13:53 Thurles Handicap Chase 17f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

THE KING OF PRS has made a promising start to his chasing career and could post his third victory in this discipline. After winning his first two races over fences in Wexford and Limerick, he finished third in a valuable handicap chase at Lingfield so the form is in the book. Hgranca De Thaix may have finished last of five in a rated novice chase at Punchestown, however, that run can be viewed in a better light after the winner followed up in a Grade 3 at the same track. Battle Of Ridgeway has shown that he is going to be a better chaser than hurdler. He was an easy winner of a beginners' chase at this track in November and has since finished runner-up on a couple of occasions. He should be involved in the distribution of prize money. Captains Nephew is another to consider while Willywampus' winning form is on better ground.

DANCING JEREMY is given one more chance off what should be a lenient chase mark judged on his improved hurdle efforts this season. Captains Nephew is in a good vein of form and is second choice ahead of Martin Hassett's Battle of Ridgeway.

THE KING OF PRS (nap) lost his unbeaten chase record at Lingfield but he lost little in defeat and can continue on his upward curve

14:05 Chelmsford Maiden (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Although Ribal sets the standard with an official rating of 77, he might struggle to concede weight all round and, with that in mind, SPIRIT OF THE ROSE is preferred. Clive Cox's filly shaped with promise when finishing third to a pair of previous winners at Kempton on her racecourse debut, so natural improvement might be enough today. Cocktail Dress appeals as a likely candidate for the George Boughey team, while stablemate Marching Mac is no forlorn hope either.

COCKTAIL DRESS made a promising start at Newcastle in September and seems sure to improve, so she's taken to make a winning return. Spirit of The Rose can progress and might be the danger ahead of the more-exposed Ribal.

Sovereign Nation can do better over this trip but SPIRIT OF THE ROSE shaped nicely on debut and rates a likely big improver.

14:15 Lingfield Handicap Chase (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

CLASSIC MAESTRO successfully recorded a double over the smaller obstacles when scoring by over three and a half lengths over 2m1f at Newcastle last time, and he is now making his chase debut. If Jennie Canidish's gelding can produce that form over fences, he could prove very hard to beat. Brulure Noire can be forgiven his latest effort at Leicester when sent off at odds-on, as he may not have relished conditions, and could bounce back. Of the remainder, Doyouknowwhatimean appeals most.

CLASSIC MAESTRO is improving all the time, overcoming errors when scoring with something in hand at Newcastle last week, and the hat-trick beckons off the same mark if taking to fences at the first attempt. Doyouknowwhatimean is feared most ahead of Unit Sixtyfour.

Highly progressive hurdler CLASSIC MAESTRO could be even better now over fences, having finished third in a point last January.

14:23 Thurles Novices Chase 22f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

This looks a good opportunity for HARMONYA MAKER and she can give weight away to her five rivals. Gordon Elliott's mare put in arguably her best performance to date when beating the odds-on favourite in a Grade 2 mares' novices' chase over a shorter trip at this venue last month. British raider Marsh Wren won half of her eight races over flights and is going the right way over fences. She has risen to a mark of 131 on the back of victories at Warwick and Uttoxeter and a runner-up berth in a Listed race at Wincanton. Law Ella did win her beginners' chase here, but has plenty to find with Harmonya Maker after finishing fourth behind her in that aforementioned Grade 2.

A potential match between HARMONYA MAKER and English-raider Marsh Wren, with preference for the former having gained her first success in graded company at this course last month. Stuart Edmunds' mare is 2-3 in this sphere and his bold-jumping front-runner won't allow the selection to have it all her own way however, with Law Ella seemingly best of the remainder.

Recent Grade 2 winner HARMONYA MAKER can concede weight to British challenger Marsh Wren

14:35 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BEAUZON's sole attempt at this trip didn't amount to much, but the in-form son of Brazen Beau kicked clear late on over 6f to complete a Wolverhampton four-timer and he is fancied to extend the winning sequence. Boafo Boy left favourite-backers frustrated when filling the runner-up spot over C&D last month, but he didn't take long to make amends and a subsequent 4lb rise for that Southwell triumph looks fair. Blackjack can chase the pair home, ahead of Triggered.

TRIGGERED was noted doing good late work when third behind a thriving sort at Kempton 8 days ago and with his rider now taking off a handy 5 lb, he could be the way to go. Boafo Boy might be the chief threat.

Beauzon's winning spree could be set to end with both Blackjack and BOAFO BOY (nap) making plenty of appeal in opposition.

14:45 Lingfield Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Point-to-point winner HIDDEN HISTORY ran a race full of promise when hitting the frame at Newbury on his Rules debut and he would have learned a great deal from that experience. He can find enough improvement to shed his maiden tag over hurdles, while Home Free placed in two bumpers before being beaten into third on his hurdles debut at Huntingdon last month. He could progress to get closer, while any market confidence behind the Ben Pauling-trained Scotch On Da Rocks would be interesting.

There was plenty to like about HIDDEN HISTORY's opening effort over hurdles at Newbury last month and he can build on that promise with victory. Home Free looks the obvious danger unless the betting vibes are strong surrounding returning Ben Pauling point winner Scotch On Da Rocks.

Scotch On Da Rocks is the dark one but the obvious candidates are HOME FREE and Hidden History.

14:53 Thurles Handicap Chase 22f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

ROCHESTOWN wasn't at his best on his last start over 3m at Navan, but looks better assessed on his strong-staying performance when winning over a similar trip at Tramore on his penultimate start. Harry Swan takes 5lb off his back, so he doesn't look to be on a bad mark. Soldier Of Honour showed much-improved form when keeping on for a close third at Down Royal. If he can build upon that, he has to rate a danger. Not May makes her chasing debut off a handy mark. She ran her best race to date over flights when runner-up at Punchestown last month and it is worth noting that she is a former point-to-point winner. Moonlight Getaway was collared late on at Punchestown before finishing second and has to show that he wants this trip.

ROCHESTOWN might have found his last run coming too soon and is worth another chance given his career-best win at Tramore the time before. Soldier of Honour is next best ahead of Moonlight Getaway.

It was a much improved effort from SOLDIER OF HONOUR when placed last month and shaping like this trip would suit

15:05 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 14f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

The unexposed STOLEN ENCOUNTER took another step forward when sent over 1m4f at Wolverhampton, where he was narrowly denied, and the son of Cracksman is fancied to go one better now upped further in distance. Foinix continues to knock on the door and he's unlikely to be far away, especially with the aid of Joe Leavy's 7lb claim. Good Time Ahead was never seriously involved over hurdles last time out, but he is on a competitive mark back in this sphere.

A few in with a squeak but returning from 9 months off, STOLEN ENCOUNTER improved for the step up in trip when going down by a narrow margin at Wolverhampton earlier this month and with that outing sure to have blown away any cobwebs, Archie Watson's 4-y-o can open his account. Foinix is holding his form well this year so he's second choice, with Liberated Lad and top-weight Scarborough Castle taken to fight out third.

The unexposed STOLEN ENCOUNTER looks the one to beat having only just lost out on his return at Wolverhampton last time.

15:15 Lingfield Handicap Chase (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Even though ANNIE MAGIC was well beaten into third in this grade at Warwick last month, that still looks like the best piece of recent form on offer and she was dropped 1lb. Jeremy Scott's mare also has the combination of a tongue-tie and cheekpieces for the first time and that could eke out more. So Said I's mark continues to drop and, if the first-time blinkers can have the desired effect, she could have a say. Swincombe Fleat takes a drop in grade and can beat Lazy Sunday home for third.

All of these have question marks hanging over them, but ANNIE MAGIC shaped much better than first time up over fences when third at Warwick last month and, with the return to shorter looking in her favour, she makes most appeal. Last year's winner Lazy Sunday isn't the type to stay down for too long and is feared most.

None of these have advanced their claims in recent outings but LAZY SUNDAY gets the vote ahead of Annie Magic.

15:23 Thurles Maiden Hurdle 21f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

STAFFORDSHIRE KNOT, who made a whopping 510,000 euros at the recent Caldwell Construction dispersal sale, is taken to bring up his hat-trick. He is up in trip and class, but is a lightly-raced horse on the upgrade. He came home well to win his bumper at Fairyhouse and was impressive in routing the field in a maiden hurdle at Down Royal. Willie Mullins' Largy Hill is proven over further as evidenced by a maiden hurdle success over 3m in Cork. His stablemate, What Path, is likely to make this a stamina test off the front, but a bigger threat may be another stablemate, Stoke The Fire. This five-year-old gelding absolutely ran away with a maiden hurdle at Tramore on New Year's Day.

STAFFORDSHIRE KNOT beat a largely ordinary lot at Down Royal last month but did so in emphatic fashion and looks up to making his mark at this level. Largy Hill and Stoke The Fire look promising also, and they rate the main threats.

Recent big money purchase STAFFORDSHIRE KNOT is narrowly preferred to Largy Hill in an interesting renewal

LUPSET FLOSSY POP has filled the runner-up spot on both of her starts for the Gary Brown stable, in classified events at Kempton, and she now takes a step down in distance. The daughter of Kodiac arguably brings the best recent form to the contest and she can go one better. Bear To Dream has produced some solid efforts of late, including when third over C&D on her penultimate outing, and should go well again. Blackcurrent is another to consider after his latest fourth at Newcastle.

MAJOR FORTUNE was most impressive when landing a hat-trick over C&D earlier this month. A 7lb penalty looks far from insurmountable for the Dan Skelton-trained gelding and he should take all of the beating. San Pedro escapes a penalty for his ready victory in a conditional jockeys' event at Plumpton recently and the seven-year-old isn't taken lightly. Twp Stori could find some improvement now faced with a stiffer test of stamina and he may fare best of the remainder.

MAJOR FORTUNE won easily here last week and a 7 lb penalty is unlikely to prevent him making it 4 in a row if showing up in similar form again. Last year's winner San Pedro also had plenty in hand when scoring last week and can give Dan Skelton's charge most to do.

San Pedro and MAJOR FORTUNE (nap) are both due to go up 6lb in future handicaps but the latter is preferred.

15:53 Thurles Maiden Hurdle 24f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

The form of RUSHMOUNT's close second on debut in a maiden hurdle over 2m7f at this track looks particularly strong. The Shirocco gelding just failed by a neck and the horse that pipped him has since finished second in a Garde 2 and third in a Grade 1. Nos Na Riogh is up in trip after a pair of runner-up finishes at Navan and Naas, but should deal with it as a former point-to-point winner. The horse that beat him in Navan franked the form in no uncertain terms when winning a Grade 1 novice hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival. Find A Fortune was no match for the odds-on favourite in second at Punchestown last month, but there is likely more to come from him.

Essentially a three-horse race, with NAS NA RIOGH fancied to step forward again, the staying trip promising to suit Henry de Bromhead's representative. Rushmount and Find A Fortune both chased home useful types on their previous outings and also appeal as capable of better, so can't be discounted in a trappy contest.

Just denied over C&D on his hurdles debut in November, RUSHMOUNT could have a stamina edge here over Nas Na Riogh

16:05 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

FIRST COMPANY is in smart form, with two wins from his last four appearances, and his most recent second at Southwell reads well in the context of this race. Mark Loughnane's gelding is only 1lb higher and he can continue his fine run. Thismydream, who has finished third on each of his last two starts, has been dropped 1lb for the latest of those displays so it would be no surprise to see him involved, along with Come On Girl after her fourth at Southwell.

An open-looking sprint in which the suggestion is THANK THE LORD, who needs to put a lesser effort behind him but had been in good form prior and goes particularly well at this track. Northcliff is a long-standing maiden, but he may emerge as the main danger back sprinting and with Jamie Spencer booked, with Come On Girl and First Company both not out of things, either.

Thank The Lord can leave a quiet run behind him but FIRST COMPANY is enjoying a good winter and can go in again.

16:15 Lingfield Handicap Chase (Class 5) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Galway Mahler appreciated the less-testing conditions when opening his account over fences at Huntingdon last month. Although a 7lb rise in the handicap seems more than fair for that victory, the softer ground here may prove the seven-year-old's undoing. With that in mind, the more solid proposition appears to be the in-form TWENTY TWENTY, who backed up his Wincanton triumph in December with a solid third the following month. C&D scorer Ramore Will could also have a say.

CAMULUS has hinted at a bigger effort in his time with Christian Williams and he's made a significant move to a stable enjoying a terrific season, so he gets the nod over recent winner Galway Mahler. Moodofthemoment is a danger if he can build on his latest effort, although he lacks consistency.

Venetia Williams' horses often run well after an absence and CAMULUS could be on a handy mark on his first run for his new yard.

16:23 Thurles Handicap Hurdle 16f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

It isn't hard to see PORT RASHID running well for father and daughter Timothy and Jody Townend. The veteran won this race last year and is only 1lb higher in the weights this time. He should be ripe for this assignment after a plugging-on fourth over fences here just over a week ago. He also won this race back in 2020 and another bold bid looks more than likely. Robindevidastar has every chance of getting his turn. He comes into this race in the best form by some way courtesy of a pair of runner-up berths at Fairyhouse and Clonmel. Star Official's fourth place at Naas came in a much higher grade, so his chance has to be respected. Lake Chad is another that ought to be in the mix.

STAR OFFICIAL deserves full marks for consistency and could well be up to doubling his tally if the fitting of cheekpieces can eke out a bit of improvement. Veteran Port Rashid and Future Proof head the opposition.

THE VIRGINIAN could be a big player back over hurdles after a promising chase debut last time and he can come on for that

16:35 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Reverberation failed to justify favouritism over C&D, but he was far from disgraced in second and he remains in great heart so has to be considered. However, the vote goes to FILLYFUDGE, who has had a couple of spins over timber and was well beaten, but returns to the Flat on a workable mark and goes for the in-form Amy Murphy stable. Mirabello Bay has been thereabouts in this grade since December and could also get into contention.

Having landed a quick-fire hat-trick in January, OPTIK was far from disgraced in a strong race for the grade at Wolverhampton 2 weeks ago and he's worth another chance to prove his present mark remains a workable one. Reverberation is enjoying a good spell and is feared most, ahead of his stablemate Mirabello Bay.

The vote goes to REVERBERATION who has been in fine form at this venue in recent months and can make it 2-2 under Ethan Jones.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

There was plenty of encouragement to be taken from WISE GUY's handicap bow when weakening into third at Huntingdon earlier this month. An extended 2m3f trip appeared to stretch his stamina that day and compensation could await the five-year-old on this return to 2m. Double Click travelled with a lot more verve in the first-time cheekpieces at Leicester latest and the Flemensfirth gelding may give the selection most to think about. Bridge completes the shortlist.

DOUBLE CLICK found improvement for first-time cheekpieces at Leicester a month ago and, if the headgear continues to have a positive effect, he should take the beating. Bridge is a solid alternative and Arabescato is an interesting handicap debutant on just his second outing for his current stable.

Jim Boyle's TELLMESOMETHINGOOD went close at Plumpton before contesting a much stronger race than this at the meeting here last month.

16:53 Thurles NH Flat Race 16f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Willie Mullins' Doyen mare LADY GOONER is an obvious starting point given her trainer's very strong record in bumpers this season. She is a half-sister to a stayer who has won six times on the track, and is sure to be well schooled for her racecourse bow. Gordon Elliott's Wudya is a half-sister to a Grade 2 bumper runner-up, so has plenty going for her on paper. Lady Rose Hackett has switched to Henry de Bromhead ahead of her Rules debut after landing a point-to-point at Boulta in December. That experience will stand her in good stead and she avails of John Gleeson's assistance in the saddle.

LADY ROSE HACKETT won a point comfortably and she's related to a bumper winner, so she's worth chancing to get the better of Lady Gooner, who represents the top yard in this sphere. Wudya is another interesting newcomer given her connections.

SANSRISK sets a decent standard after a close 5th in a Leopardstown maiden hurdle and she can put that experience to good use here

17:00 Newcastle Maiden (Class 4) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

A highly encouraging second on her introduction at Chelmsford last month, KITTERIDGE sets the standard and can go one better at a track that should suit. Placed on her last two starts, Sea Ice should be open to improvement over further, while the same can be said of Dazzling Jewel, who was only fourth when odds-on for her Haydock debut but is related to Group winners Silver Lady and Highland Avenue and is out of Cheveley Park heroine Lumiere.

SEA ICE sets the standard and should have more to offer up in trip, so is preferred to Dazzling Jewel, who was too green to ever justify market confidence at Haydock on debut in September but showed enough to suggest she'll be a different proposition this time. Kitteridge is another to consider after her promising debut second at Chelmsford.

Preference is for the well-bred Godolphin filly DAZZLING JEWEL who can leave her sole 2yo run well behind. Sea Ice is feared.

17:30 Newcastle Handicap (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

STAR MIND has been a revelation since joining the Jack Jones stable and a 4lb rise for her most recent success over C&D may not be enough to stop her from going in again. She gets the vote ahead of Kempton winner Havanarama, as well as Smart Vision, who has run with plenty of credit here the last twice and should be suited by going back up in distance on his handicap bow.

HAVANARAMA didn't look all out at Kempton last month so a 4 lb rise may not prevent him going in again. The consistent Likeashadow may give him most to do ahead of last-time-out C&D scorer Star Mind.

Star Mind could yet progress further but HAVANARAMA (nap), the other last-time-out winner in the field, is preferred.

18:00 Newcastle Handicap (Class 3) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

COVER UP posted an authoritative success over C&D earlier this month and, off a 5lb higher mark, John and Thady Gosden's charge should be tough to stop once more. On his penultimate start, Intervention finished a solid third over 5f at Wolverhampton and, now dropping back to the minimum trip after a subdued effort over 7f last week, the keen-going seven-year-old can make his presence felt. Moon Flight scored by a head over C&D, but a 4lb rise may make life tougher.

COVER UP is very much going the right way and he had something to spare again over C&D last time, so he gets the nod ahead of fellow recent C&D winner Moon Flight. Intervention is expected to get back on his game, so he's hard to rule out.

Moon Flight is improving but so too is COVER UP and the Gosden runner is fancied to complete an AW hat-trick.

18:30 Newcastle Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Less than a length separated Warminster (second) and Asadjumeirah (fourth) when they clashed over this course and distance last month but the latter has a 2lb pull and can reverse the form. However, this could be tactical and, with that in mind, CARLTON AND CO shades preference. Handily drawn and running off 3lb below her only previous winning mark, the Mick and David Easterby-trained mare ticks enough boxes to be worth chancing in this closely-knit handicap. Rory can also figure if he doesn't fluff the start.

BURJ MALINKA has run well fresh before and takes a slight drop in grade on this return to action, so he's put forward as the answer. Nazca still looks feasibly treated based on his C&D win last month, while Asadjumeirah ought to give another good account.

Carlton And Co is in top form and can go well but RORY may be able to quickly bounce back from Saturday's rare blip.

19:00 Newcastle Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

THE GAY BLADE's last two efforts were below par, but those races took place over 5f and 7f and the Iain Jardine-trained gelding is dangerous to underestimate back over 6f. A winner over this course and distance last month, the five-year-old can bounce back, with this distance rated key. Flash The Dash also won over C&D latest and is respected off 3lb higher, despite having ground to make up with the selection based that aforementioned January encounter. The veteran Athollblair Boy completes the shortlist.

ATHOLLBLAIR BOY is now firmly into the veteran stage but he proved game as he brought up an eighth C&D success 5 weeks ago and a 3 lb rise shouldn't prevent him going well again in this groove. Thaki has signalled his turn isn't far away of late and he's feared along with recent C&D winner Flash The Dash. The Gay Blade would prove a danger to all granted his own way on the front end.

Abolish and THAKI lurk on handy marks and the latter is marginally preferred this evening.

19:30 Newcastle Handicap (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

WIN WIN POWER kept on well to score over 7f at Wolverhampton last month, and a 3lb rise may not be enough to stop Mick Appleby's charge from going in again. Irish Flame posted an excellent third in a higher grade over C&D and, off an unchanged mark, he can give the selection most to think about. Havana Party finished a creditable second over 1m2f at Redcar when last seen and may reach the frame.

WIN WIN POWER won quite tidily at Wolverhampton last month so a 3 lb rise may not prevent him going in again. Martin's Brig has run well on his last 3 visits here and is second choice ahead of Irish Flame.

This could go to MARTIN'S BRIG who has been knocking firmly on the door of late. Win Win Power is next on the list.

20:00 Newcastle Stakes (Class 6) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Just a head separated Wheres The Crumpet (second) and STAND FREE (third) when the pair met over 1m2f here 12 days ago. Although the latter weakened late on, she hit the front going easily approaching the two-furlong marker and gets the vote now dropped in trip. Eva Rosie reached the frame in a similar contest at Southwell last month and she could find more for the addition of first-time cheekpieces.

LEDGER was a bit disappointing at this course last time but he takes a drop in grade now and is worth a chance to outclass some limited rivals. Wheres The Crumpet arrives in form and is regarded as a danger, while Stand Free showed more encouraging signs on her latest outing, so she's not ruled out.

Two-time C&D winner STAND FREE faded into third in a 1m2f classified here recently and can capitalise on the drop back in trip.

20:30 Newcastle Handicap (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

An open event in which it might pay to take a chance on ENRAGED. Off the track since posting a couple of below-par efforts on turf last year, the Julie Camacho-trained five-year-old will appreciate the return to an artificial surface and might yet have more to offer. Mehmo continues to knock on the door and is unlikely to be far away, along with Phoenix Star, who finished a creditable fourth at Kempton last weekend, having been caught too far back.

ELZAAL has built up a very solid record over this C&D and, having hit the ground running back from a break last winter, he's fancied to make a bold bid to repeat the feat from a workable mark. Phoenix Star returned to this C&D and Enraged are others fancied to be in the mix, along with Mehmo.

Phoenix Star should go well but it might be worth chancing top-weight MURBIH on a rare foray into Class 6 company.
