LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

Kirton Angel's debut run at York has a solid appearance and she may step forward now she has experience. However, the same must be said of BENBECULA, who looked a work in progress on his debut at Carlisle 13 days ago. A well-bred colt, whose price tag rose from 82,000gns as a foal to 240,000gns as a yearling, he is entitled to be a good deal wiser and a sharper start should see him in a much better light. Blue Pete and Deputy Vice complete the shortlist.

The winner of three of his last five start, HATAMOTO remains on a workable mark and has enough scope to brush aside a 2lb rise for his most recent win in a similar handicap at Thirsk. Fellow last-time-out winners Finn Ironside and Emery Down are other strong contenders, while the low-mileage Rousham is a previous C&D winner that could also have a big say on these terms. The consistent Luminous Warrior also warrants a betting check on just his second start for Christopher Kellett.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

EARNEST BELIEF has undergone wind surgery since a respectable third at Worcester in July. Given he lost a shoe during that race, the performance can upgraded and this could be a good time to catch the low-mileage four-year-old. The consistent Way Maker is a strong threat to the selection and this marginal step up in trip should suit the son of Walk In The Park. There might be more to come from Rock Armour on just his second start over hurdles and he is speculatively championed for third place.

Kevin Ryan's filly should give another good account, but there are others open to more improvement, with ORFILIA topping the bill. The Too Darn Hot filly posted a respectable fourth on her opening bid at Redcar and a race of this nature looks within her compass. Sunset Cove may enjoy this step up in distance and is feared most.

Curious Mrs Fox and Yanka Blue look best placed to take advantage should the selection falter.

There was a lot to like about STATE OF GOLD's all-the-way win on her nursery bow at Beverley last month and there could be more to come. A 5lb higher mark for Craig Lidster's filly could prove to be lenient and she may be served the most resistance by Fast Performer. Although the son of Showcasing was underwhelming on his latest fourth at Newmarket, his debut second at Nottingham suggests an opening mark of 72 is workable. North Star Kodi is the pick of the remainder.

Lucky Hero has made great strides since stepping up to 1m2f, winning over C&D and at Newmarket most recently. He's 10lb higher now and can't be underestimated despite a rise in grade, but THUNDER WONDER is preferred. Charlie Johnston's gelding was a real eyecatcher at Glorious Goodwood because after being hampered and detached soon after the start he flew home to finish a creditable fifth. This isn't as competitive and he can gain compensation from an unchanged mark. Fox Avatar is also noted.

GLENMALURE FLYER has won two of her three starts for Dan Skelton and conceding weight all round in this company might not be enough to prevent the progressive mare from adding to her tally. Limerick Leader must shoulder a 7lb penalty for winning at Bangor last Friday and is potential improver over this longer trip, while similar comments apply to Thank You Blue, who was a good second over these fences on his most recent start.

Although Blue Hercules has yet to make a breakthrough victory, he has posted several creditable efforts in defeat this season and is expected to be involved at the business end. However, the three-year-old may have to play second fiddle once again, with smart hurdler LORD BYRON edging the vote. A runner-up on his most recent outing in a Grade 1 at Punchestown, he could have too much class reverting to the level. Impierious and Flagbearer are other key contenders.

This is really open and only a tentative vote can go to COTAI STARLIGHT with that in mind. Katie Scott's filly was reeled in late by Royal Duke over C&D recently, with the pair clear of the third Never Dark. She's 1lb better off with the former and could gain compensation under her ideal conditions. Musselburgh victor Albegone is respected along with Go Victor, while it's hard to dismiss Opal Storm and Solid Bond too.

Al Fujairah and Golden Caviar both have the potential to do better now pitched into their first handicap, but it looks best to stick with SWEET KISS on this occasion. The switch to more aggressive tactics saw Hurstwood making all over C&D 18 days ago and he must enter calculations from a similar draw. However, the assessor has reacted in kind with a 7lb rise, which could leave the door open for reopposing fourth NIGHT EMPEROR. The four-year-old looked to be drawn on the wrong side that day and may exact his revenge off an unchanged mark. Stormy Pearl finished in third on that occasion and should feature, but she's effectively 5lb higher without Rhys Elliott's 5lb claim.

Sara Ender's charge has endured an interrupted campaign, but is now 1lb below his last winning mark and wasn't disgraced at this venue in April. Lipstick Traces is the pick of the remainder.

MARCO POLO flopped in the Gimcrack at York but he drops considerably in class and remains open to further progress. The Night Of Thunder colt finished second to a subsequent Group 3 winner on his debut at the Curragh and whilst he disappointed at York, it's possible that the race came a little too soon for him. Revelator is a half-brother to a Listed-placed juvenile and while he has shown some promise so far, he will probably need to find considerable improvement to score. Tennesspeed is also noted.

Ripon winner Zermatt Star and Hostility, who scored over C&D on his penultimate start, hold solid claims on recent form, while Bellasio goes well here and is dangerous to underestimate, despite posting a couple of below-par efforts since he won here in July. However, there could be some value up for grabs with EPIDAVROS, who won this off 3lb higher in 2024 and the fitting of first-time blinkers could be instrumental in Katie Scott's mare staging a revival back here.

Although PISANELLO found his winning run coming to an end at Leicester 31 days ago, he lost little in defeat in finding only a well-backed favourite too strong. The veteran scored two of this three recent victories at this venue and the return to a mile shouldn't prevent another bold showing. The New Bay Pearl also arrives here in good heart and merits consideration, along with June C&D winner Yafaarr.

Viking Glory won well at Brighton last month and the manner of that performance suggested the return to a mile would hold no concerns for James Owen's gelding. Violet Goldsmith and The Bureau Club boast a consistent level of form and are likely to be in the mix, but a chance is taken with handicap debutant MMMBOP. Given a break after her third start here in May, the performance to concentrate on is her effort the time before when third over C&D and a mark of 65 appears to be more than workable on that evidence.

GERRIT'S GEM is a three-time course winner who posted an improved display at the Curragh on his latest start. The six-year-old has dropped 14lb in the handicap since May of last year and whilst held in third last time, Jack Clearly is now able to utilise his 5lb claim. Five-time winner Jon Riggens scored at Navan recently and is respected with conditions likely to suit. Grande Curvee makes her handicap debut following three placed efforts in maidens, while All The Girls is able to operate from a much reduced mark on the turf relative to her all-weather rating.

Venetian Sky produced her best effort to date when runner-up on her handicap bow at Leicester and she reverts back into maiden company with an obvious chance. That said, she may be vulnerable to an improver in the shape of SEA BRAVE. Runner-up to a Listed winner on debut at Chelmsford in December, he returned to fill the same position over 7f here last month and it would be no surprise to see him take a decent step forward. Mercantile shaped with promise when second at Southwell and is capable of another decent showing.

HAVEN should improve considerably from a gentle introductory effort. Out of a Group-placed half-sister to dual Classic winner Lope De Vega, the selection was purchased for 550,000gns as a yearling and while unfancied at Galway, she still showed some promise and it's interesting that she still holds a Group 1 entry at this current stage. Frankel filly Castilian Queen is the first foal out of a Group 2 winner, while Atlantic Rose is half-sister to a Group 1 winner. Hanawa is a half-sister to three stakes performers and is another to note along with Emana.

GREEN KITE's form is all on slower ground and he is tempting with the forecast rain. On his penultimate start, he was a decent second at Leopardstown behind a winner who followed up in a valuable fillies' handicap at the Curragh and in a Listed race at Killarney. Colin Keane stays loyal to the four-year-old gelding. Gilts will also welcome juice in the ground and is only 3lb higher than when delivering at Gowran Park in June. Micasso is more than capable of a good run off his mark, while Spent All Me Money has definitely been given a chance by the handicapper.

LEX VICTORIA holds a couple of lofty entries, namely in the Fillies' Mile, and she made the perfect start to her racing career at Newmarket. Simon and Ed Crisford's filly will probably need to improve under her penalty, but the runner-up has since gone close in a warm maiden at Salisbury and experience could prove crucial. Dreamology fetched $600,000 as a yearling and is of interest for her in-form yard, while market support should also be noted for Sioux Empress and Pink Larkspur.

ENIGMA CODE attracted plenty of support on debut in Gowran Park but was slowly into stride and raced freely before finishing nicely for fourth. He looks sure to come on from that run stepping up in trip. Dermot Weld's Almeiyda sets the standard with a mark of 80. She wasn't at her best when a beaten favourite in seventh at Roscommon, but two previous runner-up berths at Galway and Roscommon give her every chance. There are plenty of winners in Storm Ready's pedigree and he is well worth a market check ahead of his first start, while other newcomers of note are Big Jake and San Giulio.

Greek Flower has been competing in higher grades and catches the eye off a mark of 66, however 1m could stretch her stamina. SHEREKIYA came home well when beaten a neck in third on just her second handicap start in the Curragh, and there should be more to come from the Camelot filly. Comfort Line is a veteran with 119 races to his name and landed that aforementioned Curragh contest, so should be well involved. Navajo Point made a breakthrough in Gowran Park and is another contender along with Bellewstown winner Wegotogether.

Birthday Angel posted a close-up second on his seasonal debut at Lingfield in June and a similar performance on the back of another break is likely to see him involved. That said, the combination of a 3lb higher mark and wide stall are grounds to take him on, with MINERALITY getting the vote. The three-year-old arrives on the back of a good third at Lingfield and the application of blinkers for the first time from a plum draw could prove just the ticket. Uzincso is a feasible alternative.

BINTARYANA relished a drop in class when scoring over C&D recently and she makes grand appeal in a similar contest. A 4lb rise from the assessor looks workable for William Knight's filly and she may be able to fend off chief threat Art Lover. The Hello Youmzain gelding arrives on the back of a solid fourth in an 18-runner sprint at Thirsk, although he still needs to prove as effective on Polytrack. Augustus Gloop is the pick of the remainder.

Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
