ANNEXATION arrives following a couple of solid performances on the level and is the highest rated in this line-up with an official hurdles rating of 129. Tony Carroll's appears to have found an excellent opportunity for his gelding and in a race lacking depth, he can come out on top. Collingham defeated Honneur D'Ajonc (second) in a similar contest at Catterick in March and is expected to confirm his superiority, while Figaroc should not be overlooked.

In a trappy race with most on the downgrade COLLINGHAM is taken to confirm Catterick form with Honneur d'Ajonc.

HERJA showed improvement from first to second start when third at Newcastle last time out, and the step up in trip may be just what is needed to see her get off the mark. Well beaten on each of his last two starts, Golan Loop may be a different proposition after wind surgery, while Solal Nonantais makes his hurdles bow and is taken to better his bumper effort at Hexham.

This could be a very good opportunity for Irish-trained mare HERJA, who was placed in a more competitive race than this in February.

Miss Fedora cruised to success from 7lb lower at Plumpton last month before struggling when 4lb out of the handicap in a class 4 event next time. She'll appreciate an ease in grade and being able to compete from her proper mark though, but it is KATE MADRIK that gets the vote. Mickey Bowen's charge has yet to shine on her two UK appearances, but she was a dual chase winner when trained in France so returning to the larger obstacles might spark a return to form. Generous Scorpion heads the remainder.

Dual chase winner MISS FEDORA can bounce back to form and is preferred to Generous Scorpion.

Now that the penny has dropped for TROPICAL SPEED on his third start for these connections at Stratford in March, the six-year-old may have plenty more to come as he goes back up in trip. A 7lb rise for that win could prove lenient and he is preferred to Champetre, who has been in consistent form of late. Stepping up markedly in distance, Victor Haze is another to consider.

The most obvious answer is TROPICAL SPEED, who kept on strongly for a clearcut win at Stratford last month.

CLAIM DU BRIZAIS opened her account in a bumper here last month but Dan Skelton's mare, who changed hands for 130,000 pounds at the sales last March, should be even better over an obstacle and she's expected to take all the beating. Red Panda holds an official rating of 96 and if running to similar level she could claim second place, while Back In The Bay looks best of the remainder.

Skelton runner CLAIM DU BRIZAIS, who won a bumper here last time, is likely to prove hard to beat on her hurdles debut.

A promising second on his chase debut at Wetherby in March, BASELINE is likely to come forward for that effort and looks the one to beat off 2lb higher. Jet Of Dreams has been in excellent form of late and he may not be done improving yet. Gower Prince looked to be in control when falling at the last at Chepstow recently and cannot be overlooked.

There is more to come from lightly raced 7yo BASELINE (nap), who launched his chasing career with a good second at Warwick in March.

Market House has been in good form on the Flat and should have a big say revering to hurdles at this level. However, his past exploits in this discipline for a previous yard were quite inauspicious and he wouldn't be one for maximum faith. On the other hand, LENJOLEUR DE PALMA is a lightly-raced four-year-old with plenty of scope for progression and is a more intriguing option on just his second start in a handicap. Dartmouth Rose completes the shortlist.

Four of the runners are interesting on various counts. The percentage call goes to MARKET HOUSE, ahead of Raby Mere.

GOGUENARD showed a lot more when reverting to timber and finishing second at Bangor in February. The nine-year-old competes off an unchanged mark and looks the one to be with. Getuptheyard filled the runner-up spot at Chepstow in March and should remain competitive, while Clinton Lane is another to keep an eye on judged on the pick of his form.

After catching the eye making good headway in a C&D maiden last month, KARAKTERE D'ENFER looks interesting on his return to a handicap.

However, SUPASUNRISE finished a well-beaten third at Huntingdon in March and was dropped 1lb for that effort. The nine-year-old lurks on an appealing mark and may appreciate dropping back in trip. Another Folly sports first-time cheekpieces and completes the shortlist.

ROGUE LEGEND competes from a nice middle draw in six, has a fast pedigree and debuts for a yard which operates at a high strike-rate. By a good sprint sire, three of the selection's half-siblings each notably made winning juvenile debuts with one, Dave Dexter, scoring three times as a juvenile including at Listed level. The speedily-bred Raphello's sister Flotus also scored on debut, later winning a Group 3 and attaining a Group 1 place, so he could be quite smart. Oh Cecelia was supported on debut at the Curragh and ran well to finish second.

Oh Cecilia may be vulnerable to one of the well-bred newcomers and the one that appeals most is Paddy Twomey's ROGUE LEGEND.

However, JOHN BETJEMAN showed a big chunk of improvement when sporting a first-time visor to score at Newton Abbot last month. He might only need to reproduce that level of form in order to record a double. Gavin is another to note.

The suggestion is GAVIN, who returned from a break with a C&D second last month and ought to be better suited by today's faster ground.

SAPPHIRE PRINCESS failed to justify strong market confidence on her course debut last month but nonetheless showed nice ability and now drops down a furlong. Out of a Listed winner, she can progress. City Of Memphis, a half-sister to six winners, was an expensive 340,000-euro breeze-up purchase last May and while she makes a belated debut a year on, she could be smart. Turners Cross is noted too.

Paddy Twomey has a fine record at this track and his expensive filly CITY OF MEMPHIS may be up to making a winning debut.

The son of Malinas may have more to offer on only his fourth handicap start and will prove tough to beat. Tropical Talent failed to justify favouritism but wasn't disgraced in second at Hereford last time and is likely to be thereabouts. Of the remainder, Electric Jet makes the most appeal.

Judged on his efforts since dropped to 2m, ELECTRIC JET appears to have an ordinary race in him. Tropical Talent is second pick.

A first-time tongue-tie has been declared on BABOUCHE on her reappearance and returning to a sounder surface will suit. A fast filly and a top-class winner of August's Phoenix Stakes, soft ground proved her undoing at Newmarket and she is likely to be a force in sprints this year. Truly Enchanting is similarly penalised following her Group 2 success last June. Grande Marques' best run last year was when she finished second at Group 3 level at Newmarket and is another to consider.

With a rating of 113 it is hard to look past BABOUCHE (nap) who should be up to giving weight away on ground that suits.

Pottlerath struck in good style at Stratford on his most recent start and holds an obvious chance off 7lb higher. Impatient looks best of the rest.

IT'S TIM is difficult to oppose bidding for a four-timer. He clipped heels entering the home straight at Chelmsford last week, but still left the opposition trailing in his wake and the son of Ulysses can defy a double penalty on that evidence. Lednikov has been in winning form over 1m4f at Southwell this year and looks worth another try over this longer trip, while Alex The Great went close over course and distance in March and could also feature.

This looks a fine opportunity for IT'S TIM to complete the four-timer, while Lechuga Lad may also have more to offer.

SATURN is as tough as they come. Out of the brilliant Alpha Centauri, the grey colt battled gamely to win on his return to action at Navan last month. Now on a career-high mark of 94 and successful on four of his last six starts, he looks the one to beat in this valuable contest. A stable companion of the selection, Satin won on Irish Champions Weekend in 2023 and is capable of making an impact if returning to her best. An easy winner when last seen at Dundalk in November, Ascending is of definite interest with Billy Lee aboard.

There's more to come from SATURN who was good value for his narrow winning margin at Navan and has only been raised 3lb.

EARTH KING went in by just under a length in a stronger event at Exeter when last seen in October and makes his return to action off a 6lb higher mark. The nine-year-old should find this a little easier and can go in again. Ebony Warrior secured his second victory over the smaller obstacles at Warwick in March and is an interesting contender back in a handicap. Shantou Express is another to note.

With the cheekpieces retained, ROCKADENN may be able to end a long losing spell. Ebony Warrior is second choice.

BELA SONATA returned the convincing winner at Kempton on her reappearance. She can shrug off a penalty with the prospect of more to come over this extra furlong. Callisto Dream steps up from 6f with a shout, having made a winning debut at Carlisle last autumn. Her pedigree suggests today's trip will be well within her compass, while Mahogany Bay ran well for a long way when third over a mile at Newmarket and she has to be a threat on that form.

The two previous winners make most appeal under penalties, with CALLISTO DREAM shading it from Bela Sonata.

A dual winner in the UK and bought by current connections for 50,000 pounds, ZIPSTER gets the nod in this competitive affair. Slow into stride at Leopardstown in March, he had no luck in running thereafter and eventually finished a never-nearer fifth. Nicola Burns now takes over in the saddle and it'll be disappointing if he's not involved at the business end. A six-time winner from 19 starts in the UK, Lough Leane is of definite interest on his debut for rookie trainer Maurice Ahern, while others for the shortlist include Moyassr, Comfort Line and recent Navan victor Hurricane Helen.

It's easy to make cases for many of these. MOYASSR is lightly raced, well bred and for whom this return to further looks a big plus.

Market Rasen scorer Groovy Blue enters handicaps off a potentially workable mark and must enter calculations, along with Teorie and Liverpool Knight.

The vote goes to LIVERPOOL KNIGHT, who's used to plying his trade in better company and will appreciate the step back up in trip.

Romantic Spirit bids for a hat-trick of course and distance wins with solid claims. She beat the runner-up Silent Affair a shade cosily last time and can confirm superiority, despite 4lb worse terms. However, YELLOW CARD may prove the one to side with, given he ran into all sorts of trouble when second at Bath on his return to action and handicap debut. The son of Masar may well have won with normal luck in-running and he looks to have a good opportunity to make amends.

Romantic Spirit has a fair chance of a C&D hat-trick but YELLOW CARD looked an unlucky loser at Bath and can make amends.

From the family of Group 1 winner Termagant, INVENTRESS might be able to take this on debut. She interestingly holds an entry in next month's valuable Gowran Classic, and if she is to take up that engagement she'll need to be making an impact here. Paddy Twomey trains the selection and is also represented by 45,000-euro Tattersalls Breeze Up purchase Tenoya. Joseph O'Brien saddles three of the 17 declared and Kashel Spring may prove the best of them after an eye-catching debut effort last month. A runner-up on three of her last four starts, Adrienne is a leading player as well.

Preference is for ADRIENNE who responded well to blinkers last time and she's surely a winner waiting to happen.

SNOW CREEK was a credible third over 6f on his debut run in a handicap at Newcastle last month and, nudged down 1lb, he could be a different proposition with this longer trip looking ideal based on his pedigree. Take The Boat, the winner of three of his last four starts, is the most obvious danger, despite his revised mark meaning another personal best is required. Adelaide Bay's latest effort can be excused (hampered early) and he is another with a major chance.

Take The Boat is respected but SNOW CREEK should be suited by the step up in trip and can get off the mark.

ZAHRANN really finished with a flourish on debut at Navan last month and this step up in trip to 1m2f is likely to prove ideal. The Johnny Murtagh-trained selection went down by just a head to Mississippi River, with that horse subsequently finishing second in a valuable handicap at Naas last week. A beaten favourite on his return to action at Leopardstown, Game Point is an obvious danger. Des Moines had a subsequent winner just behind when fourth on his most recent start at Navan last October and this Camelot colt warrants the utmost respect too.

Zahrann ran a highly encouraging first race and Woodshaw could be interesting, but GAME POINT rates the most likely winner.

RENOIR was raised 5lb after winning at Hereford in March but Ben Clarke's gelding had pulled well clear with the runner-up that day and, with the prospect of more to come, that hike from the assessor could prove to be lenient. Katana goes handicapping with scope for improvement so makes plenty of appeal, and it would come as no surprise to see the consistent Estate Planning on the premises.

Katana needs to put in a better round of jumping, and preference is for RENOIR, who's proving better as a hurdler than on the Flat.

Brinton and Boujee Gold both have enticing claims based on their recent form, while previous course winner Calcutta Dream is back on his last winning rating and is dangerous to underestimate in representing shrewd connections. However, LHEBAYEB, a track-and-trip winner off 3lb lower in March, is dependable at this sort of level and, having gone well from a high draw here before, the Richard Price-trained gelding looks worth another chance.

Brinton boats a good record over C&D but MISS DANDYLION looks capable of winning off this mark when things drop favourably.

However, ZIGGY'S QUEEN is an attractive proposition running off 12lb below her last winning mark and could be worth chancing after displaying signs of a revival when she finished a respectable fifth in a similar race at Haydock last month. If anything, this is a shade easier and this looks a good time to side with Richard Fahey's filly.

Rift Valley remains open to improvement, as does COORAMOOK (nap), who bumped into one at Yarmouth and makes plenty of appeal.
