THE REVEREND is a smart recruit from the Flat and represents powerful connections. The Lope De Vega gelding won four times for William Haggas on varying ground conditions and was last seen scoring over 1m6f at Haydock in September off a mark of 98. Dawn Coming was placed in a Curragh maiden for Jim Bolger and has made the frame on both starts over hurdles since joining Charles Byrnes including when third behind Bertutea at Limerick last week. Speculateur won a point-to-point in fine style last spring and now switches to hurdles after finishing fourth on his debut under Rules in a Punchestown bumper.

MASKATTO put in a career best when filling second place over 7f at Southwell in October and the step up in trip can help the son of Masar to go one better on this occasion. Foothold also showed more on his most recent start and has to be considered as a result, while any market support for Goldust Woman or Tonyfromhr would be noteworthy.

This can go to MASKATTO who sets a fair standard. The stable won a division of this race last year.

It was an inspired performance from Keep Running when bolting up by 18 lengths over track and trip last time and the eight-year-old has lots in his favour, so he has to be respected. However, an 11lb hike makes life tougher and that might open the door for SIAM PARK. Joe Tizzard's charge regained the winning thread in ready fashion at Plumpton in November, which made it four wins from six chase starts, and he hasn't reached his ceiling yet. Vanderpoel completes the shortlist.

This may set up perfectly for VANDERPOEL who likely has further progress in him to boot. Keep Running is second pick.

SPINOLA BAY hails from a yard in great form and gets the vote to complete a hat-trick. The selection overcame a mistake at the last when successful at Navan and was again prominent throughout when landing a very competitive 18-runner handicap at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting with Tatateo back in mid-division. Youlita justified strong support in a Downpatrick maiden last May and it will be interesting to see how strong he is in the market here on reappearance. Zuzukel was just denied at Punchestown last time and is another to consider along with Youneedabitofluck.

SPINOLA BAY displayed a willing attitude to score at Leopardstown and he can complete the hat-trick if this doesn't come too soon

Pitney will be popular after finishing a narrow second at Wolverhampton three weeks ago, as might Way To Dubai, who posted a creditable third over C&D on New Year's Eve. However, a chance can be taken on VIRTUE PATIENCE. Amanda Perrett's charge didn't run too badly here latest and, on his second start following wind surgery, it is quite possible that he will take a step forward.

This may be a good opportunity for WAY TO DUBAI after he finished a close third over C&D on Wednesday.

Luttrell Lad came through the field late to score by over eight lengths at Exeter last time. Whether that performance can be backed up is another question, though, so it may pay to side with HENRI THE SECOND. The two-time course winner ran below expectations when third at Doncaster in November, but that effort can be forgiven after being reported to be lame post-race. Now dropped to an appealing mark, he looks the one to side with. Poncho isn't ruled out either.

This can go to BOURBALI, who ran a big race in defeat at Plumpton last month and has form-figures of 122 over C&D.

Having finished runner-up on both starts over hurdles to date, this looks a good opportunity for FILLYOUREYE to register a first success. A former Kilbeggan bumper winner, the Willie Mullins-trained gelding was sent off favourite when taking minor honours at Punchestown last month. Stepping up in trip here should suit the son of Leading Light. Point-to-point winner Rebel Budz went close on his hurdling debut at Thurles in October. The Paul O'Flynn-trained seven-year-old should be capable of building on that effort. Frankie's Freebie is next best.

The son of Time Test has won on his last two visits here, the latest of those over slightly further, and that excellent track craft can enable him to defy a 4lb rise in the handicap. Recent Limerick scorer COUSIN KATE can follow up for in-form trainer Denis Hogan. Although raised 8lb for that latest success, the daughter of Maxios has most of that burden offset by a very capable claimer. A well-bred five-year-old mare, she has really come into her own in recent times and it would be no surprise to see her continue on an upward curve. Getaway Beo made an impressive racecourse debut when easily winning at Tipperary in October. The Gordon Elliott-trained six-year-old almost certainly failed to give her true running when tailed off in a Grade 3 at Down Royal latest. Cast A Spell also holds claims.

This intermediate trip would appear to be the key to WESTCOMBE, who won at Kempton before following up at Wolverhampton three days later. A 6lb rise shouldn't be enough to anchor Sir Mark Prescott's four-year-old and he is expected to complete the hat-trick. Pride Of Donegal merits respect back up in trip, while the consistent Charlie's Choice won't be far away either.

Recent Tramore third SNOW PUNT can make the breakthrough under Rules. A former point-to-point winner, the Brendan Walsh-trained gelding was placed twice over hurdles in 2024 and comes into this race fresher than most. Coillte M C G is an interesting contender under a very decent conditional rider. Runner-up in a point-to-point, the daughter of Yeats shaped well on a few occasions over hurdles earlier this season. Mount Shenshan is another to bear in mind.

Several have the sort of credentials needed to win a race of this sort, and perhaps SNOW PUNT can build on an encouraging Tramore run

CILL MOCHEALLOG has shown signs of a revival of late and a first success in a handicap could be attainable if the blinkers and tongue-tie combination continues to draw improvement. Given he sat on a rating of 88 at his prime as a three-year-old, his current mark of 59 makes him a tempting proposition. Blue Empress is dangerous to underestimate with Harry Vigors claiming 7lb in the plate. Dandy Khan, a dual course winner last month, is another must for consideration.

Nothing comes into this in better form than DANDY KHAN, who should relish the return to this track.

An 8lb higher mark looks surmountable given the manner of that victory and Anthony Honeyball's charge is fancied to follow up. BAL KAUTO's third place in a higher grade at Galway in October reads well after the runner-up took a valuable contest at Limerick over Christmas by 11 lengths. He is on a competitive mark with Michael Kenneally claiming 7lb. Al Kalila has had two runs in good handicap chases over further at Kelso where he finished second and third. It is notable that he won his maiden hurdle over an extended 2m4f at Ayr, so he ought to show up well. Soloman Lane held on by a head in Navan last month and a 4lb rise is far from insurmountable for the 11-year-old gelding, while Koori Star is a handicap debutant to note in the market.

Tam Lin and Toussarok are respected, while Thomas Equinas is effective on Polytrack but hasn't won away from his beloved Chelmsford. Nevertheless, a chance is taken on SANDITON, who was only a neck behind the winner when third over C&D last time. With a first-time visor added, he could step forward.

The choice is TOUSSAROK who bounced right back to form when beaten a neck in a slightly better race at Wolverhampton a week ago.

IMAGINARIUM put his pulled-up effort at Exeter behind him when ending last season with a triumph at Perth. A revised rating of 122 looks workable given his Flat ability and he's fancied to make a winning return. Continuance arrives on the back of a close second at Cheltenham and must also enter the reckoning, although a bigger threat may emerge from Hot Fuss, who finished second in a premier handicap at Ascot a fortnight ago.

Most of the runners can be viewed positively. The percentage call goes to HOT FUSS, ahead of Brace For Landing.

The major stables are represented by interesting types, but MOONVERRIN ran a lovely race in second on debut at Fairyhouse and could go one better. She was caught in the closing stages by a rival that surged home and did very little wrong. Henry de Bromhead's newcomer Mary O'g is a half-sister to top-class chaser Gerri Colombe, so has to be monitored in the market. Willie Mullins takes the wraps off Workforce mare Owning Flower, who landed a point-to-point last March. That contest is working out well and she is a big player. Poetic Twist starts out for the very in-form Gordon Elliott and she ought to be in the midst of the action.

Going against the Mullins and Elliott runners here is a little risky but MOONVERRIN showed plenty of promise on debut and may prevail

A small field here with recent winner DAGGER STRIKE turned out quickly to run carrying a 6lb penalty after scoring by four lengths at Newcastle where he made all before going clear. If that race hasn't taken too much out of him then he looks to have been found a race he can follow up in, with Somebody his biggest danger. Third, but only beaten a length and a half at Newcastle last month, he may hold off Emilia Casanova for second.

Preference is for DAGGER STRIKE who won by 4l on his handicap debut at Newcastle on Monday and is a big player again under a penalty.

Party Bear has a one out of one record here after scoring over C&D in April last year off just 2lb lower, but he was beaten over six lengths at Catterick on his last start in July and may have to settle for a place. RIKISSA showed signs her first win could be close after her length and three-quarter third at Leicester in September and, if taking to the all-weather, she could see off Amica, who has been knocking on the door recently.

Homer Stokes is a triple C&D winner, all off higher marks, but they were in the distant past, though he could still surprise a few on his return to the all-weather. Trainer Joey Ramsden has done well since returning to the UK and it will be interesting to see how Imola is ridden after she finished second over a mile here last month, so Wolverhampton winner BAD HABITS is preferred. He scored going away by a length that day and an extra 3lb seems pretty fair over the same trip.

The vote goes to BAD HABITS who made the breakthrough at Wolverhampton last Saturday and remains well treated on his best form.

After a couple of placed efforts on Tapeta, including one over C&D last time out, OVERLOOKED is readily suggested as the most attractive proposition. The addition of blinkers could help him focus and this generally consistent five-year-old could be well placed to finally break his maiden. With several of the rest struggling to find their form, Woodrafff, Cuban Fiesta and Up The Monk are suggested as the main contenders for the shortlist.

Preference is for OVERLOOKED, who is generally reliable and finished well to snatch third over C&D two weeks ago.

All three of BIN AJWAD's handicap wins have been posted over this C&D and the progressive four-year-old is hard to ignore, despite going up another 5lb for his latest success. Golden Pharaoh was a respectable second over track and trip on his latest start and won't need to find much to be heavily involved once again. Tribal Wisdom and Bravo Zulu are other previous course winners to seriously consider.

JUNGLE RULER swapped hands for 100,000gns soon after he made a successful debut on his only start in Ireland when trained by Joseph O'Brien. The runner-up and four others in that Dundalk maiden have boosted the form with wins since, which bodes well for the well-bred gelding coping with a 7lb penalty on his debut for Mick Appleby. The betting market should be informative for other options given that Remi Mae, Foxtrot Flyer and Leonetto all represent highly respected yards.

Plenty of these have scope for improvement and LEONETTO is given another chance here. The main danger is Southern Warrior.

A few with chances, but NUNC EST BIBENDUM was worth a little more than the winning margin would suggest at Lingfield and she gets the vote from a 4lb higher mark. Arc Zoosve accounted for Fascinating Shadow (second) at Wolverhampton latest and a 3lb swing might not be enough to reverse the form, while spare a thought for Arcimboldo, who has looked more than capable since going handicapping on the all-weather.

The step up in trip suited NUNC EST BIBENDUM at Lingfield and she can follow up her win there. Arc Zoosve can be the main danger.

Tortured Soul left it late to score over 1m2f at Lingfield last time and the dual C&D winner will have no problem returning to further, but it is RETURN WITH GOLD that gets the vote. Absent since a couple of lacklustre hurdling runs in the summer, Ollie Pears' charge was successful over track and trip in April and is expected to fare much better back in this sphere. Arth's Gold is another to consider.

It's not clearcut with most of them but TORTURED SOUL was back in the swing at Lingfield and the return here can only help.
