LTO Selection:

12:30 Galway Maiden 8f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Aidan O'Brien introduces well-bred newcomers Iseult Of Ireland and Rubies Are Red, but his other runner EVERLASTING has a recent run under her belt, which will stand to her on the testing ground. The daughter of Kingman wasn't that far off the placed horse when mid-division at the Curragh, and stepping up in trip may suit the half-sister to the yard's smart middle-distance colt Adelaide River. The 92-rated Settlement sets a good standard and was just touched off over a mile at Cork before contesting a Group 3 at the Curragh. Kisiyra showed a lot more on her second start when third on heavy ground at Gowran, while Colin Keane is an interesting booking for Lope De Lilas, whose dam is a sister to dual French Classic winner Golden Lilac.

SETTLEMENT seemed to find Group 3 company too hot on her latest outing but she'd previously highlighted she's a banker for a race of this type when narrowly denied at Cork in September and she can make a bold bid. Impeccably-bred newcomer Rubies Are Red and likely-improver Everlasting head up the dangers.

Down in class and up in trip after contesting a 7f Group 3 race at the Curragh, SETTLEMENT (nap) has good overall credentials for this

1st (4) Kankin (11/4 +8%)
Kankin

11/4(+8%)
(4) Kankin 11/4, Showed plenty of ability both starts in bumpers and looked on a fair opening mark when third on handicap hurdle debut at Warwick (19f) back in May. Goes chasing now back from 6 months off and the betting may well prove a useful guide.
Placed in only handicap over hurdles and entitled to make his presence felt.
2
2nd (5) Foxey (10/3 -11%)
Foxey

10/3(-11%)
(5) Foxey 10/3, Flat-bred gelding who made it eighth time lucky over hurdles when landing 7-runner Newton Abbot handicap (18.5f) 4 weeks ago, making all. Fact he arrives in good heart a plus now chasing so one to consider.
Won selling handicap hurdle last time; not bred for fences but hard to discount.
3
3rd (2) Star Flyer (5/1 +17%)
Star Flyer

5/1(+17%)
(2) Star Flyer 5/1, Reached the frame in 2 bumpers and fair form at best over hurdles, best effort when third on qualifying run at Newcastle (20.3f) in January. Mixed bag in trio of starts thereafter but certainly not one to dismiss out of hand now chasing on return to action.
Best hurdle form was in novices; bred to raise his game over fences.
4
4th (1) Jacks Touch (8/1 +56%)
Jacks Touch

8/1(+56%)
(1) Jacks Touch 8/1, Displayed a fair level of form on 2 of his 3 starts in maiden hurdles but failed to improve for switch to handicaps during the spring, losing touch some way out when ninth of 14 over 21f at Warwick in May. Betting may prove the best guide now chasing.
Hurdling promise; low mileage for an 8yo and she's bred to make a chaser.
5th
5th (6) Calvic (13/2 +0%)
Calvic

13/2(+0%)
(6) Calvic 13/2, Point winner who reached the frame in maiden/novice hurdles around 2m this summer. His 19.5f Bangor handicap debut last month was disappointing, though. Chase debut.
Retains potential after just three hurdles runs and there are chasers in the family.

Out The Glen

6/1(-71%)
(3) Out The Glen 6/1, Three-time winner in 2021-22 who quickly dispelled a lesser effort returned to positive tactics when second of 8 in a C&D handicap back in May. Cheekpieces worn then again reached for here and his chase experience edge/good record here should count for plenty.
Just missed out in first-time cheekpieces over C&D on final appearance in May.
|PU|
|PU| (7) Heritier De Sivola (10/1 +9%)
Heritier De Sivola

10/1(+9%)
(7) Heritier De Sivola 10/1, Maiden Irish pointer who showed improved form when making all in a novice handicap hurdle at Kelso (22.5f) in December. Surpassed that form in defeat next 2 starts and likely he'll strip fitter for his reappearance effort over hurdles at Carlisle 11 days ago. Chase debut.
Respected on best hurdle form but has been off colour the last twice.
LTO Selection:

12:40 Huntingdon Handicap Chase (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Runner-up over C&D last time out and a winner here twice before, OUT THE GLEN must hold every chance if building upon that effort. The son of Millenary is now back down to his last winning mark and he should have too much for easy Newton Abbot scorer Foxey, as well as Kankin, who has been placed on five of his six career starts.

The betting promises to prove informative with six of the seven making their chase debuts but KANKIN boasted a steadily progressive profile for one at this level over hurdles and he could just be worth chancing to come out on top without the benefit of market clues. The Olly Murphy trained pair Foxey and Out The Glen head up the dangers, with Star Flyer another to keep an eye on.

Only Out The Glen has chasing experience. KANKIN was placed in his only handicap over hurdles and he edges preference.

17:25 Newcastle Stakes (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Hugo Palmer may have found a suitable opportunity for CHESHIRE DANCER to win for a second time after she followed her Beverley success with a neck second at Wolverhampton. This looks a slightly easier contest on paper and she may get the better of Rich Harry, who was second over this trip at Kempton, but beaten over five lengths, suggesting he has a bit to do now to bother the selection. Northgate is of interest for owner and trainer Antony Brittain and he might go well despite his lack of experience.

This probably rests between RICH HARRY and Cheshire Dancer, with preference for the former who brings particularly solid form credentials to the table. Newcomer King's School makes some appeal on paper and he needs a close look in the betting.

7.5f winner CHESHIRE DANCER steps back up in trip and may be capable of pulling out more, so gets the vote.

LTO Selection:

18:00 Newcastle Handicap (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

ARIZONA DESERT has improved considerably since joining the Dominic French Davis stable and stepping up to a mile can eke out further improvement as she looks to follow up on a determined 7f success off 4lb lower at Leicester last time out. Runner-up on each of her last two starts, including over C&D earlier in the month, Amasar is a leading contender, along with Amayretto, who is looking to bounce back to the form that saw her win comfortably at Redcar on her penultimate outing.

AMAYRETTO arrives at the top of her game and wasn't seen to best effect when third at Nottingham last time so is fancied to quickly resume winning ways. Leicester-scorer Arizona Desert is next on the list ahead of handiap-debutantes Amasar and Run For The Sun.

The vote goes to ARIZONA DESERT who battled well when justifying support at Leicester and is open to more progress at this new trip.

LTO Selection:

18:30 Newcastle Handicap (Class 4) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

This can go the way of CURIOUS ROVER, who has been extremely consistent since beginning his career in August, and Katie Scott's charge can make it three win in his last five starts. A comfortable winner at Beverley on her penultimate outing, Rare Jewel is a key player, along with Due For Luck, who has almost seven lengths to find with the selection from their clash at Haydock last month but was progressive previous to that effort.

A case can be made for a few of these but HAVANA ROSE rates the pick of the weights on the back of her excellent Pontefract second so edges the vote from Rare Jewel who could have more to offer now going into handicaps for the first time. Curious Rover appeals as the best of the rest for place purposes.

Prior to his inexplicable latest effort DUE FOR LUCK was on the up and he is taken to get back on track.

LTO Selection:

19:00 Newcastle Handicap (Class 6) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

A comfortable winner over track and trip in May, SPIRIT OF BOWLAND wasn't beaten far here last time out and he is taken to go in again off what remains a workable mark. He can uphold that form with Eleven Eleven (fourth), as well as seeing off the attentions of recent C&D winner Ice Shadow. Completing the shortlist are Girl From Italy, Pop Favorite and Zafaan.

SPIRIT OF BOWLAND completed a hat-trick on AW earlier this year and signalled a return to form when third over C&D last time. He can get back on the scoreboard. Ice Shadow and Pop Favorite should also go well.

The manner of ICE SHADOW's C&D success suggests that he can find what's necessary to successfully defy a 3lb rise and follow up.

However, preference is for BASHOLO, who hasn't been beaten far in this grade on each of her last three starts and she could be ready to be rewarded for her consistency after her most recent third at Wolverhampton. Fighting Chance finished a close-up third over C&D last time and is another to consider.

BERNIE THE BEAR did too much too soon from a poor position here 3 weeks ago and remains in form so he could be the answer to this low-grade contest. Mumcat ended a long losing run in a similar C&D event last time and can go well again. The Gay Blade is another to consider.

The bang-in-form topweight MUMCAT (nap) can follow up her recent C&D win. The 3yo Bernie The Bear is feared most.

20:00 Newcastle Handicap (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

BLAZING HOT made a highly-encouraging start to life in the care of Michael Herrington, as he was denied by just a short head at Pontefract and he has only been put up 1lb for that effort. The son of Hot Streak is a C&D winner and it would be no surprise to see him get his head back in front with Tom Eaves taking over in the plate. Lady Celia is the obvious danger after her victory over C&D last time and she should be thereabouts once more off a 4lb higher rating. Phoenix Star also has to be respected after his double over C&D last month.

LADY CELIA looked good value for her win here a fortnight ago and can follow up after a 4 lb rise. Blazing Hot and 8-time C&D winner Another Angel are among the dangers.

Three-time C&D winner BLAZING HOT was cruelly reeled in on last month's stable debut at Pontefract and is taken to go one better today.
