Palamon

(6) Palamon 4/1, Yet to get his head in front but has shaped as if there's a bigger performance in his locker, plugging on from rear when fourth at Sandown early last month. (8) Redcliff Glen 14/1, Fair form at best in a maiden and 2 novice events across the space of 11 months. Failed to improve when seventh of 13 in handicap at Kempton (8f) 18 days ago and he'll likely need more to get in the mix here.

Tribal Wisdom

16/1(+11%)
(3) Tribal Wisdom 16/1, Fairly useful form when runner-up on his first 3 starts (match race final occasion) last season but has lost his way since joining this yard, again posing no threat when seventh of 10 in handicap at this course (7f, soft, 100/1) 57 days ago.
Has not threatened in his three runs for new stable.

(2) Arch Moon 7/1, Ready winner on his second start of the year at Wetherby in May. Looked a bit short of pace when fifth of 7 in handicap (6/1) at Ayr (10f, good) 36 days ago though, so others are preferred.
Form dipped last time; more exposed than some of these rivals.
LTO Selection:

13:50 Doncaster Handicap (Class 5) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Ayyab could go well here on his first try at the trip after running on into second over a mile at Nottingham, though she does have to give 8lb to KNIGHTS AFFAIR, which looks a big ask. He is also stepping up in trip after the Bated Breath gelding was slowly away at Catterick before running on into fifth and makes his handicap debut now off a sensible mark of 67. Khangai is another to consider in first-time cheekpieces for the in-form Mark Rimell yard, and he might try to make every post a winning one.

AYYAB has shown progressive form in 4 starts to date and the step up in trip may unlock the biggest leap forward yet, so Sean Woods's filly is fancied to make a winning handicap debut. Richard P Smith was right back to his best at Kempton last time and merits respect, with Ala Kaifi and Khangai others to make the shortlist.

The verdict goes to AYYAB, who is heading in the right direction. Ala Kaifi is second choice.

Has to give away plenty of weight to most of these but looks certain to improve.
LTO Selection:

14:00 Listowel Conditions Hurdle 16f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

NURBURGRING travelled to Royal Ascot in June with a Flat rating of 96 and while no longer value for that mark, won on his recent hurdles debut. The Killarney runner-up had previously finished narrowly behind today's rival Spinning Web at Tipperary in July, but the selection should improve considerably jumping-wise from Killarney and, importantly, relishes soft ground. Spinning Web is rated just 48 on the flat but is progressive. He too has form on soft and ran well in a recent winners' hurdle but might struggle to beat the selection. Hands On is Enda Bolger's second ever three-year-old-hurdle runner and while likely to improve from this run, is by a top jumps stallion and is out of a Galileo-mare who has produced a six-time winner. Ex-Michael Stoute's Wodhooh, a 50,000gns July purchase, has form on the all-weather but was well held on her only soft-ground run and has a tough task on jumps debut.

NURBURGRING was pretty talented on the Flat and he overcame a few awkward jumps when making a winning start over hurdles at Killarney 3 weeks ago. With improvement likely, he's preferred to Spinning Web.

There should be plenty of improvement to come from NURBURGRING after winning at Killarney in spite of his jumping

(1) Indispensable 1.75/1, Got off the mark at Ripon in June and not disgraced when a close seventh of 9 to Miaharris in listed race at Newbury (5.2f, good) 30 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up.
Not at best last time but was close third in soft-ground Listed race in July; big player.
LTO Selection:

14:15 Musselburgh Stakes (Class 2) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

INDISPENSABLE could only muster a seventh-placed finish in a Listed event at Newbury last month, but better is expected in these calmer waters. A second success of the season could be on the cards for William Haggas' filly and she is preferred to Lady Pink Rose, who was two lengths behind her in eighth position in the aforementioned contest. Ziggy's Queen has something to find judged on the ratings, although not a massive amount.

None of the trio can be ruled out but the vote goes to LADY PINK ROSE who holds the edge on form and could take another step forward now the hood goes on having been too free at Newbury. Indispensable and Ziggy's Queen have the form to play a big part as well.

The most obvious answer is INDISPENSABLE, who performed well in Listed company this summer and won't mind if the ground turns soft.

(8) Reminder 6.5/1, Dubawi filly who impressed when gaining second career success at Windsor (6f) last month, leading over 1f out and well on top finish. Denied a run at a crucial stage when fifth at Ascot (6f) subsequently and she remains one to be positive about now upped to 7f.
Latest 6f effort suggests she's ready for a crack at 7f; still open to further improvement.

Makes turn/handicap debut in a warm-looking race however, so further progress required.
Solid promise on AW in the spring; this is harder but market support should be heeded.
LTO Selection:

14:25 Doncaster Handicap (Class 2) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Executive Decision is looking for her hat-trick after wins at Goodwood and Chepstow, but she has 4lb more from the handicapper now and is upped in class which may end her winning run. Poet Master looked as if a mile was too far when only eighth at Haydock and will look to bounce back to winning ways, but NINE TENTHS is the pick. Just the one start this year saw a comfortable success at Windsor in May and although this will be her handicap debut, as a daughter of Kodiac, both trip and going may bring improvement.

NINE TENTHS marked herself down as a useful prospect when scoring impressively on return to action at Windsor in May and with further progress anticipated now handicapping William Haggas' filly could be the answer in a competitive affair. Executive Decision, who scored in good style at Chepstow, and Reminder head the dangers, whilst Zouky rates a danger to all granted a good pace to aim at.

Several runners are similarly appealing. The narrow vote goes to ZOUKY, ahead of Nine Tenths.

14:35 Listowel Conditions Hurdle 20f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Softening ground won't suit the principal runners but SPACE TOURIST ran well on yielding in March 2022 and notably reverts left-handed. All her recent runs have been at right-handed tracks, when jumping markedly left, and while a 41 length-winner at Kilbeggan, blundered at the second-last at Galway last month and should be seen in a better light going left-handed. She stays this distance but heavy ground mightn't suit. Say Goodbye, runner-up in the 2021 renewal, is probably the most talented mare in the race but returns from 478 days off and would prefer a sound surface. In-form Light Parade is rated just 94 but is suited by this distance and soft ground and has place claims while 118-rated Popova has winning form on yielding but was well held on her return from a mini-break at Bellewstown.

SPACE TOURIST lost her unbeaten record over hurdles at Galway but she was let down by her jumping upped in grade and this looks a good opportunity for her to resume winning ways. Say Goodbye looks the main threat but she does have an absence to overcome.

Despite a 16 month absence, a chance is taken that SAY GOODBYE will be forward enough to score, back over hurdles after two chase wins

SACRED FALLS has got better with every run and the absence of Alexi Boy has made her bid for a breakthrough success far easier. Katie Scott's filly came within a neck of making a winning start to her handicap career at Hamilton and sets the standard on the figures. Canaria Queen is officially rated only 1lb inferior but arrives on the back of a moderate Carlisle display. Money for Eternal Sunshine on debut would be interesting.

SACRED FALLS is the pick on form and gets the nod with this drop to 5f likely to suit. Canaria Queen has the form to have a say too if back on her A-game, while Eternal Sunshine is an interesting newcomer.

After the recent rain the suggestion is CANARIA QUEEN, who posted a good performance on soft ground two starts ago.

15:00 Doncaster Stakes (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Mr Cuddihy shaped with promise on his handicap debut last month and could be on the premises with scope for further improvement. Always Fearless could be berthed well next to the former in stall 16 and must enter the reckoning following his recent Wolverhampton success, but preference is for I STILL HAVE FAITH. The three-year-old has been steadily progressive in handicaps this term and looks to hold every chance at the weights today. Others to note include Oh Herberts Reign and Dandy Maestro.

Not nearly so competitive as the numbers suggest and I STILL HAVE FAITH, who arrives in good order from handicaps, looks the way to go in his bid for a third success of 2023. C&D winner Oh Herberts Reign seems sure to be in the mix along with in-form duo Soames Forsyte and Always Fearless.

As a C&D winner on soft ground and heading here on the back of a positive performance last week, OH HERBERTS REIGN appeals most.

LTO Selection:

15:10 Listowel Handicap Hurdle 20f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

ATIMETODREAM ran well on handicap debut in May and reappears following a mid-summer break. She bumped into Grade 1 winner Irish Point last November, is suited by soft and being an unexposed, well-bred five-year-old, should progress. Rathnaleen Kal was third in that Limerick race and subsequently boosted the form but meets the selection 6lb worse off. Debut bumper winner Stormalong ran well when failing to concede 8lb to the winner at Sligo last month and debuts in handicaps. She likes soft and should compete from 105. Progressive Good As Hell reverts to hurdles rated 25lb lower and won from a career-high rating on soft ground at Killarney. However she was beaten from 1lb lower on her last hurdles outing in May. Sea Aster steps up from winning a Tramore unplaced horses' maiden while keen-going course winner Call Her Now disappointed at Tipperary. No Fussing's yard is flying and she has soft ground form while Phils Choice is a 12-race maiden but has form. All Walks Of Life, which runs in a first-time hood, was pulled up with a slipped saddle in May.

Plenty in with a chance but GOOD AS HELL has been an improved model over fences this summer so, from her very attractive hurdles mark, she could be the answer with the distinct possibility of more to come in this sphere. Atimetodream, Sea Aster and Emily In Paris head up the dangers.

Twice successful over fences since third in a handicap hurdle at Wexford in May, GOOD AS HELL may take advantage of this mark

LTO Selection:

15:25 Musselburgh Handicap (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

TILSITT hasn't been disgraced in class 4 company of late and the six-year-old holds leading claims on the ease in grade. Tulekya is best forgiven her sixth-placed finish when ducking right at Doncaster in June and may have been freshened up by a 91-day break. The daughter of Wootton Bassett is feared most, ahead of Bulls Aye, who ran one of his better races this season when filling the frame at Carlisle last time out.

VENETIAN hasn't been at his best lately but he's back on his last winning mark so could be worth chancing down in class. Tilsitt is another who's back down in grade so rates the main threat ahead of habitual slow-starter Bulls Aye.

He needs to better his recent efforts but VENETIAN will be too good for these if able to recapture the form he showed in early June.

15:35 Doncaster Group 3 (Class 1) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Last year's 1000 Guineas heroine CACHET makes her first start of the season and sets a very high standard with a rating of 113, which puts her 6lb clear of her nearest rival. The daughter of Aclaim should prove too good for these if she is ready to go on her return, before a possible tilt at the Sun Chariot. Magical Sunset surprised a few at Goodwood with her victory and should also go well again, while Nigiri is improving at a rate of knots and is well worth her place in the line-up.

Last year's 1000 Guineas winner CACHET will prove hard to beat if ready to go after 15 months off. Highly progressive 3-y-o Nigiri shouldn't be underestimated up in grade.

Cachet is respected despite her lengthy absence but a good alternative is VETIVER (nap). Dandy Alys is also shortlisted.

15:45 Listowel Maiden Hurdle 24f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

SILVER GAZETTE returned to form following a layoff, last month. Runner-up to subsequent Grade 2-winner Favori De Champdou in November 2022, he bumped into a capable winner on debut for Andy Slattery at Tramore, while the third-placed horse won next-time. He is suited by soft ground, this distance and his rider claims 5lb. Workforadime finished 12.5 lengths behind today's rival Misty's Gift in May and while Workforadime caught the eye at Wexford recently, might still struggle to beat the selection. Misty's Gift didn't take to fences at Ballinrobe last month and while a dual bumper winner, has failed in 13 previous maiden hurdles. Atacanter ran well at Leopardstown last March, stays well and has place claims on return. Signora De Milano reverts back up in distance while True Or False has some point-to-point/hunter chase form.

MISTY'S GIFT made an inauspicious start over fences when pulled up at Ballinrobe but is fancied to bounce back in style now quickly returned to this sphere and gain a deserved first success. Silver Gazette made an encouraging start for his new yard when runner-up at Tramore and is next on the list ahead of the lightly-raced pair Ollie La Ba Ba and Signora Di Milano.

Preference is for SILVER GAZETTE(nap who ran a cracker at Tramore on stable debut and should come on for that with trip not an issue

PRINCESS KARINE has yet to run a bad race this year and she continued her good form when runner-up in a class 3 event over C&D. The four-year-old was kindly dropped 1lb for that display and she could prove hard to beat. Rock Melody is a previous C&D winner and will find this more to her liking than the competitive handicaps she has contested at York and Ascot the last twice. Ramon Di Loria can beat Water Of Leith home for third as he is now 1lb lower than his last winning mark.

The return to 5f is sure to suit ROCK MELODY and with this representing a big drop in class she looks the way to go. The minimum trip is also Khabib's optimum distance and he's a threat, along with Water of Leith.

Princess Karine might not face much competition up front but ROCK MELODY (nap) is taken to sweep past her in the closing stages.

A good servant to connections but below best last time and tough task at the weights.
LTO Selection:

16:10 Doncaster Listed (Class 1) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

ROGUE LIGHTNING struck in the Shergar Cup Dash at Ascot last time to show he is a sprinter going places, as he is unbeaten in two starts since his gelding operation in May. The son of Kodiac could continue his rise in the ranks to add a Listed win to his tally before going onto better things. The main danger is Raasel, who did it well at Haydock to score by just under a length and he is more than capable at this level. Silky Wilkie makes more appeal than Fine Wine in the battle for third.

RAASEL won at a higher level than this last season and following a low-key start to 2023 he was just about better than ever at Haydock last week. He's the one to beat on these terms, though the 3-y-o Rogue Lightning is on a steep upward curve and has to command respect.

Raasel won't be easy to beat but SILKY WILKIE looks a worthy opponent and may enjoy a tactical advantage.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

A case can be made for all five participants. RIAAN impressed on his debut over fences at Wexford and might be able to follow-up now. While that Bettyville contest probably wasn't a strong affair, the Diamond Boy six-year-old couldn't have done much more, with his rider Jack Kennedy later saying: "He jumped brilliant and I couldn't have asked for better of him really. He is going to come on for it fitness wise and I'm delighted with him." While not the most consistent, Uncle Phil is given second preference. He impressively dismissed Winter Fog on his penultimate start and a reproduction of that performance would see him hard to beat. Gracchus De Balme is sure to have plenty of supporters after winning at Roscommon last month, while The Dasher Conway and Great Bear complete the line-up, with both warranting respect.

GREAT BEAR looked a natural when runner-up on his chase bow at Killarney and can go one better in receipt of weight. Riaan made an impressive winning start over fences at Wexford and is the obvious threat in a race in which none of the 5 can be ruled out.

Only five runners but none of them could be ruled out. Having jumped reassuringly well at Roscommon GRACCHUS DE BALME may follow up

LTO Selection:

16:35 Musselburgh Handicap (Class 6) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

BLUE ANTARES only failed by half a length at Ripon last time and he is in great heart at present, as he has hit the frame on each of his last three outings. The son of Frankel can continue his fine form to take this and the main threat could be Spanish Hustle, who put in a pleasing display to finish fourth at Carlisle over 1m3f and he ought to go close off the same rating. Smart Lass couldn't justify favouritism last time, but she could easily bounce back and warrants respect.

BLUE ANTARES is going through a good spell and might be able to eke out a bit more improvement to resume winning ways at the likely expense of Spanish Hustle, who wasn't ideally suited by the way things panned out at Carlisle recently. Smart Lass is another one to consider.

The vote goes to course specialist SMART LASS who wasn't seen to best effect at Ayr last time and can capitalise on a reduced mark.

LTO Selection:

16:45 Doncaster Handicap (Class 4) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Frankel gelding State Of Desire ought to prove better than an opening mark of 78, but, though respected, a chance is taken on MONSIEUR MELEE. Jedd O'Keefee's charge did well to finish third at Musselburgh having been slowly away in leaving the stalls, before losing a shoe in the run. Back over a mile and on nursery debut, it would be no surprise to see him improve. Brocklesby winner Doddie's Impact has yet to add to that success, but the return here and a falling mark should aid his cause.

CHARMING WHISPER has laid an excellent foundation for nurseries, and given his dam stayed well, 1m should be well within range. He's awarded the vote in a tightly-knit nursery, with Monsieur Melee and Swift Salian feared most.

A chance is taken that STATE OF DESIRE can take a step forward on his nursery debut having been gelded. Monsieur Melee is next best.

16:55 Listowel Conditions Chase 20f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

An interesting contest, with EASY GAME marginally preferred over Saint Sam and Visionarian. The selection has an excellent record at Listowel and is bidding to win this race for the third year in-a-row. A superb servant to connections, it's difficult to oppose the 17-time winner, despite the fact that Paul Townend has. To be fair, the champion jockey had a difficult task choosing between the Willie Mullins-trained pair, with just 1lb between them on ratings. While flawless in three starts over the summer months, Saint Sam faces a tougher assignment now. A solid fifth in the Galway Plate, Visionarian since impressed at Ballinrobe and getting weight from the aforementioned duo, it'll come as no surprise if he manages to take this. Dancing On My Own completes the line-up and while a smart performer, he was beaten by Easy Game when they clashed here in June.

Willie Mullins has a strong grip on this event and SAINT SAM is an obvious choice to complete a four-timer at the likely expense of his stablemate Easy Game, who should be able to put a blip at the Galway Festival behind him. Visionarian is also a player.

This can go to the exuberant SAINT SAM who galloped his rivals into the ground at Killarney and more especially over 2m6f at Galway

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

It's Good To Laugh was beaten less than a length at Chester last time out and he can go well off the same mark, but YORKINDNESS might have his measure on this occasion. The four-year-old strolled home when making all at York to win by eight lengths last Sunday and a 5lb penalty may not stop him following up under Joe Fanning. Coltor looks best of the rest in this small field and could pick up some prize money.

IT'S GOOD TO LAUGH has been runner-up the last twice and, with a couple of front-runners liable to take each other on, he might find this panning out ideally, so he's preferred to last-time-out winners Baez and Yorkindness.

Jim Goldie's filly BAEZ is thriving and the one to beat under a 5lb penalty for her Chester win two days ago.

LTO Selection:

17:20 Doncaster Handicap (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

J R CAVAGIN returned to form with a creditable second at Beverley three weeks ago. Paul Midgley's sprinter lifted this prize from a 5lb higher mark 12 months ago, and he appears to be nearing boiling point in a bid to repeat the dose. The Dunkirk Lads was narrowly denied at Carlisle last time and a similar performance ought to see him on the premises. Others to note include Bella Kopella and Slingsbytoo.

J R CAVAGIN is back in form and, having won over C&D around the same time last year, he's worth taking a chance on. Thornaby Pearl shaped well last time and is considered a threat, while Bella Kopella is likely to give her running again.

Catch Cunningham is a danger to all down in class but THORNABY PEARL can benefit from today's return to slower ground.

NEVER PRESENT gets the nod over Glowing Account. The John McConnell-trained selection was still in front when coming down two out on debut at Grennan in May. Since sold to current connections for 30,000 pounds, he should give a good account of himself here with Alex Harvey aboard. At the age of six, Glowing Account belatedly makes his debut and won't have to be a star to take this contest which lacks strength and depth. Typhoon Flyer is a half-brother to 2021 King George winner Tornado Flyer. Still very much in contention when falling two out on his penultimate start at Ballinaboola, it'll be interesting to see how he fares on his racecourse debut. A runner-up at Roscommon over a year ago, Locorotondo warrants respect with Derek O'Connor aboard, while Answering and Huntsgrove are others for the shortlist.

GLOWING ACCOUNT has the speed to be well equipped for this sort of test and his top yard should have him well readied for his debut, so he take preference over Never Present, who showed ability prior to falling in a point. Locorotondo is the pick of the others but he has a long absence to overcome.

The opposition to the Willie Mullins-trained newcomer GLOWING ACCOUNT looks far from intimidating.

LTO Selection:

17:45 Musselburgh Handicap (Class 6) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Spartakos won this race in 2021 for trainer Katie Scott and the five-year-old is back for more off 3lb higher after a fifth-placed finish at Catterick last month. He could go well, but if INDIAN OUTLAW takes to first-time blinkers, then she would have every chance judged on her better form. Kalama Sunrise could surprise a few and is bred for this trip, despite racing over further without success on her first three starts.

Plenty of these hold few secrets and it could just pay to take a chance on a handicap debutante in the shape of KALAMA SUNRISE. Ultimately well beaten all 3 starts in novice company, she should find this sort of assignment much more suitable from a low opening mark and it would come as no surprise to see her do better. Spartakos and Doomsday head the dangers, with Turbo Command another not out of things.

Lightly raced AMERRONE showed some promise as a juvenile and could take advantage of a basement mark now he's going handicapping.
