5/6(+52%) | (7) Manoir De Mirande 5/6, Stable has won two of the last nine runnings; made a very promising debut when winning a juvenile bumper over 12f at Moulins by 2 1/2l; could be a contender on hurdle debut. Joined connections following debut French bumper success; tongue-tie now left off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (11/4 -38%)Ole Ole |
11/4(-38%) | (10) Ole Ole 11/4, Improved for debut experience when second, beaten a length, in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown last time; effective at 2m and handles soft ground; ex-French and now with a top yard, likely to progress further. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (16/1 -60%)Glen To Glen |
16/1(-60%) | (5) Glen To Glen 16/1, Stable has won the last two runnings; ran to form when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown latest; trainer in form; effective at 2m and acts on any going; ran well at Royal Ascot and could get involved in this weak race. Curragh m'den winner has 22l to find with Ole Ole based on latest run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (22/1 +33%)Minella Boss |
22/1(+33%) | (9) Minella Boss 22/1, Outpaced but finished strongly when making a promising debut, well beaten in a 2m maiden hurdle at Navan latest; wears a hood for the first time; effective at 2m and suited by testing ground; looks a strong stayer with more to come over hurdles. Rated 65 on Flat; finished 21l behind on stable debut over hurdles latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (28/1 -75%)Dawn Coming |
28/1(-75%) | (3) Dawn Coming 28/1, Ran to form when beaten 10l in a 9f maiden at Leopardstown last time; showed some promise on flat; market can guide on hurdle debut. Third in modest Curragh m'den and below that in 3 runs since; stable/hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (33/1 -83%)Far Eclipse |
33/1(-83%) | (4) Far Eclipse 33/1, Had every chance but ran below form when down the field in a 1m6f handicap at The Curragh most recently; was in good form before that; returns from a short break and is hard to recommend. Flat maiden makes hurdling debut and yard's other runners bring more pressing claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(11) (50/1 -150%)Ray Gun |
50/1(-150%) | (11) Ray Gun 50/1, Outpaced and below form when fourth, beaten 6 1/4l, in an 11f handicap at Windsor last time; 12f flat winner in UK; may just need this on hurdle debut. One win from 11 Flat starts; makes yard debut now but others more appealing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

66/1(+18%) | (8) Mcloughlin 66/1, Ran to form when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown most recently; effective at 2m and suited by cut; could improve if ridden more positively. Rated 80 on level but made little impact in opening two hurdle runs; hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (250/1 -100%)Ahellofaman |
250/1(-100%) | (1) Ahellofaman 250/1, Comfortably held when outclassed in a juvenile hurdle over 2m at Punchestown last time; best watched for now over hurdles. Hasn't been a factor in a bumper and two hurdle runs and probably safe to rule him out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (300/1 -275%)Dahoma |
300/1(-275%) | (2) Dahoma 300/1, Improved without threatening when finishing down the field in a 2m maiden hurdle at Navan most recently; should stay 2m and looks one for low-grade handicap hurdles. 0-5 in Flat runs and well beaten in opening hurdle efforts; unlikely. |

OLE OLE has shown promise in two runs to date. Placed third in a Clairefontainte hurdle last July, that form was boosted by the winner subsequently finishing second at Grade 2 level. The selection again ran well at Punchestown and he is suited by testing ground. Manoir De Mirande scored on debut in an AQPS bumper last April and has to enter calculations on his first start for Gordon Elliott. Flat-bred Kizlyar landed a Compiegne maiden in June and completes the shortlist.

Both Ole Ole and Manoir De Mirande are feared but Kizlyar shades it, given his French placed form on soft and win last time

Disappointing on soft at Cheltenham last time but leading claims on previous second there. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

2/1(+50%) | (3) Camberwell 2/1, Below par when upped in grade and well beaten in a bumper at Fairyhouse last time; needs to find plenty of improvement. Won Carlisle bumper then tailed off at Fairyhouse; retains potential now tackling hurdles. |

7/2(+65%) | (8) Sanilam 7/2, Yard won this last year; modest debut when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle here; had been in good form prior; effective at 2m on soft ground and should make a fair hurdler who may want further in time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (11/1 -267%)Bohemond Antioch |
11/1(-267%) | (2) Bohemond Antioch 11/1, Raced freely but improved after a break and wind operation when second, beaten 2l, in a 2m1f novice hurdle at Bangor-on-Dee; second run since surgery; suited by 2m on soft or good ground; going the right way. 20/1(+50%) | (9) Suspected 20/1, Pulled up in a 2m4f novice hurdle at Carlisle last time; effective at 2m on good ground; bumper win looks weak and needs to show more. Won his sole bumper start but pulled up at 40-1 on last month's hurdle/stable debut. |

66/1(0%) | (5) Ivan's Legacy 66/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 22l, in a bumper at Hexham last time; difficult to fancy on that effort. Didn't show enough in bumpers to be of interest on this hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (150/1 -275%)Plane Sailing |
150/1(-275%) | (7) Plane Sailing 150/1, Found nothing and ran poorly on debut when well beaten in a bumper at Hexham; has it all to do. Well backed on debut in Hexham bumper in April but was tailed off. |

(6) (250/1 -67%)King Horse |
250/1(-67%) | (6) King Horse 250/1, Outpaced and ran to form when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Musselburgh; showed little in points and has plenty to prove. Failed to threaten in his three Irish points and same story on his first two hurdle starts. |

GREAT FLEET shaped with encouragement on his first two hurdle outings when chasing home Conman John here and at Cheltenham over further. Dan Skelton's gelding subsequently ran flat when returning to the latter venue in Grade 2 company and the application of a tongue tie may aid his cause, especially with his sights being lowered. Bohemond Antioch could settle better with his return at Bangor under his belt, while Carlisle bumper winner Camberwell can take a step back in the right direction on hurdling debut.

Great Fleet was disappointing on soft ground last time and it may pay to take him on with bumper winner CAMBERWELL.

From a good yard but with form knocks, opening mark asks for more. Slight promise in maidens but entitled to respect given yard and rider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (16/1 -45%)Jukebox Johnny |
16/1(-45%) | (8) Jukebox Johnny 16/1, Made mistakes and was outpaced, never threatening when down the field in a 2m maiden hurdle here last time. RIVER VALE has recent form and might be suited by reverting back to this distance, having finished third in a similar race last month. Lightly raced, the selection's best form is admittedly on a sound surface but he ran well on heavy at Fairyhouse last month, when caught in the closing stages. Veteran Halsafari, out of top mare Solerina, defeated a nicely-in winner here last month and can be competitive off 6lb higher. Capable chaser Happy Dreams scored easily over hurdles last month and is respected.

Lightly-raced 5yo BETWEEN FRIENDS is very interesting upped in trip for her handicap debut, and she is the pick if the market speaks

9/2(+44%) | (2) Ilitch 9/2, Ran to form up in trip when fourth, beaten 6l, in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f at Uttoxeter last time, needing the run. Effective from 2m to 2½m and acts on good to soft or good ground. Progressive and likely to stay a bit further in time. Good fourth at Uttoxeter (upped to 2m4f) in October, weakening but after seven months off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (9/1 -29%)Tigga Time |
9/1(-29%) | (7) Tigga Time 9/1, Ran to form when landing a handicap by a length off 99 here last time. Effective at 2½m and acts on soft and good ground. In form and should remain competitive. C&D winner (good; probably okay on soft) under Jamie Gambin on second start for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (11/1 -10%)Walden |
11/1(-10%) | (1) Walden 11/1, Travelled well and did it readily when winning a maiden hurdle at Market Rasen by 3l last time, having benefited from the step up in trip. Effective at 2½m and acts on good ground. Unexposed in handicaps and at this trip; latest form franked and a threat if fit. Pretty impressive maiden win at Market Rasen (good) in April when upped to extended 2m5f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (16/1 -45%)Mistral Blue |
16/1(-45%) | (10) Mistral Blue 16/1, Did too much back from a break but still ran to form when beaten a length off 97 here last time. Effective at 2½m and acts on good ground. In form and could improve for that latest outing. Excellent 2nd to Tigga Time over C&D; much more to prove if the ground is softer than good. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (16/1 -100%)Bitsnbuckles |
16/1(-100%) | (4) Bitsnbuckles 16/1, Yard won this last year. Flattened out after a break following a series of errors when fourth, beaten 22l, in a Market Rasen handicap hurdle last time. Wears a tongue-tie for the first time. Effective at 2½m; inconsistent but should improve for that run. 1-9 over hurdles and opposable on most form, but the one win came on his only race here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (18/1 -125%)The Secret Pearl |
18/1(-125%) | (5) The Secret Pearl 18/1, Ran to form but flattened out when stepped up in trip on return from a break, having raced freely, beaten 4l off 103 at Plumpton last time. Effective between 2m and 2½m and acts on good ground. In good form. Off 172 days before second of five at Plumpton (2m4f) latest; needs to find a bit extra. |

A 4lb rise for Tigga Time's latest triumph over C&D looks workable and he's fancied to confirm his superiority with reopposing second Mistral Blue. However, THE SECRET PEARL returned with a respectable second at Plumpton last month and any improvement could make her the one to beat. Bitsnbuckles is also entitled to build on his seasonal debut, while Walden is having just his second start in handicap company.

Plenty have possibilities but DEARKEITHANDKATY is preferred with the likelihood of soft ground. Walden is feared most.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (6/1 +29%)Malicash |
6/1(+29%) | (1) Malicash 6/1, Needed the run when second, beaten 27l in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f at Bangor-on-Dee last time. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m and should come on for that effort. Bumped into handicap blot at Bangor on reappearance; unexposed and open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (15/2 -15%)Fox's Fancy |
15/2(-15%) | (5) Fox's Fancy 15/2, Jumped abysmally, outpaced, and left too much to do when fourth, beaten 18l in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Ayr last time. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m and should be capable of winning soon. She can be competitive if hurdling better today, but that's the big question. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Pulled up last time but top trainer applies a tongue-tie; could bounce back with big run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (16/1 -100%)Follow Charlie |
16/1(-100%) | (8) Follow Charlie 16/1, Did it cosily and showed further improvement when landing a 2m4f handicap at Ayr by 3 1/4l off 103 last time. Effective around 2 1/2m and acts on any ground, though a higher mark now demands more. Came clear with even-money favourite to win at Ayr and this 6yo is respected up 7lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (20/1 +0%)Rememberthename |
20/1(+0%) | (9) Rememberthename 20/1, Travelled well and flattened out up the hill when third, beaten 10l in a handicap hurdle here on stable debut. (7) (22/1 -10%)Coconut Splash |

(10) (25/1 +24%)Nights In Venice |
25/1(+24%) | (10) Nights In Venice 25/1, No obvious excuse when well beaten in a 2m5f handicap chase at Ayr last time. Fair mark on best recent form in that sphere so not dismissed. Poor 1-23 strike-rate but often placed and he's not ruled out each-way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (28/1 +30%)Gaillimh A Stor |
28/1(+30%) | (2) Gaillimh A Stor 28/1, Needed the run when down the field in a 2m5f handicap hurdle here last time. Effective at 3m, acts on soft, though form appears to be regressing. Third in this 12 months ago but there was no return to form on last month's reappearance. |

Authorized Mission was particularly strong in the market when running out an easy winner here on his return last month and another bold bid is expected, despite a 14lb rise. That said, preference goes to GLEN ROAD. The six-year-old stepped forward from a decent return at Wetherby when scoring back at the same venue over a longer trip and further improvement appears to be likely. Malicash and Follow Charlie complete the shortlist.

Course winner MALICASH bumped into one at Bangor on his reappearance and is taken to go one better on this second handicap start.

DANI DONADONI might get off the mark on jumps debut if coping with softer ground than what he has previously encountered. A seven-length winner on debut, he finished fourth in a smart race at the Punchestown Festival in May. That race's runner-up was subsequently sold for 410,000 pounds, while the recent Royal Bond winner Koktail Brut was behind him in fifth. Lord Rouge has form on heavy ground, having run well in a Punchestown point-to-point in February. A half-brother to Grade 3 winner Gin On Lime, he has joined top connections and could be smart. The selection's stablemate Mahon Falls has reasonable recent form.

Bumper winner DANI DONADONI took fourth spot in a good quality Punchestown bumper when last seen and he gets the vote

(2) (9/2 -80%)Coastal Command |
9/2(-80%) | (2) Coastal Command 9/2, Green but promising debut, needed the run when 14l third in a novice hurdle over 2m4f at Uttoxeter last time. 7/1(+30%) | (8) The Hawkstonian 7/1, Needed the run but shaped well for a time on debut, finishing 11l third in a novice hurdle over 2m4f at Sedgefield last time. Effective at 2 1/2m and should benefit from that experience. 11l third of five at Sedgefield (2m4f, good) on hurdle debut, form which has been boosted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (8/1 -129%)Tom Desjy |

Effective from 2–2 1/4m and suited by soft conditions; generally consistent in France and could build on stable debut for a yard that does well with similar types. Third of four at Leicester (1m7f, soft) was creditable return from year off on yard debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (25/1 +50%)Bel Ombre |
25/1(+50%) | (1) Bel Ombre 25/1, Keen, improved from debut when finishing down the field in a novice hurdle over 2m at Chepstow most recently. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(12) (200/1 -700%)One Cool Mix |
200/1(-700%) | (12) One Cool Mix 200/1, Carlotamix mare and half-sister to Allavina, who was very useful over 16f. Faces a tough enough task on debut. Possibilities on pedigree; on debut, though, perhaps best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (400/1 -300%)Everlasting Pearl |
400/1(-300%) | (10) Everlasting Pearl 400/1, Poor run when down the field in a bumper over 2m at Warwick most recently. Faces a tough assignment. Achieved little in spring bumpers at Hereford and Warwick. |

Having landed a point-to-point, Rules debutant Lisnamurrican must be monitored in the betting representing the Nicky Henderson yard, but stablemate COASTAL COMMAND sets the standard. The son of Scorpion posted a promising third on his hurdles bow at Uttoxeter 37 days ago and he could be the way to go. Maccarellu will need to improve on his latest third at Leicester, but that's entirely possible with Venetia Williams starting to hit some form.

Coastal Command may prove best of those with hurdles form but hurdles newcomer DRACO MALFOY, from an in-form yard, may scupper him.

Effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on soft and good to soft ground. Highly tried in bumpers and that form was franked, so could defy a penalty. Won on hurdle debut; 7lb penalty today but can be optimism she has more left in the tank. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (6/5 +31%)Biglesisback |
6/5(+31%) | (3) Biglesisback 6/5, Ran to form when second, beaten 2 1/2l, in a novice hurdle over 2m at Hexham last time. Effective between 2m and 2m4f, and has shown enough ability to win a maiden. In the first three on both hurdle runs; has an attractive pedigree and she's a key player. |

25/1(-233%) | (7) Zhanma Enki 25/1, Modest debut effort when doing too much early and finishing down the field in a maiden hurdle over 2m at Navan last time. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (28/1 +65%)Bennys Jenny |
28/1(+65%) | (2) Bennys Jenny 28/1, Below form when well beaten in a maiden hurdle over 2m at Ayr last time. Won a point but well beaten at big odds on both runs for Stuart Coltherd; stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (150/1 -50%)Tiggerelli |
150/1(-50%) | (6) Tiggerelli 150/1, Outpaced and modest on debut when comfortably held in a novice hurdle over 2m here last time. The longer trip should help but she has plenty to find. Down the field in three bumpers and same outcome on last month's hurdle/stable debut here. |

La Zoubida carries a 7lb penalty for her victory at Sedgefield on her hurdling bow but Nicky Richards' mare may prove vulnerable. With that in mind, the vote goes to BIGLESISBACK following a pair of solid efforts over hurdles at Perth and Hexham. Zhanma Enki showed up well for a long way on her first attempt over timber at Navan and should find this an easier assignment.

Bumper winner LA ZOUBIDA made a good start to her hurdling career with a win at Sedgefield last month and is taken to defy a penalty.

Out of a half-sister to Champion Hurdle winner Binocular, the selection defeated many subsequent winners when scoring at Thurles last season. He disappointed at Aintree subsequently and was short of room when exiting at the opening flight on his recent jumps debut at Thurles, but was well supported on that occasion and remains promising. Lumiere Du Large was outclassed in both the Triumph Hurdle and at Punchestown last spring and while she had previously shown ability in France, looks vulnerable to smart performers and wears a hood. Splendid Fellow has fair form.

This represents a massive drop in class for LUMIERE DU LARGE following her experiences against top juvenile opposition.

(3) (11/4 0%)Don't Mind If I Do |
11/4(0%) | (3) Don't Mind If I Do 11/4, Stable has won two of the last five renewals; finished 11l third in a handicap hurdle over 2m1f at Aintree last time; effective at 2m and handles heavy and good to soft ground; progressive type who should improve from that run. With a run (too free) under his belt, he could still have plenty of untapped potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (10/3 +52%)Clap Of Thunder |
10/3(+52%) | (4) Clap Of Thunder 10/3, Showed a good attitude and ran to form when 12l third in a novice hurdle at Musselburgh last time; returns from a long layoff; effective at 2m and handles heavy and good ground; consistent performer and a threat if fit. Reappears following wind surgery four weeks ago; market support would be interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (9/2 +18%)Haas Boy |
9/2(+18%) | (8) Haas Boy 9/2, Travelled well and idled when building on a recent return to form to win a handicap by 1l off 105 over 2m1f at Exeter last time; effective from 2m to 2½m and handles soft and good ground; remains well treated on old form and seems more genuine now. 2-2 for new yard; good chance that his revival will continue by completing the hat-trick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (8/1 -14%)We're Red And Blue |
8/1(-14%) | (6) We're Red And Blue 8/1, Needed the run when down the field in a handicap hurdle over 2m1f at Aintree last time; effective at 2m and acts on soft and good ground; needs to bounce back but fair mark on novice form if doing so. Best front-running; tailed off when second favourite at Aintree four weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (9/1 -13%)Graecia |
9/1(-13%) | (10) Graecia 9/1, Won by 3½l off 86 at Worcester three starts back and ran to form when second, beaten 4l off 93 last time; usually held up; effective at 2m on good ground; still on a fair mark based on flat form, and latest effort was strongly boosted. Hard to settle but she's an improving mare who has to be considered each-way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (12/1 +40%)Time Interval |
12/1(+40%) | (7) Time Interval 12/1, Made too much use of when stepped up in trip and didn't stay, finishing down the field in a 2m5f handicap hurdle at Cheltenham last time; had been in good form before that; effective at 2m and may not get 2½m; mark looks fair. Ran well in the mud on Flat and could be interesting brought back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (14/1 -40%)Bluegrass |
14/1(-40%) | (2) Bluegrass 14/1, Won this race last year and scored by a nose off 122 at Southwell three starts back; effective at 2m, acts on soft but prefers good ground; in fair form and should benefit from a sharp track, with the drop in trip a plus. Not without blemishes but two good runs from three starts this term; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (22/1 +12%)Benvoy |
22/1(+12%) | (5) Benvoy 22/1, Made too much use of when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Chepstow last time; returns after a short break; effective at 2m on good to soft and good ground; current mark looks about right. Down the field on last two outings; hopes are pinned on wind surgery turning things around. |

(1) (33/1 -175%)Bust A Move |
33/1(-175%) | (1) Bust A Move 33/1, Far too keen and needed the run when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Wetherby last time; had been in good form previously; usually held up; effective at 2m and handles good to soft and good ground; mark looks tough. Progressed well as a juvenile last season; failed to settle in a first-time hood on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (33/1 -83%)Callin Baton Rouge |
33/1(-83%) | (9) Callin Baton Rouge 33/1, Ran to form but tired late on ground softer than ideal when 8l third in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Southwell last time; effective from 2m to 2½m and handles any ground; back on last winning mark and generally consistent. Not disgraced on last two outings but needs better; peak efforts have been on good ground. |

Haas Boy hasn't looked back since racing under the tutelage of Chester Williams and merits respect in his hat-trick bid. However, a 5lb higher mark on this rise in class does demand more and preference is for DON'T MIND IF I DO. The five-year-old was a bit too fresh on his third-placed seasonal debut over 2m1f at Aintree last month and this ease in distance looks ideal. Clap Of Thunder could also play a leading role.

Don't Mind If I Do still looks promising but HAAS BOY can continue his resurgence with another win.

11/10(+41%) | (2) Al Kalila 11/10, Had too much to do behind an all-the-way winner when beaten 4l off 122 here last time. Effective from 2½m to 3m. Latest form has been franked, and he can do better over fences. Runner-up over C&D on chase debut despite bad mistake mid-race; strong candidate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (9/2 +10%)Skuna Bay |
9/2(+10%) | (4) Skuna Bay 9/2, Went clear with ease and improved up in trip under a positive ride when winning a novice hurdle at Bangor-on-Dee by 7½l last time. A definite threat with promise of more to come over fences. Made all in 2m7f Bangor novice h'dle; could take another step forward on h'cap/chase debut. |

(3) (5/1 +23%)I Am Max |
5/1(+23%) | (3) I Am Max 5/1, Won by a head off 118 over 2m4f at Hexham on his penultimate start. Outpaced and well held in a stronger race, finishing tenth beaten 51l off 121 last time. Effective up to 3m on good or good to soft ground; mark looks stiff. Tailed off latest but made bad early mistake; won at Hexham previously when back chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (5/1 -100%)King Of Answers |
5/1(-100%) | (1) King Of Answers 5/1, Never found a rhythm when beaten 5l in a 2m4f handicap chase at Hexham last time. Off a short break. Effective between 2½m and 3m, handles good to soft ground. The mark looks stiff and jumping must improve. Point runner-up who retains potential now back up in trip on his second chase start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (9/1 +18%)Young Jack |
9/1(+18%) | (5) Young Jack 9/1, Outclassed when stepping up in grade and finished down the field in a 2m5f handicap hurdle here last time. Returns from a long layoff but could offer value based on best hurdle form. Won over hurdles on this card 12 months ago; this point winner could be suited by chasing. |

AL KALILA made a pleasing start to life over fences over C&D behind leading Borders National fancy Cadell (2:00) last month and that experience is likely to benefit him greatly. Stuart Crawford's charge did well to recover from a bad mistake on that occasion and isn't likely to be inconvenienced by a 2lb rise. Skuna Bay returned to win a novices' hurdle at Bangor and connections waste no time in switching to the larger obstacles off what may be a workable rating. King Of Answers has every chance of reversing Hexham form with I Am Max, especially given the fact the latter has since disappointed at Carlisle.

Topweight KING OF ANSWERS is open to improvement now back up in trip on his second chase start and earns the vote ahead of Al Kalila

(5) (5/6 +24%)Kargese |
5/6(+24%) | (5) Kargese 5/6, Winner of three Grade 1s and from a yard that has taken four of the last nine runnings. Finished third, beaten 6l, in the Boodles Champion Hurdle (Grade 1) over 2m at Punchestown on her latest outing. The top jockey returns, and she's the pick on the balance of form starting out over fences. Grade 1-winning juvenile, won last term's County Hurdle, sets the standard on hurdles form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (11/4 +39%)Kala Conti |
11/4(+39%) | (4) Kala Conti 11/4, From a yard that has won two of the last nine renewals of this race. Won a beginners' chase here over 2m5f by 9 1/2l last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and suited by decent ground. A classy mare who may do even better chasing; her debut form looks strong. Ended last season with reverses over hurdles, started brightly over fences at this venue. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (9/2 +31%)Break My Soul |
9/2(+31%) | (1) Break My Soul 9/2, Ran to form when beating more experienced rivals in a beginners' chase at Gowran Park over 2m by 3 1/2l last time. Effective at 2m and acts on any ground. Thriving since joining this yard with more to come over fences; a big player up in grade. Very useful 140-rated hurdler, made a fine start to her chasing career with Gowran win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (8/1 -78%)Jalila Moriviere |
8/1(-78%) | (3) Jalila Moriviere 8/1, Yard has won four of the last nine runnings of this race. Travelled strongly and went clear with ease when winning a beginners' chase at Sligo over 2m2f by 24l last time. Effective from 2m to 2m2f and acts on any ground. A useful chase recruit already worth this step up in grade. Trounced weak opposition on chase debut, not in the same league as Kargese over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (25/1 -79%)Tahaa |
25/1(-79%) | (8) Tahaa 25/1, Made a promising start when winning a mares' hurdle over 2m2f at Compiegne on debut. Trainer in form, but she's hard to recommend in this much stronger contest. Won on soft ground over hurdles in France in April, thrown in at the deep end here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (40/1 -43%)Kilbarry Saint |
40/1(-43%) | (6) Kilbarry Saint 40/1, Outclassed and unsuited by the drop in trip when fourth, beaten 34l, in the Craddockstown Novice Chase (Grade 2) over 2m at Punchestown last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and acts on soft and good to soft ground. Generally consistent but needs a drop in grade. Has plenty of ability and has kept good company, given another ambitious target here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (66/1 -100%)Cottesloe Sunshine |
66/1(-100%) | (2) Cottesloe Sunshine 66/1, Made mistakes and never threatened when comfortably held in a beginners' chase over 2m5f here last time. Trainer in form. Effective at 2m and suited by decent ground. The drop in trip should help this Listed hurdle winner, but she must leave her debut effort behind. Capable 138-rated hurdler, remote fifth behind Karla Conti on chase debut, up against it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (300/1 -100%)Sayitfirst |
300/1(-100%) | (7) Sayitfirst 300/1, Had no obvious excuse when finishing down the field in a handicap chase over 2m2f at Thurles most recently. Had been in good form prior. Effective at 2m and suited by decent ground. A progressive handicapper but looks out of her depth here. Useful handicap chaser at a modest level, will need a chapter of accidents to feature here. |

Grade 1 winner KARGESE can make a winning start over fences here. Willie Mullins' mare was last seen running a big race to finish third behind star stablemate State Man in top level company at Punchestown in early May. She won the County Hurdle prior to that at Cheltenham and is pitched straight into Graded company now on her chase debut. Old rival Kala Conti bounced back to winning ways on her chase debut here a fortnight ago and that experience is a plus. She could be the danger. Break My Soul and Jalila Moriviere were also good winners first time out over fences and have to come into calculations in a good race.

No surprise that Willie Mullins is content to launch KARGESE over fences in this grade. She should be equal to the task

13/8(+41%) | (1) De Kingpin 13/8, Outpaced and needed the run on chase debut when fourth, beaten 21l in a 2m3f handicap chase at Ffos Las last time. Effective at 2½m and handles soft ground. Fair mark on best hurdle form but unreliable and stamina to prove for 3m. Has a bit to prove in this second chase but this looks an uncompetitive race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (7/4 +68%)Isle Of Gold |
7/4(+68%) | (3) Isle Of Gold 7/4, Improved up in trip in first-time cheekpieces on chase debut when second, beaten 10l in a 3m1f Warwick handicap chase last time. Trainer in form and effective at 2½–3m. Could progress with experience though the mark looks demanding. Staying-on 10l second on handicap/chase debut at Warwick (3m1f, good to soft) in January. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (4/1 +27%)Jongleur D'etoiles |
4/1(+27%) | (4) Jongleur D'etoiles 4/1, Needed the run on chase debut when finishing down the field in a 2m3f handicap chase at Fontwell last time. In good form prior and effective at 3m on soft or good ground. Progressive hurdler last term who could improve on debut form. Remote on chasing debut one month ago, but after a break and over a much shorter trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (9/1 -50%)Trapista |
9/1(-50%) | (5) Trapista 9/1, Made mistakes and was outpaced when never threatening, finishing 16l third in a Ludlow handicap chase last time. Cheekpieces are applied for the first time. Effective around 2½m but an out-of-form veteran at present. First cheekpieces and second go beyond 2m5f, having been well beaten over 3m latest outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (11/1 +21%)Zacony Rebel |
11/1(+21%) | (6) Zacony Rebel 11/1, Ran to form when beaten 3¼l off 92 here last time. Effective at 2m4f and just about stays the sharp 3m. Best on good ground; inconsistent but only slightly above last winning mark. 2nd of four to Fern Hill over C&D latest; inconsistent but has chance in this small field. |

DE KINGPIN offered enough encouragement on his fourth-placed chase/seasonal bow at Ffos Las to suggest that a race of this nature is within his compass. Ben Pauling's charge should appreciate this ease in class and a 3lb drop may prove lenient. The biggest threat may emerge from Isle Of Gold, who posted a good second on his first attempt over the larger obstacles at Warwick in January, ahead of Trapista.

This may prove the right opportunity for the very lightly raced ISLE OF GOLD, whose stable has been operating at a fine strike-rate.

10/3(-11%) | (6) De Legislator 10/3, Outpaced but rallied and needed every yard to land a handicap by 1/2l off 112 over 3m at Ayr last time. Effective at 3m and acts with cut. Remains well treated on hurdle form with more to come over marathon trips. Very lightly raced 8yo; has won his last two and looks a good prospect for marathon trips. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (7/2 +50%)Diamond Dealer |
7/2(+50%) | (7) Diamond Dealer 7/2, Improved again when landing a handicap by 9l off 110 over 3m at Chepstow last time. Trainer in form and enjoys making the running. Effective from 2½m to 3m, suited by decent ground; progressing over fences. 2-2 since joining Dan Skelton; into the unknown stamina-wise but entitled to respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (11/2 +66%)Catch Catchfire |
11/2(+66%) | (10) Catch Catchfire 11/2, On a good mark judged on chase form; travelled well but tied up late having looked the winner, fitness gave way when beaten 1/4l off 106 over 3m1f at Warwick last time. Wants 3m+; progressive until latest and needs a return to longer trips. Looked all about stamina when winning over 2m6f and 3m2f last season; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (6/1 -20%)Gold Clermont |
6/1(-20%) | (8) Gold Clermont 6/1, Outpaced but rallied and returned to form down in grade when beaten a length off 108 over 3m2f at Uttoxeter last time. Suited by 3m+ and acts with cut. On her last winning mark and could build on that revival. Back to form with close 2nd on stable debut and she's one to consider now back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (7/1 +0%)Neo King |
7/1(+0%) | (9) Neo King 7/1, Outpaced but just failed when beaten a neck off 106 over 3m4f at Fontwell last time. Suited by 3m+ with plenty of cut; generally consistent, well handicapped on Irish form and should benefit from a marathon trip. 0-8 under rules but has gone close in 2 Nationals this year; could be bang there once more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (10/1 -43%)President Scottie |
10/1(-43%) | (5) President Scottie 10/1, Ran to form but flattened out late back from a break when fourth, beaten 12l, in a handicap chase over 3m at Ayr last time. Wears cheekpieces for the first time; effective from 2½m to 3m and a consistent performer. 0-6 over fences but the cheekpieces/step up in trip are possible sources of improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (14/1 -100%)Cadell |
14/1(-100%) | (1) Cadell 14/1, Returned to form in first-time blinkers, suited by a positive ride and decent ground, landing a handicap by 4l off 130 over 2m7f here last time. Effective around 3m, acts on good ground; unreliable, may stay further but wouldn't want rain. Two wins here this year (3m2f/2m7f), with a career best in first-time blinkers last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (16/1 -33%)Fairlawn Flyer |
16/1(-33%) | (4) Fairlawn Flyer 16/1, Made a bit too much use of himself when 21l third in a handicap chase over 3m5f at Sedgefield last time. Effective at 3m+, acts on soft but prefers decent ground. Progressive through the summer though current mark demands more. Won the Highland National in April and he's better than he showed in the Durham version. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (22/1 -38%)Grozni |
22/1(-38%) | (2) Grozni 22/1, From a yard that has won four of the last eight runnings of this race. Made mistakes and never threatened when comfortably held in a handicap chase over 2m7f here last time. Suited by 3m on good ground; in moderate form. Below par of late but 4th in Scottish National in April; yard has excellent record in race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(11) (25/1 -14%)Breeze Of Wind |
25/1(-14%) | (11) Breeze Of Wind 25/1, Made mistakes and was outpaced, needing the run when comfortably held in a handicap chase over 3m at Ayr last time. Effective at 3m+ and suited by plenty of cut; should improve for that outing. Stays well but he's 6lb out of the handicap this afternoon which makes things tough. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (40/1 -150%)Bodhisattva |
40/1(-150%) | (3) Bodhisattva 40/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase over 3m7f at Perth last time. Usually held up; effective at 3m+, needs decent ground. Unreliable and the handicapper has barely relented. Poor strike-rate over fences but on a handy mark and stays well; not ruled out each-way. |

DE LEGISLATOR has shaped as though a test of this nature would bring out the very best in him. Twice a winner over fences at Ayr and Wetherby, the eight-year-old has been particularly strong at the finish on both occasions and a 6lb rise for the latest success doesn't appear to be insurmountable. Diamond Dealer arrives with an unbeaten record over fences and is likely to enter calculations along with top-weight Cadell and Gold Clermont.

The lightly raced 8yo DE LEGISLATOR (nap) has stayed on strongly to win over 3m on his last two runs and could be even better now at 4m.

5/4(+29%) | (1) Kalypso'chance 5/4, Travelled well and improved up in trip when winning the Monksfield Novice Hurdle (Grade 3) at Navan over 2m4f by 1 1/4l last time. Trainer in form, effective from 2m to 2 1/2m, acts on soft, and looks capable of defying the penalty. Dual-bumper winner got Gr.3 hurdles success upped in trip latest; penalised but big chance. |

(5) (7/2 -17%)Good Girl Kathleen |
7/2(-17%) | (5) Good Girl Kathleen 7/2, Finished second, beaten 2 1/4l in a Listed Novice Hurdle here last time. Effective from 2 1/2m to 2 3/4m and acts on soft and good. Progressive with more to come at 3m, and the stable's first string on jockey bookings. Debut hurdles winner at Listowel and 2nd over C&D latest; Meyler stays loyal. |

9/2(+10%) | (4) Divaboriva 9/2, Improved again when second, beaten 1 1/2l in a maiden hurdle over 2m7f at Thurles last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and acts with cut. Progressive and with form confirmed, though more required stepping up in class. Bumper winner took third in Gr.3 bumper and made 1-5 chance work latest; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (7/1 -17%)Quantum Quest |
7/1(-17%) | (2) Quantum Quest 7/1, Ran to form when beaten 9 1/4l in a handicap hurdle at Cheltenham last time. Suited by 3m and can stay further. Generally consistent since stepping up in trip, and has an experience edge over some rivals. M'den and h'cap winner ran creditably up in grade at Cheltenham latest; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (17/2 -31%)Barra Rua |
17/2(-31%) | (3) Barra Rua 17/2, Did it cosily and improved up in trip when winning a maiden hurdle at Tramore over 2m5f by 8l last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m, progressive with form franked, and likely to appreciate the longer trip in higher company. Tramore bumper and m'den hurdle winner, but appears stable second string. |

KALYPSO'CHANCE looks the one to beat here, despite having to give weight away to his rivals. The Masked Marvel gelding stepped forward from his hurdling debut to post a convincing success in the Monksfield Novice Hurdle at Navan three weeks ago and there could be more to come from him stepping up in trip again now. The mares in the race get almost a stone from the selection and Good Girl Kathleen could be the danger. She ran well when chasing home the progressive Tackletommywoowoo here early last month. Quantum Quest is more experienced than most and is another to consider.

All hold chances but KALYPSO'CHANCE was a graded winner last time upped in trip and is selected despite carrying a penalty

33/1(-18%) | (2) Bamber 33/1, Raced a bit freely but ran to form when comfortably held in a bumper at Kempton last time. Returning from a long layoff and has plenty to prove. Beaten a good way in his two bumpers, albeit in races won by good prospects. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (40/1 +50%)Eastern Shores |
40/1(+50%) | (10) Eastern Shores 40/1, Went clear but made too much use of herself and was well beaten in a novice hurdle here last time. Wears a hood for the first time. Point winner who showed promise in 2m bumpers and acts on good ground; one for handicaps over hurdles in due course. Hasn't looked a winner waiting to happen in two runs over hurdles after wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (66/1 -65%)Sense Of Reason |
66/1(-65%) | (7) Sense Of Reason 66/1, Had too much to do after missing the break when fourth, beaten 8l, in a 10f handicap at Chelmsford last time. Trainer in form and returns from a short break, but has plenty on his plate. Won his penultimate Flat start (1m2f on Chelmsford AW) but that was a Class 6. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(11) (100/1 +0%)Ever Ready |
100/1(+0%) | (11) Ever Ready 100/1, Departed when held on last appearance and returns after a very lengthy absence. Effective at 2m but yet to show much and best watched for now. Modest form in two bumpers and as many races over hurdles during 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (250/1 -25%)Glenmuick |
250/1(-25%) | (5) Glenmuick 250/1, Made mistakes and found little when finishing down the field in a maiden hurdle at Warwick last time. Needs significant improvement. Tailed off in a bumper at Worcester and a 2m maiden hurdle at Warwick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (250/1 -25%)Saachi |
250/1(-25%) | (6) Saachi 250/1, Never threatened and continued in moderate form when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Southwell most recently. Acts on good ground but remains an inconsistent maiden in both codes. Lowly rated Flat maiden who has made a very quiet start to life over hurdles. |

2024 Derby runner-up AMBIENTE FRIENDLY should have learned plenty from his fourth-placed hurdle debut at Cheltenham and makes grand appeal. The four-year-old showed signs of inexperience and this emphasis on speed is likely to suit. Wondering Why arrives on the back of a promising third at Southwell and may give the selection most to think about, although it would be no surprise to see Bobajob bounce back to form tackling timber for the first time.

Former high-class Flat performer AMBIENTE FRIENDLY hinted at a future over hurdles when running well for a long way at Cheltenham.

3/1(+33%) | (1) Matata 3/1, All but fell late and tired up the hill when finishing a 17l third in the Shloer Chase (Grade 2) over 2m at Cheltenham last time. Enjoys making the running, effective at 2m, acts on any going, and needs to dominate. Went close in this last year and ran really in Cheltenham Grade 2 last time; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (10/3 +26%)Saint Segal |
10/3(+26%) | (3) Saint Segal 10/3, Scored by 5l off 144 over 2m3f at Chepstow on his penultimate start, then improved again when second beaten 7l off 148 last time. Trainer in form; effective between 2m and 2½m, acts on soft and good to firm; hugely progressive. Runner-up in the Haldon Gold Cup and this progressive 7yo is entitled to respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (5/1 +0%)Nells Son |
5/1(+0%) | (5) Nells Son 5/1, Won this race last year off same mark. Not given a hard time and likely needed the run when beaten 7l in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f at Carlisle last time, probably a prep for chasing. Looks the market's pick with drop back in trip a plus. Runs off the same mark as when winning this last year and he's high on the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(7) (11/2 +8%)Traprain Law |
11/2(+8%) | (7) Traprain Law 11/2, Outpaced but ran to form when fourth beaten 13l in a handicap chase over 2m at Cheltenham last time. Enjoys making the running, effective at 2m, and acts on any ground. Three-time course winner who has dropped to a dangerous mark and is in with a chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (9/1 +36%)Tommy's Oscar |
9/1(+36%) | (6) Tommy's Oscar 9/1, Struggled under a big weight and was comfortably held in the bet365 Handicap Chase over 2m3f at Wetherby last time. Cheekpieces on for the first time; effective at 2m; a generally consistent veteran. 13lb lower than when third in this last year but this 10yo has looked regressive of late. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (9/1 -50%)The Other Mozzie |
9/1(-50%) | (4) The Other Mozzie 9/1, Up in trip and didn't stay on soft ground when well beaten in the Paddy Power Gold Cup Handicap Chase over 2m4f at Cheltenham last time. Effective at 2m, suited by a sound surface, acts on good to soft; needs a drop back in trip. Ran well before fading into 7th in Paddy Power Gold Cup; in calculations back down in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (12/1 -50%)Unexpected Party |
12/1(-50%) | (2) Unexpected Party 12/1, Ran to form, just flattening out up the hill behind a less exposed rival when second beaten 5l in a graduation chase over 2m at Carlisle last time. Effective at 2m, acts on soft and good ground, and remains consistent. Second in the Grand Annual in March and also at Carlisle last month; might not be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (18/1 -64%)Hombre De Guerra |
18/1(-64%) | (8) Hombre De Guerra 18/1, Landed a handicap by 3/4l off 122 at Ayr on his penultimate start. Outpaced, outclassed, and needed the run when fourth in a graduation chase at Carlisle last time. Effective around 2m, acts on soft; likely to do better back in grade. 2-2 in handicap chases (both 2m on soft at Ayr) and this unexposed 7yo could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (40/1 +0%)Aeros Luck |
40/1(+0%) | (9) Aeros Luck 40/1, Made a poor stable debut when comfortably held in a handicap chase here last time. Effective at 2m on good ground; had a busy summer in Ireland and looks on a stiff mark for his new yard. No return to form on stable debut in October; hopes pinned on wind op prompting revival. |

MATATA stepped forward considerably from his return to action when chasing L'Eau du Sud in the Shloer at Cheltenham until a jolting error at the final fence saw him lose second to Jonbon. The seven-year-old was runner-up to Nells Son in this contest last year before following up in a Windsor handicap off a 2lb higher mark and, despite being 3lb worse off this time around with Nicky Richards' gelding, he has every chance of getting back to winning ways. Saint Segal was runner-up in the Haldon Gold Cup behind a hugely progressive rival and commands respect, while dropping back in trip may benefit The Other Mozzie.

Strong cases can be made for a few but last year's runner-up MATATA is the class act in the race and his mark shouldn't be beyond him.

(2) (4/6 +0%)Majborough |
4/6(+0%) | (2) Majborough 4/6, Winner of three Grade 1s; won the Barberstown Castle Novice Chase (Grade 1) at Punchestown over 2m by 14l last time. Effective at 2m and acts on any ground; unlucky not to be unbeaten over fences and looks top class stepping into open company. Top 2m novice last term, huge potential if the flaws in his technique can be ironed out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (3/1 +14%)Found A Fifty |
3/1(+14%) | (4) Found A Fifty 3/1, Winner of two Grade 1s; travelled strongly, ran to form, and race fitness told when winning the Fortria Chase (Grade 2) at Navan over 2m by 5l last time. Effective from 2m to 2½m, not fully proven over 3m; remains consistent and should go close if getting stiff test. Dual Fortria winner, has the advantage of race fitness over the other main contenders. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (7/2 +22%)Energumene |
7/2(+22%) | (3) Energumene 7/2, Below form when 15l third in the Celebration Chase (Grade 1) over 1m7f at Sandown on latest start. Effective at 2m and suited by plenty of cut; dual Champion Chase winner who took this last year but may not be the force of old after a layoff. Dual Champion Chase winner, gained his third win in this race 12 months ago, now a veteran. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (20/1 -100%)Banbridge |
20/1(-100%) | (1) Banbridge 20/1, Winner of three Grade 1s; fourth when beaten 47l in the Punchestown Gold Cup (Grade 1) over 3m1f at Punchestown last time. Trainer in form. Effective from 2m to 3m, needs a sound surface; this looks a prep for the King George repeat. Good ground in his favour when winning last year's King George, vulnerable on this going. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (300/1 -100%)Ad Caelum |
300/1(-100%) | (5) Ad Caelum 300/1, Failed to pick up and may have found the ground a bit soft when comfortably held in a 2m4f handicap chase at Fairyhouse last time. Effective from 2½m to 3m and prefers decent ground; fairly treated and generally consistent. Experienced four-time hurdles winner, limited chasing experience, flying very high here. |

All eyes will be on MAJBOROUGH as he takes his first step into open company. His jumping let him down in last season's Arkle, but the five-year-old bounced back in some style at Punchestown. He has long been very highly regarded and can lay down a marker now in the 2m division. Found A Fifty comes here off the back of a good win in the Fortria Chase at Navan and could be the one to give him most to do. The admirable Banbridge is versatile trip-wise but probably wants further to be seen at his best, while Energumene has won this three times but isn't getting any younger.

With two runs under his belt this season FOUND A FIFTY appeals as a value alternative to last season's star novice Majborough

(1) (5/6 -4%)Djelo |
5/6(-4%) | (1) Djelo 5/6, Won this race last year and again showed his ability when landing the bet365 Charlie Hall Chase (Grade 2) at Wetherby over 3m by a length last time. Effective from 2½m to 3m; progressive and not quite top class but remains the one to beat. Won this last year and defends on the back of winning Wetherby's Charlie Hall. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (9/4 +32%)Saint Sam |
9/4(+32%) | (3) Saint Sam 9/4, Keen and went clear, ran to form and would have won but for hitting the last; a good ride. Enjoys making the running; effective around 2½m and handles any ground. Consistent type who likes small fields and could get an easy lead. Free-going front-runner on a track that will play to his strengths. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (9/1 +25%)Boombawn |
9/1(+25%) | (4) Boombawn 9/1, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 4¼l, in the Old Roan Limited Handicap Chase (Grade 2) at Aintree on return from a break. Best at 2½m on good ground; steadily progressive but this looks tougher and he needs the rain to stay away. Looked a bit rusty when just over 4l behind Hitman on these terms at Aintree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(2) (10/1 -54%)Hitman |
10/1(-54%) | (2) Hitman 10/1, Idled in front but returned to form down in trip when winning the Old Roan Limited Handicap Chase (Grade 2) at Aintree by 2l last time. Best around 2½m; still well treated on past form but can be tricky to win with. Back to something like his best in winning the Old Roan over this far at Aintree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (14/1 +13%)Edwardstone |
14/1(+13%) | (5) Edwardstone 14/1, Triple Grade 1 winner who needed the run when fourth, beaten 31l, in the Shloer Chase (Grade 2) over 2m at Cheltenham last time. Effective at 2m and acts on any going; not the force of old but retains some class. He's not as good as he was and has won only one of his last 16 races. |

DJELO looked better than ever when landing the Charlie Hall on his return at Wetherby and there could be more to come. Venetia Williams' charge arrives as the highest-rated rival and is taken to land this contest for a second consecutive year. Saint Sam ended last season with a decent second in a Grade 2 at Fairyhouse and isn't taken lightly, while Hitman bounced back to form when landing the Old Roan Chase at Aintree.

Last year's winner Djelo is the form pick but SAINT SAM (nap) has a lot in his favour and could enjoy an uncontested lead.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (6/1 -20%)Gibbs Island |
6/1(-20%) | (1) Gibbs Island 6/1, Won by 5 1/2l off 132 at Chepstow on his penultimate start; unsuited by the way the race developed when 11th beaten 30l off 140 last time. Effective at 2m and acts on soft and good ground; highly tried as a juvenile, current mark looks high. Heavy defeat three weeks ago was in a major handicap; he could rebound at this lower level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (7/1 +0%)Static |
7/1(+0%) | (3) Static 7/1, Had a bit too much to do at a sharp track but returned to form when beaten 2 1/2l off 118 at Huntingdon last time. Effective at 2m and needs plenty of cut; a fair mark on his best juvenile form and could build on that revival. Needs to find a bit extra but he mounted a strong finish last time to give some hope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (8/1 -33%)Bel Amigo |
8/1(-33%) | (5) Bel Amigo 8/1, Did plenty early and set it up for a closer when second beaten 11l in a 2m1f handicap hurdle at Carlisle last time. Returns from a short break; effective from 2m to 2 1/2m and looks fairly treated on his novice form. While not disgraced in handicaps last three starts, he needs better than that. |

(6) (17/2 -113%)Heart Above |
17/2(-113%) | (6) Heart Above 17/2, Improved again when stepped up in trip at his favoured venue, landing a handicap by 3 1/2l off 105 over 2m5f here last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m; consistent and goes particularly well at Kelso. In the form of his life with two wins and a second this autumn, all at this track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (18/1 +36%)Admiralty House |
18/1(+36%) | (4) Admiralty House 18/1, Needed the run when finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle over 2m1f at Carlisle most recently. Effective at 2m; form can be in and out. Although tailed off on yard debut, that was without his usual hood which now returns. |

SPECTACULARSUNRISE built on the promise of his hurdling bow when scoring in taking fashion at Bangor in October and an opening mark of 122 appears to be more than fair on handicap debut. Heart Above arrives seeking a third win at the track from his last four starts but the drop in trip may not be to his strengths. Therefore, the biggest threat might come from Static after his recent third at Huntingdon.

Preference is for the potential of handicap new boy SPECTACULARSUNRISE but it's not an easy race to weigh up.

5/1(-11%) | (19) Theanniversary Man 5/1, Did it cosily when landing a 2m handicap by 3l off 72 at Thurles last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m on good ground and may have more to offer now that he has won. Came good at Thurles last month on second run for this yard, further progress is likely. |

Track form is weak, could be a different proposition now after a recent maiden point win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(26) (11/1 +8%)Esticky End |
11/1(+8%) | (26) Esticky End 11/1, Had too much to do but showed a better effort when beaten 7l in a 2m handicap hurdle at Thurles last time. Effective at the trip; a Flat winner who hinted at improvement latest and needs to build on that. Second reserve, five wins on the Flat, poor hurdles form but not a bad run on latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (12/1 +0%)Rowdy |
12/1(+0%) | (3) Rowdy 12/1, Not far off form when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse last time. Effective over 3m on any ground and could improve. Twice placed in points, has shown just about enough to suggest he could be competitive now. |

(14) (18/1 +0%)Dalmatic |
18/1(+0%) | (14) Dalmatic 18/1, Disappointing back up in trip when comfortably held in a 3m handicap hurdle at Limerick last time. First-time cheekpieces applied; effective between 2 1/2m and 3m, handles cut; mark looks fair. Last season's form offers some hope, needs to improve on recent form, cheekpieces may help. |

(7) (20/1 +0%)Island Mccoo |

(10) (33/1 -32%)Wings Of Eve |
33/1(-32%) | (10) Wings Of Eve 33/1, Up in trip and may not have stayed when down the field in a 3m handicap hurdle at Down Royal. May need further than 2m and yet to show enough to prove up to this mark. Weak maiden form, big price when down the field at Down Royal on handicap debut. |

100/1(-52%) | (24) Rynok Square 100/1, Made mistakes and never threatened when down the field in a 2m5f handicap hurdle at Tramore last time. First-time cheekpieces fitted; usually held up but yet to show anything. No sign of winning potential, first-time cheekpieces will need to have a dramatic effect. |

MIDWEEK VOICES looks nicely treated here back over hurdles. The Eoin Doyle-trained gelding won twice over fences early in the year and rose 15lb as a result. He's yet to win over timber but this looks like a nice opportunity in this grade, with Paddy Cody taking 7lb off his back. Theanniversary Man was a good winner at Thurles 10 days ago and could play a big part again, despite a 6lb rise. Recent point-to-point winner Connemara Shore is another one to note on her return to the racecourse now.

There could be better to come from THEANNIVERSARY MAN who was having only his second run for this stable when winning at Thurles

(14) (1/1 +33%)Wonderful Everyday |
1/1(+33%) | (14) Wonderful Everyday 1/1, Very promising debut when winning by 2l in a 4yo bumper over 2m1f at Punchestown. Effective at 2m on good ground; strong debut form and more to come from this likely type for a top yard. Did well to beat male opposition (some of them useful) in a valuable Punchestown bumper. |

(11) (10/3 +17%)Lune Brillante |
10/3(+17%) | (11) Lune Brillante 10/3, From a yard that won this last year; quickened clear comfortably to win by 3 1/4l in a 2m1f maiden bumper at Carlisle on debut. Effective at 2m on good to soft; looks the stable's first string and could progress. Impressed at Carlisle and she's open to any amount of improvement for top yard. |

(2) (15/2 +6%)Babs |
15/2(+6%) | (2) Babs 15/2, Quickened clear impressively to win by 7 1/2l in a Stratford bumper on debut. Effective at 2m and acts on good ground; although that form has had knocks, she remains open to improvement. 22-1 for her Stratford debut (good) but won with a nice bit in hand. |

(13) (16/1 +52%)Ti'mamzel |
16/1(+52%) | (13) Ti'mamzel 16/1, 105,000 euros No Risk At All filly, half-sister to Etoile D'Ecosse, a poor performer at 20f; likely to need the experience on debut. 105,000euros 3yo; fifth foal; half-sister to French 2m2f hurdle winner A L'Abord'Az. |

(7) (18/1 -50%)Great Dance |
18/1(-50%) | (7) Great Dance 18/1, Quickened clear comfortably to win by 1 1/4l in a 2m1f bumper at Newton Abbot on debut. Effective over 2m on good to soft; the form is ordinary, and she needs to progress against stronger rivals. Beat only three rivals to win at Newton Abbot but did so comfortably under Harry Cobden. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(4) (18/1 -13%)Closutton |
18/1(-13%) | (4) Closutton 18/1, Ran to form but tired late when fourth, beaten 17l, in a Listed Mares Flat Race at Navan on ground softer than ideal. Effective at 2m2f on good ground; consistent and can improve back on quicker going. Could be better away from soft and heavy ground but she needs her best form yet. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(9) (20/1 -67%)Kaydence |
20/1(-67%) | (9) Kaydence 20/1, Needed every yard when improving to win an Amateurs' bumper at Uttoxeter by 2 1/2l last time. Effective at 2m on good or good to soft ground; progressing, though a sharp track may not suit best. Uttoxeter winner who might do well to follow up in this deeper race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(6) (22/1 +12%)Gidge |
22/1(+12%) | (6) Gidge 22/1, From a yard that has won two of the last eight runnings; outpaced and never threatened when well held in a Southwell bumper last time. Effective at 2m on good to soft; has plenty to find up in grade. First effort was better than the second; looks vulnerable unless she can raise her game. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(8) (25/1 -108%)Katios Queen |
25/1(-108%) | (8) Katios Queen 25/1, From a yard that won this last year; travelled strongly and made a very promising debut when winning by 3/4l in a 2m2f bumper at Fontwell. Effective at 2m; open to improvement and a player up in grade. Won debut at Fontwell but it's a negative that Harry Skelton has opted for Lune Brillante. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(10) (33/1 -32%)Ladies Day |
33/1(-32%) | (10) Ladies Day 33/1, Travelled well and improved again when second, beaten a short head, in a Mares bumper over 2m1f at Aintree. Trainer in good form; effective at 2m on good ground and should be winning soon in this sphere. Beaten but very competitive in her three bumpers, narrowly missing out at Aintree latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(1) (40/1 0%)Aj's Diamond |
40/1(0%) | (1) Aj's Diamond 40/1, Ran to form when finishing 4l third in an Amateurs' bumper at Uttoxeter on her latest start after a short break. Effective over 2m and handles soft and good ground; consistent but needs more at this higher level. Placed in bumpers at Warwick and Uttoxeter but this looks even more competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(5) (50/1 -79%)Dotties Promise |
50/1(-79%) | (5) Dotties Promise 50/1, Improved again up in grade when fourth, beaten 7l, in a Mares bumper over 2m1f at Aintree last time. Effective at 2m on good or good to soft; in good form and should remain competitive. Ran well from the front when penalised at Aintree (good to soft) but was behind Ladies Day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(12) (50/1 +0%)One Dimensional |
50/1(+0%) | (12) One Dimensional 50/1, Frontiersman mare and half-sister to Just Jenson, who was poor over 16f; wears a hood for the first time. Dam 2m4f hurdle winner and placed in 3m chases; yard 0-11 in bumpers in recent seasons. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(3) (66/1 -200%)Bunny Bee |
66/1(-200%) | (3) Bunny Bee 66/1, El Salvador filly whose dam was poor from 12f to 16f in both codes. First foal out a 1m 2yo winner; trainer has been doing well in races of this nature. |

Babs sprung a 22/1 surprise to make a winning bumper debut at Stratford in October and based on the manner of that victory, she has to be respected. Great Dance boasts a similar profile after scoring on her first start at Newton Abbot, but LUNE BRILLANTE gets the nod. The daughter of Walk In The Park made her way through the field to strike in ready fashion at Carlisle last month and Harry Skelton prefers her over stablemate Katios Queen, so that might be a tip in itself.

Competitive. LUNE BRILLANTE, a half-sister to six winners, impressed in brushing aside a well-touted Irish point winner at Carlisle.
Ths is the racecard key.
