000gns as a yearling, must be respected. It will be interesting to see if Crest of Fire's supporters return, having been well backed ahead of his debut when fifth behind subsequent Chesham hero Humidity at Newbury.

All who have run look promising and the three newcomers need a close look too, but CREST OF FIRE comes from such a strong Newbury race.

1st (1) (4/1 -33%)Turquino |
4/1(-33%) | (1) Turquino 4/1, Won first two starts and though beaten twice since, latest effort was sound; up from 12f on this turf debut now; good yard and lightly raced, so he's a possible improver npw. Favourite all 4 starts; potential still but can go freely and has been a work in progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (8/1 -23%)Percy Shelley |
8/1(-23%) | (3) Percy Shelley 8/1, Only three wins came when in France back in 2022; ran well at Goodwood (14f) last time though and a contender for sure on that form. Close again last time but no win in 16 races (four for this stable) since leaving France. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (15/8 +32%)Gravitas |
15/8(+32%) | (7) Gravitas 15/8, Game when winning a novice at Doncaster over 12f last time; gradually progressive; up in trip; 3yo is a strong candidate to progress again; much respected. 1m6f novice winner last time; an inexperienced but promising newcomer to handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (5/2 +29%)Heathen |
5/2(+29%) | (4) Heathen 5/2, Often slowly away but it hasn't stopped him running well lately, last time back on grass (12f; stays this trip) here; leading player. Third (promoted to second) in 1m4f amateurs' event here latest; peak AW efforts at 1m6f/2m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (15/2 +6%)Nap Hand |
15/2(+6%) | (2) Nap Hand 15/2, Raced freely when third over 10f at Windsor most recent run; needs a touch more and has Flat stamina very much to prove up in trip. Best run on heavy; placed in two 2m hurdle races but has never gone beyond 1m2f on Flat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (14/1 +13%)My Harrison George |
14/1(+13%) | (6) My Harrison George 14/1, In good form with Thirsk second (14f) and Beverley win (12f) before fair latest run at Catterick off this higher mark; others look better-weighted. Dictated for 1m4f win in May; back to 1m6f from 2m but others are a little more persuasive. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

TURQUINO was able to put a lacklustre Ascot performance behind him to finish a creditable fifth at Kempton. The son of Teofilo looked outpaced on that occasion so stepping up in trip could elicit the necessary improvement. Heathen is likely to prove popular having struck the woodwork over 1m4f here a fortnight ago, while handicap debutant Gravitas, who has William Buick aboard for the first time, is another to consider.

Heathen may prove best of the more exposed candidates but preference is for the lightly raced pair GRAVITAS and Turquino.

1st (17) (4/1 +27%)Dream Out Loud |
4/1(+27%) | (17) Dream Out Loud 4/1, Running well, including breakthrough win (AW) three starts back and latest close second at Chester; major contender for leading trainer-jockey combination. Unexposed and progressive; suffered a wide trip at Chester latest; still open to progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (22/1 -10%)Far Above The Law |
22/1(-10%) | (6) Far Above The Law 22/1, Shade below form latest; claims on form of precious Windsor win if cheekpieces for the first time spark a mini-revival. Behind a few of these at Hamilton last time and cheekpieces are now reached for. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (13) (12/1 +0%)Territorial Knight |
12/1(+0%) | (13) Territorial Knight 12/1, Ran pretty well in top handicap over C&D last time, especially from an iffy draw; by no means dismissed each-way. Ran quite nicely in a stronger C&D handicap two weeks ago; one to consider dropped 2lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (40/1 -21%)Magic Basma |
40/1(-21%) | (7) Magic Basma 40/1, Very possibly not stay 7f at Haydock most recently on reappearance but would still have liked to have seen from her there. Low-key seasonal/handicap debut at Haydock (7f, good); drop in trip can help; others safer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (18/1 -157%)Station X |
18/1(-157%) | (2) Station X 18/1, Progressive; ran very well at Hamilton last time on belated seasonal debut; may be sharper now; respected. Ended 2024 on the up and better form when second on return; best form on slower than good. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (16/1 0%)Yes I'm Mali |
16/1(0%) | (8) Yes I'm Mali 16/1, In good form prior to latest run when he ran as if needing a break; gelded since; returning from a break now; C&D winner last summer and not ruled out. Absent since lesser run in February (gelded after); has winning big-field C&D form; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (4/1 +38%)Mythical Composer |
4/1(+38%) | (5) Mythical Composer 4/1, Briefly didn't get a clear run at Windsor latest; still ran okay there but chance rests on whether he can reproduce form of previous close second at Doncaster. Has C&D form; three solid efforts this year but others are perhaps better treated. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (7/1 +0%)Lord Roxby |
7/1(+0%) | (3) Lord Roxby 7/1, In good form in two recent runs at Hamilton; less capacity for improvement than some here but solid each-way claims. Hamilton win last month represents strong form; good 3rd latest; more appealing than many. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (16) (33/1 +0%)Balzarini |
33/1(+0%) | (16) Balzarini 33/1, Mark is slipping but form has taken a turn for the worst most recently and others here are preferred. Handicapper well on top so far this year; this looks a tough race in which to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (14) (12/1 +40%)Educating Rita |
12/1(+40%) | (14) Educating Rita 12/1, Ran okay on second run of her season latest and may well be that bit sharper now; very much a contender on best 2024 form; worth considering. Closely matched with a couple of these on latest Hamilton run; yard is hitting form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (15) (11/1 -29%)Farandaway |
11/1(-29%) | (15) Farandaway 11/1, Ran to form over 5f here last time; stays 6f; this consistent maiden has each-way claims again. Capable maiden; a repeat of his latest third here (5f) would give him solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (18) (40/1 -60%)Miss Hathaway |
40/1(-60%) | (18) Miss Hathaway 40/1, Bit in-and-out and was below form at Chester last time; probably vulnerable up in grade. Good 3rd at Thirsk on penultimate start; behind Dream Out Loud latest; others are stronger. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (1) (5/1 +9%)Topwarrior |
5/1(+9%) | (1) Topwarrior 5/1, Lightly raced; again ran well and ran to form over 5f at Musselburgh last time on handicap debut; stays 6f; could well be more to come on second handicap run. Unexposed 3yo who was a good 2nd on h'cap debut this month (5f, good); return to 6f a plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (4) (14/1 +0%)Good Banter |
14/1(+0%) | (4) Good Banter 14/1, Below-par back on grass in last two starts and now needs to prove he's as good on turf; cheekpieces first time. Two AW novice wins; has not kicked on in handicaps but drops in class with headgear added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (10) (22/1 +12%)Lesley's Boy |
22/1(+12%) | (10) Lesley's Boy 22/1, Hampered last time and then eased when clearly held; excused that but still has something to prove overall. Two wins as 2yo; yet to shine this year but latest start was better than the bare figures. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (11) (12/1 -33%)Hoodie Hoo |
12/1(-33%) | (11) Hoodie Hoo 12/1, Made too much use of on Kempton AW latest; initial progress already seems to be levelling off but jockey booking takes the eye and has to be considered. Yet to match maiden/novice form in two handicap runs; still has time to do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (9) (33/1 -32%)Fuji Mountain |
33/1(-32%) | (9) Fuji Mountain 33/1, Tardily away away when hinting at a form revival at Hamilton last time; it's possible slower ground is needed ideally; interesting on peak form, so worth considering all told. First run at 6f was promising but drying ground is not sure to suit on all known evidence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
18th (12) (80/1 -142%)Ardennes |
80/1(-142%) | (12) Ardennes 80/1, Well below form last twice in April, albeit made too much use of latest; has had a wind op; others appeal more. Heavy defeats twice in April; subsequent wind op needs to have a transformative effect. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Station X made an encouraging reappearance when narrowly beaten at Hamilton. However, he tends to produce his best with some cut in the ground and TOPWARRIOR may edge affairs. Ralph Beckett's colt found one too good over the minimum trip at Musselburgh on his handicap bow but, having won a novice event over 6f at Kempton back in April, he gets another chance. Lord Roxby arrives in fine fettle and is not out of it either.

1st (6) (12/1 -9%)Titian |
12/1(-9%) | (6) Titian 12/1, Ran well on seasonal debut at Ripon last month and may well be better for that run now; ground any quicker than good would be a slight concern but leading player otherwise. In a consistent vein of form; sole C&D scorer in this field; on a handy mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/2 +55%)Financer |
9/2(+55%) | (3) Financer 9/2, Running well lately, last time over 12f here; this trip may well be a better fit; shortlisted. Triple 1m2f winner, most recently off 1lb higher in Class 2 last September. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (12/1 +14%)I Still Have Faith |
12/1(+14%) | (5) I Still Have Faith 12/1, Bit to prove overall on recent evidence, for all that he ran his best race for a while last time at Goodwood. Shaped well despite a poor start last time; won amateur riders' race in 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (15) (20/1 0%)Poet's Dawn |
20/1(0%) | (15) Poet's Dawn 20/1, Veteran 10yo needs a bit more on recent runs to probably win but he has running well enough to suggest a place is a distinct possibility. 10yo whose form dipped last time and this may prove too competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (9/1 +36%)Glistening Nights |
9/1(+36%) | (11) Glistening Nights 9/1, Down the field over 12f here most recently; usually consistent; the return to this trip may well be a plus and not discounted. Ran respectably over C&D in sole start under Eireann Cagney; now 2lb lower. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (20/1 +9%)It's A Love Thing |
20/1(+9%) | (8) It's A Love Thing 20/1, Astute tactical ride from the front saw him victorious at Pontefract in April but latest well-beaten run over C&D is off-putting. Spoiled his chance with tardy start last time; going great guns earlier this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (10/1 +17%)Hamlet's Night |
10/1(+17%) | (1) Hamlet's Night 10/1, Raced freely at Wetherby last time; in good form prior to that; chances if that latest run was an aberration; the cheekpieces worn latest are left off today. Ex-French maiden whose form for new yard features a couple of close seconds. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (13/2 +0%)Whathappensinvegas |
13/2(+0%) | (7) Whathappensinvegas 13/2, Shade more needed but recent-in-the frame runs do give him place possibilities; trip/ground are okay; no hood today. Two wins last season; consistent efforts this term; frame possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (17) (18/1 -13%)Mr Jetman |
18/1(-13%) | (17) Mr Jetman 18/1, Back-to-back wins at Ripon (1m) before running to form back there last time; stays 10f but 1m is probably better; others appeal more at the weights. Below par returned to 1m2f last week when bidding for Ripon hat-trick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (33/1 -32%)Bass Player |
33/1(-32%) | (12) Bass Player 33/1, Ran okay when third of four at Wetherby last time but more definitely needed here and stamina is still not conclusively proven. Signs of a revival last week; has some respectable form under Lauren Frost. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (14) (22/1 +12%)Golden Pharaoh |
22/1(+12%) | (14) Golden Pharaoh 22/1, Bit to prove overall on recent form, last time down the field over C&D; stamina remains unproven too. Failed to get home when 50-1 over C&D last time; far from solid. |

12th (4) (11/2 +27%)Westernesse |
11/2(+27%) | (4) Westernesse 11/2, Back to winning ways at Ripon (10f) last time; leading chance on that effort up 4lb here; leading amateur rides. Back on career-high mark but still warrants respect with Simon Walker booked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (10) (100/1 -25%)Sharona |
100/1(-25%) | (10) Sharona 100/1, Won over 7f (soft) as a 2yo; first Flat run for 20 months; questions about Flat stamina and this ground; others preferred. Not seen on Flat since 2023; modest form over hurdles this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (16) (25/1 -108%)This Years Love |
25/1(-108%) | (16) This Years Love 25/1, Fair latest run whilst being a shade below form; very much a contender on previous good reappearance second at Beverley. Steps up two grades but penultimate effort gives him a good shout. |

13/2(-8%) | (2) Leadenhall 13/2, Well backed when winning over 8f at Pontefract three starts back; ran well here latest (9f); not 100% proven at this trip; respected. Has form figures of 133 this term; went close over 1m1f here most recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (9) (33/1 -65%)Show Biz Kid |
33/1(-65%) | (9) Show Biz Kid 33/1, Ran to form, off a career-low mark, suited by the slight step up in trip when scoring at Yarmouth three starts back; perhaps 12f was too far latest; not ruled out. Solid form this year until failing to get home over 1m4f last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (13) (14/1 -180%)Alazwar |
14/1(-180%) | (13) Alazwar 14/1, In good form lately, last time winning similar contest at Newbury; has plenty going for him up 3lb and worth close consideration. Back up the weights but defied higher marks in 2022 and 2023; major player. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

WESTERNESSE carried top weight to victory at Ripon last week. The son of Camelot scored with plenty left in the tank so a 4lb rise may not be enough to prevent another bold bid, and Simon Walker's presence in the saddle is a positive. Whathappensinvegas returns to this shorter trip with a shout off his current mark, while Leadenhall went close here a fortnight ago and is preferred to stablemate Financer.

The shortlist is headed by FINANCER and Glistening Nights. Plenty of the others also have possibilities in a competitive contest.
Ths is the racecard key.
