LTO Selection:

13:15 Newcastle Listed (Class 1) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Dear My Friend made the frame in the Zetland Stakes at Newmarket last autumn, and also took third behind subsequent Breeders' Cup winner Victoria Road in France, and he sets the standard on official ratings. However, ROUSING ENCORE's second in the Mill Reef just shades things when it comes to prestige and the Richard Fahey-trained colt could be the one to side with now he steps up in trip. Obelix holds a 2000 Guineas entry and also has to be feared.

GALERON progressed well at 2 yrs, bagging a valuable big-field sales event at the Curragh on his final start, and gets the vote with that form looking rock solid. This does look a very competitive listed race though, with useful prospects Arabian Storm and Flight Plan heading the dangers.

Plenty have possibilies in this fascinating event but the Gosdens' impressive C&D winner OBELIX gets the vote on his return.

Mr Inspiration

10/1(-25%)
(8) Mr Inspiration 10/1, Lightly-raced winner. Winner at Kempton in February. Very good fourth of 11 in handicap back at that venue (12f, 11/2) 28 days ago, outpaced home turn and keeping on. This sort of test may be on the sharp side on that evidence.
2

Sausalito

14/1(-27%)
(16) Sausalito 14/1, Comes here on a roll, landing quick-fire 5-timer in a C&D handicap last month. Not disgraced despite having winning run ended from career-high mark when third back here 7 days ago and this demands even more.
3
3rd (5) Dream Harder (14/1 +0%)
Dream Harder

14/1(+0%)
(5) Dream Harder 14/1, Improved model for Ian Williams, adding to his tally at Wolverhampton (9.5f) in February. Probably best not judged too harshly on either of his starts since and worth noting he remains unexposed at this sort of trip.
4
4th (1) Buxted Too (9/1 +10%)
Buxted Too

9/1(+10%)
(1) Buxted Too 9/1, Enjoyed a highly-productive winter, gaining sixth success since October over C&D in March. Not in same form when fifth at Wolverhampton (12.2f) 3 weeks ago but bounce back certainly not ruled out.
5th
5th (6) Satono Chevalier (5/1 +0%)
Satono Chevalier

5/1(+0%)
(6) Satono Chevalier 5/1, Irish raider who comes here on a roll, readily landing back-to-back Dundalk handicaps at around this trip in February. Mark has understandably risen considerably but feasible to think he's not yet reached his limit.

6/1(+50%)
(9) Idee Fixee 6/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 4/5, creditable second of 7 in minor event at this course (10f, AW) 30 days ago, no match for winner. Present mark looks a workable one and he's totally unexposed at this sort of trip so possibilities with cheekpieces enlisted.
7th
7th (4) Legendary Day (20/1 -135%)
Legendary Day

20/1(-135%)
(4) Legendary Day 20/1, Made a fine start for this yard, tasting success over hurdles at Sedgefield (16.8f) in November and landed each of his last 2 starts on the Flat, latterly at Newcastle (12.5f) 24 days ago. Should remain competitive operating from 3 lb higher mark.

8th (13) Dinoo (11/1 -10%)
Dinoo

11/1(-10%)
(13) Dinoo 11/1, 5/2, career best when winning 5-runner handicap at Newcastle (10.2f) 43 days ago, decisively on top at the line. Longer trip within range and rider's claim off sets subsequent rise in weights so he's worth a second look.

(7) Vega Sicilia 3/1, Winner at Wolverhampton in December. Evens, good second of 6 in handicap at Newcastle (12.4f) 36 days ago, clear of rest. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Expected to be bang there.

(14) Muzaffar 9/1, Creditable 1¼ lengths third of 7 to Legendary Day in handicap at Newcastle (12.4f, 10/11) 24 days ago, having plenty go wrong in the race. Remains unexposed on back of just 6 career starts and strong chance he can rate higher still.

Thefastnthecurious

50/1(-79%)
(15) Thefastnthecurious 50/1, Winner at Southwell in January. 9/1, creditable third of 8 in handicap at Southwell (14.1f) 45 days ago, nearest finish. Clearly in good form but this rates tougher.
12th
12th (3) Pirate King (18/1 -13%)
Pirate King

18/1(-13%)
(3) Pirate King 18/1, 4-time C&D winner. Fifteen runs since last win in 2021. Fourth of 6 in handicap (18/1) at Newcastle (12.4f) 36 days ago, not well served by a modestly-run affair. Stronger gallop will help returned to a venue he's often saved his best for.
13th
13th (11) Fairmac (20/1 +9%)
Fairmac

20/1(+9%)
(11) Fairmac 20/1, Back on last winning mark, returned to form following 4 months off when 1¾ lengths fourth of 7 to Legendary Day in handicap at Newcastle (12.4f, 11/2) 24 days ago, rallying last ½f. However, suspicion is he will find a few too good here.
14th
14th (12) Pistoletto (28/1 -12%)
Pistoletto

28/1(-12%)
(12) Pistoletto 28/1, C&D winner. Sixteen runs since last win in 2022. Never figured in face of stiff task when 18½ lengths last of 8 to Lord North in Winter Derby at this course (10f, AW) 41 days ago. This more suitable bothers make greater appeal on balance.
LTO Selection:

13:30 Lingfield Handicap (Class 4) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Satono Chevalier has really found his stride since being campaigned over 1m4f, with two comfortable victories recorded in the space of five days at Dundalk in February. The Irish challenger, however, does race off a 12lb higher mark on these shores and he may prove vulnerable to the progressive VEGA SICILIA. The four-year-old lost little in defeat when runner-up to the improving Barenboim at Newcastle last month and the application of first-time cheekpieces might aid his cause further. The lightly-raced Mr Inspiration should have more to offer and is another to note.

Plenty hold claims in a competitive opener and it may pay to side with VEGA SICILIA. Runner-up on each of his last 3 starts in handicaps, he pulled a long way clear with a thriving sort on the latest occasion at Newcastle 5 weeks ago and the application of first-time cheekpieces may just put an extra edge on him here. Irish-raider Satono Chevalier, low-mileage 4-y-o Muzaffar and Idee Fixee head up the dangers, whilst Dream Harder isn't underestimated either.

This can go to SATONO CHEVALIER who, despite a big hike in the weights, can complete the hat-trick after two emphatic wins at Dundalk.

13:40 Bath Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

The unexposed MA FAMILLE steps into handicap company on a workable mark and could provide the answer to a tricky contest. The daughter of Starspangledbanner showed improved form in two spins on the all-weather in February and having chased home a progressive opponent when a good second at Kempton last time out, she is worth following switched back to turf. Mintana is respected in the first-time cheekpieces, while Furnicoe and Regal Glory are others worthy of consideration.

EXCEED ran his best race to date and caught the eye to boot when runner-up at Southwell (5f) 3 days ago, outpaced over 1f out and keeping on well last ½f. He gets the nod to come out on top back on turf from a handy draw. Ma Famille chased home a next-time-out winner at Kempton in February and is feared on handicap debut, with Mintana and Captain Dandy completing the shortlist.

The vote goes to CAPTAIN DANDY, who won at Wolverhampton last month and is a big player if he can transfer his progress back to turf.

13:50 Newcastle Stakes (Class 2) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

PERDIKA has already faced some stiff tests on her travels this year but she has coped with them admirably, as is testified by her Listed triumph in France last month. This is tougher back against the boys, but her sex allowance creates strong hope that she will again rise to the challenge. Shouldvebeenaring, who wasn't beaten far in the Spring Cup at Lingfield, has progressed well and should be capable of another bold showing. Shaquille heads the remainder.

SHAQUILLE took his form to another level when defying a penalty at Wolverhampton in December, clocking a good time in the process, and he shades the vote over Shouldvebeenaring, who was left with too much to do at Lingfield last time. Perdika is another to consider having won a listed event at Chantilly last month.

Perdika and Danger Alert are greatly respected but SHAQUILLE is a classy sprinter in the making and can make it 3-3 over 6f.

14:05 Lingfield Handicap (Class 3) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

MR ESCOBAR may well need to improve to win off his opening mark, but that looks a distinct possibility having joined Willie Mullins since his maiden triumph at Dundalk in January. Ehteyat was headed near the finish by reopposing rival First Emperor over C&D in January, but may gain his revenge now 8lb better off in the weights and is feared most. Halic arrives in fine form and is another who can't be discounted as he bids in his quest to land a hat-trick.

MR ESCOBAR has improved with each outing in maidens in Ireland, getting off the mark at the third attempt at Dundalk in January. Stepping up in trip on handicap debut, he's joined a leading NH outfit and it would be no surprise to see him make a bold bid with Ryan Moore in the plate. Carzola is going the right way and she's feared along with Ehteyat. Halic may also have more to offer now his stamina is drawn out further.

John McConnell's KHADAASH is preferred to Halic, Ehteyat and Mr Escobar. Stacks have each-way claims.

LTO Selection:

14:15 Bath Handicap (Class 5) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

ENRAGED finished with a rattle when a good third at Newcastle a fortnight ago and, from a handy draw, she could be hard to repel with Richard Kingscote now doing the steering. Having only raced eight times on turf, Julie Camacho's consistent filly still has more to give and she is taken to register another personal best. Kensington Agent looks a live danger and is taken seriously, while dual course winner Bluebell Time is not dismissed.

A typically wide-open affair with the narrow vote in favour of ENRAGED. Having ended last year in good form, she's continued the good work on AW since the turn of the year and, with the Julie Camacho stable continuing in fine form, she gets the nod to come out on top. The returning Sows, Kensington Agent and Four Adday are just a trio of others to consider.

Plenty have possibilities but Julie Camacho's progressive filly ENRAGED gets the vote ahead of triple turf winner Mary Of Modena.

LTO Selection:

14:25 Newcastle Stakes (Class 2) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

BERKSHIRE ROCCO has a touch of class and has scope to go further now he's proven he has the stamina. His last two performances suggest a race of this nature is within his compass and, with the in-form Oisin Murphy back in the saddle, all the pieces fit together well enough to expect a big run from the six-year-old. Earlofthecotswolds doesn't have much to find with the selection judged on their encounter at Kempton in February, while Nolton Cross is also fancied to be thereabouts.

BERKSHIRE ROCCO is making up for lost time now and had a few of these in behind when runner-up to a smart one at Kempton 8 weeks ago. The likely stiffer test here will suit and he looks the one to beat. Barenboim continues to go from strength to strength for this yard and must be respected despite slight stamina doubts, while last year's winner Earlofthecotswolds just held off Fleurman at Wolverhampton last month and there shouldn't be much between the pair again.

Berkshire Rocco is the form horse on recent evidence but FLEURMAN and Earlofthecotswolds are appealing alternatives.

LTO Selection:

14:40 Lingfield Handicap (Class 3) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

BREWING kept his unbeaten record intact when winning with a gutsy display at Newcastle in December and William Haggas' charge is fancied to continue his upwards trajectory now tackling a mile for the first time. Final Voyage has been given a short break since his creditable runner-up efforts at Dundalk and he warrants consideration with top apprentice Billy Loughnane now in the saddle. Aussie Banker and Mulgrave both arrive at the top of their game and add further spice to the mix.

BREWING won all 3 of his starts last year, still showing signs of greenness when making a successful handicap debut at Newcastle on his final outing, and he can extend his winning sequence with further progress to come. The main danger could be Aussie Banker who has been progressing nicely this winter, with Irish-raider Final Voyage another to consider.

A chance is taken with HAFEET ALAIN who has winning form over C&D and is on a favourable mark if rediscovering anything like his best.

LTO Selection:

14:50 Bath Handicap (Class 6) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

The in-form Meisterzinger will be popular after his brace of wins in classified events at Kempton and he is respected running off 4lb lower than his last winning handicap rating. However, his two previous efforts on turf need to be bettered and he is worth taking on. Having won from the same mark at Yarmouth last summer, FAST FORWARD fits the bill on these terms and he is effective with some give underfoot. Hill Station completes the shortlist.

FAST FORWARD has made the frame at Wolverhampton on his last 2 starts, despite having a hopeless task from his position on his latest outing, so he could be ready to return to winning ways this time around. C&D winner My Brother Mike is feared most with his reappearance run behind him, ahead of the hat-trick seeking Meisterzinger.

Dominic Ffrench Davis's horses ran well at Doncaster last Saturday and BOY GEORGE (nap) is handicapped to play a leading role.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Freescape has failed to make much of an impact out in Dubai, but he shouldn't be underestimated now back home and he warrants respect. However, FOREST OF DEAN shaped better than the bare form when weakening into sixth in the Winter Derby - a prize he claimed in 2021 - and the John Gosden-trained seven-year-old is fancied to regain the winning thread in these calmer waters. His stablemate Harrovian finished ahead in fourth on that occasion, but could only manage third when the selection struck over this C&D in January.

FOREST OF DEAN started 2023 with a cosy C&D success and has less on his plate than when sixth to stablemate Lord North in Lingfield's Winter Derby so looks the way to go. Irish-challenger Freescape shouldn't be underestimated and is next on the list ahead of Base Note, who wasn't seen to best effect at Wolverhampton last time.

Preference is for the in-form NOTRE BELLE BETE now back up in trip. Forest Of Dean is feared most ahead of stablemate Harrovian

LTO Selection:

15:15 Lingfield Handicap (Class 3) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Epsom Faithfull has struggled in much deeper waters recently, including when finishing last here in Listed company over 5f in February. She can improve at this level, but the vote goes to the Chris Dwyer-trained SIR OLIVER. The gelded son of Dark Angel runs off the same mark following a decent third at Chelmsford last month and could be worth siding with down in class. Shalaa Asker has to shoulder a 5lb penalty following a game win over this trip, also at Chelmsford, last Saturday and has to enter the reckoning with Ryan Moore in the saddle.

Lots with chances. WALKING ON CLOUDS is enjoying an excellent 2023 and can garner a fourth success on the back of his very good second here last time out. Epsom Faithfull will benefit from stepping back up in trip and is next on the list, although recent Chelmsford City scorer Shalaa Asker and in-form pair Laheg and Adeb need factoring in too.

A hot race in which EPSOM FAITHFULL is given another chance to confirm the promise of her Listed fifth over C&D in February.

LTO Selection:

15:25 Bath Handicap (Class 5) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Gastronomy remains unexposed and must hold every chance of building on a fair fifth over an extended mile at Wolverhampton, but a chance can be taken with ALPINE STROLL. He is now rated just 2lb above his last winning mark and a drop in class from his reappearance at Kempton last month could see him improve back on turf. Grand Canal and Atlantis Blue add further spice to the mix.

Lots with chances but Roger Varian's GASTRONOMY appeals as the sort to take a sizeable step forward now he goes handicapping with his stamina drawn out more so gets the vote. Cabrakan enjoyed a good winter over hurdles for Milton Harris and is feared most back in this sphere, with both Atlantis Blue and Reach weighted to have a say.

There are ifs and buts about all the runners but KING EAGLE is open to improvement at this trip for his new yard.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

BERKSHIRE SHADOW looked back to his best when winning the Lady Wulfruna Stakes at Wolverhampton last month and the 2021 Coventry Stakes hero can stamp his class on this contest too. Positive is rated 5lb inferior to the selection, but is clearly in good heart having completed a brace of handicap victories. He is feared most, ahead of Irish raider San Andreas, who struck over this distance in taking fashion at Dundalk last time out.

POSITIVE has looked right back on song when landing a pair of very useful AW handicaps this winter and is narrowly preferred to last month's Wolverhampton listed winner Berkshire Shadow. Irish-raider San Andreas may prove best of the remainder.

Irish raider SAN ANDREAS went very close in this last year and can emerge on top this time, having bolted up at Dundalk in March.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Although WAR IN HEAVEN failed to secure a fifth consecutive win when stepping up in class for his latest outing at Wolverhampton, he is entitled to bounce back at this level and is worth another crack here. Storm Catcher was a game winner over this trip at Chelmsford in February and he can have a say in proceedings off 4lb higher, while Obsidian Knight is capable of being in the mix.

It's fair to say this is wide open. DIDEROT has started 2023 with 3 very solid efforts and gets the vote but there are lots of dangers, headed by Obsidian Knight, who has a good course record, Million Thanks and last year's winner Dembe.

The choice is OUTBREAK who was unlucky not to go even closer when fourth in the Lincoln Trial last month after meeting early trouble.

LTO Selection:

16:00 Bath Handicap (Class 6) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

A game winner over an extended 1m1f at Wolverhampton last month, CARACRISTI makes plenty of appeal on her return to turf and she is fancied to have another big say in proceedings. Philip Kirby's filly has been handed a 2lb rise and can go in again. Well Prepared arrives on a hat-trick bid and should not be taken lightly back in handicap company, with Ebury and He's Our Star just a couple more to bear in mind.

The suggestion is SUPERSTAR DJ who has fewer convictions than the majority of these and shaped quite well for a long way on his Southwell reappearance 7 weeks ago. Daphne May is better than she showed last time and remains well treated on her best form so she's a possible threat. Latent Heat is another with plenty of handicapping scope if primed for this reappearance, while Knight of Kings won comfortably on the previous occasion he encountered soft turf and is one to monitor in the betting.

The step back up in trip should be a firm plus for KNIGHT OF KINGS on his second start back from a long absence and he's the pick.

LTO Selection:

16:10 Newcastle Stakes (Class 2) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

It is hard to look past MANAAFITH, who beat the boys in Listed company over a mile at Lingfield. A drop in trip may not be enough to stop the Roger Varian-trained filly adding to her tally because she accounted for Aramis Grey over this distance at Southwell on New Year's Day. Queen Aminatu progressed at a rate of knots towards the back end of 2022 and is feared most on her return to the fray. Aramis Grey has held her form since that Southwell defeat at the hands of the selection, and saw off last week's impressive Cammidge Trophy scorer Vadream at Lingfield.

MANAAFITH stretched her unbeaten record on synthetics to six when posting a career-best display to land a listed event at Lingfield in February and, with further progress on the cards, she rates the one to side with again. That said, Queen Aminatu is compiling a very solid record of her own and shouldn't be underestimated. Hodd's Girl can do best of the others.

This is probably between Manaafith and QUEEN AMINATU (nap), and the votes goes the latter who sets the standard on her return.

LTO Selection:

16:25 Lingfield Handicap (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SPRING PROMISE was receiving 7lb from Choisya when coming out on top in a tight finish here in February, but the latter has since run well from a mark of 84 in handicap company, so the unexposed daughter of Lope De Vega doesn't look overburdened by her opening mark of 78, with further improvement likely. Sayifyouwill won a similar C&D event in February and she must be respected raised just 1lb, along with Miss Bella Brand, who should appreciate a step up in trip having finished a staying-on second at Chelmsford last time.

SPRING PROMISE had more in hand than the bare margin suggests when winning her maiden over C&D 7 weeks ago and an opening mark of 78 may underestimate her. The unexposed Incrimination is a possible threat, while the reliable Granary Queen should be in the mix again.

Although taking on seasoned rivals, SPRING PROMISE (nap) should have more to give at 7f. Sayifyouwill is preferred of the others.

LTO Selection:

16:35 Bath Handicap (Class 6) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

In a wide-open contest, a chance is taken with SCHUMANN. Richard Hughes' charge couldn't land a blow across his three qualifying runs, the latest of those over 6f. He should be suited by the return to further, however, and first-time cheekpieces could spark an improved effort. Landlordtothestars has been running well on the all-weather recently and he looks capable of playing a part back on the grass. Others to note include Double Down and Eight Mile.

DOUBLE DOWN improved having been ridden closer to the pace when just edged out at Kempton 4 weeks ago and should go well up 2 lb and in a change of headgear. Eight Mile showed good speed stepped up to this trip when scoring at Lingfield last week and rates a big threat under a penalty, while Landlordtothestars should be in the mix if seeing out this longer distance.

Richard Hughes's horses are running well and SCHUMANN is the pick with the step back up in trip promising to suit on handicap debut.

LTO Selection:

16:45 Newcastle Stakes (Class 2) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

ANNAF has taken his game to a new level this winter and completed a hat-trick when keeping on strongly to land Listed honours at Lingfield. The son of Muhaarar can continue his forward momentum, but Vadream bounced back to winning form in emphatic style at Doncaster last weekend and can give him plenty to think about. Diligent Harry was denied by the selection at Lingfield and after then defying top weight in handicap company here, struggled in France. He still merits consideration, as does Mums Tipple.

ANNAF has thrived on the AW this year, overcoming the run of the race when completing the hat-trick in a listed race at Lingfield 2 months ago, and appeals as the most likely winner. Diligent Harry was a neck behind the selection that day and has since won a C&D handicap so rates the main threat once again, while Vadream can't be ignored after her impressive win at Doncaster on Saturday.

Annaf is on a roll but the veteran SUMMERGHAND might be able to reverse February placings with him at this stiffer track.

17:00 Lingfield Handicap (Class 4) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

EXPERT AGENT arrives in search of a hat-trick having recorded back-to-back successes recently, the latest of those coming over C&D, and a subsequent 5lb rise in the handicap might not be enough to halt further progress. Huberts Dream is weighted to reverse the form with his recent Wolverhampton conqueror Democracy Dilemma, and he should appreciate the return here, where he boasts three wins from four visits. Havana By The Sea should not be underestimated on her return from a 113-day absence.

EXPERT AGENT has returned from a break a much-improved model and there's no real urge to oppose him in his hat-trick bid after having scored with a bit up his sleeve over C&D last time. Havana By The Sea ran well in a race that's worked out well at Southwell on her most recent outing, so she must enter the reckoning, while Maharajas Express is worth another chance having had little go right on his handicap debut at Kempton.

Expert Agent is greatly respected but HUBERTS DREAM can resume winning ways back at 6f.

LTO Selection:

17:10 Bath Handicap (Class 6) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Waleyfa is 2lb well-in under a 5lb penalty having claimed classified honours last week and she merits respect along with Come To Pass, who continues to run well in defeat and was beaten less than a length by Recuerdame at Lingfield. SEATTLE KING split them on that occasion, but Phil McEntee's gelding is extremely well treated judged on past exploits and recent performances on the all-weather would suggest it might not be long until he cashes in on a sliding handicap mark.

WALEYFA opened her account in impressive fashion on her first outing for Allice Haynes at Lingfield 11 days ago and looks well treated under a 5 lb penalty on that effort back in handicap company, so the follow up is very much on the cards. Seattle King and Moon Over The Sea head the opposition.

This can go to WALEYFA who is 2lb well in under a penalty for her successful stable debut at Lingfield 11 days ago.
