Valadon

1/3(+8%)
(3) Valadon 1/3, Supported and shaped well behind promising one who was making it 2-2 over hurdles in C&D event last month, not knocked about. Sure to improve and should take the beating.
Form of his second here is some way superior to what his two rivals have achieved.

2nd (2) Push To Pass (3/1 -33%)
Push To Pass

3/1(-33%)
(2) Push To Pass 3/1, From the family of smart hurdler/useful chaser Better Times Ahead. No match for very promising winner in similar event at Kempton 3 weeks ago but should benefit from that and is capable of better.

Catboy

14/1(+58%)
(1) Catboy 14/1, Hinted at ability here on his only start in bumpers and shaped as if in need of the experience sent hurdling at Taunton last week.
Beaten about 17l in a bumper here (33-1) and then 24l in a 3yo hurdle at Taunton (66-1).
LTO Selection:

12:55 Exeter Conditions Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

It is very hard to oppose VALADON after he showed plenty of promise when filling second place on his racecourse debut over C&D a month ago. Harry Fry's gelding should only improve for that experience and is likely to prove a class above his rivals here. Push To Pass was well held on his first outing at Kempton but still edges out Catboy to be the main danger.

VALADON made a bright start over C&D last month and should have the beating of Push To Pass and Catboy with improvement on the way.

The most likely winner has to be VALADON after his encouraging debut here when beating all bar a previous winner.

No margin for error off this mark and dropping in trip could also find him out.

A maiden who didn't look the easiest of rides when tailed off on handicap debut at Taunton.
LTO Selection:

13:25 Exeter Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 22f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SINDABELLA had plenty in hand when winning over an extended 2m2f here last week and Nigel Hawke's mare could be hard to stop once again, despite carrying a 7lb penalty. No Rematch was only narrowly denied at Plumpton a month ago and he could prove to the main threat to the selection, although Unblinking should not be written off.

SHUIL CEOIL was prominent in the betting when unseating before halfway on his recent handicap hurdle debut and is given another chance to show he can take a step forward. Dan Skelton's I Look How I Look is another who could have more to offer in handicaps and also makes the shortlist along with Townhill and last month's Plumpton runner-up No Rematch.

The suggestion is SHUIL CEOIL, a lightly raced 5yo with some scope about him. He departed early at Ludlow when strong in the betting.

Mayhem Mya

5/4(-56%)
(3) Mayhem Mya 5/4, Fairly useful handicap hurdler who ran a blinder on second run over fences after 7 months off in listed mares' C&D event last month, settling better. Had a couple of these in behind and she's the one to beat on that showing.
Second over C&D last month and major claims with a reproduction of that effort.

Inspiratrice

12/1(+52%)
(5) Inspiratrice 12/1, 200/1-winner of 2m Taunton juvenile hurdle a year ago and didn't shape at all badly on her chasing debut at Worcester before struggling behind Mayhem Mya in listed mares' C&D event last month. She will find easier opportunities.
She was behind two of today's rivals in a chase here last month.

3rd (1) Blue Beach (5/1 +23%)
Blue Beach

(1) Blue Beach 5/1, Off the mark over hurdles when landing odds at Huntingdon in February. Advanced her form when second in a well-contested handicap at Newbury next time before not seen to best effect final start. Makes chase debut (from family of very smart chaser I'msingingtheblues). Yard going well again.
Bumper/hurdle winner; faces no easy task on these terms now switched to fences.

4th (2) Endless Escape (3/1 -20%)
Endless Escape

3/1(-20%)
(2) Endless Escape 3/1, Ex-pointer who enjoyed a productive campaign over hurdles last season and shaped as if she'd come on for her chase debut/return in listed C&D mares' event last month fitted with tongue tie (Mayhem Mya second). That form is looking decent.
4-5 over hurdles; weakened on chase debut here but that run could well bring her on.
5th
5th (4) Midnight Ginger (5/1 +38%)
Midnight Ginger

5/1(+38%)
(4) Midnight Ginger 5/1, Likeable and consistent type over hurdles, returning with a good second in 19.4f Chepstow handicap last month. This is a tough enough and belated introduction to chasing but no surprise if she went well.
Useful hurdler; lacks chasing experience but could go well if taking to it.
LTO Selection:

13:55 Exeter Novices Chase (Class 3) 18f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

MAYHEM MYA outran odds of 33/1 to fill second place in a Listed event over C&D last month and the daughter of Authorized can go one better if reproducing that level of form here. Endless Escape was well held in the same contest but she could bounce back with the benefit of that outing and is a player based on her hurdles form. Others to consider are Midnight Ginger and Blue Beach.

MAYHEM MYA holds Endless Escape and Inspiratrice on the form of last month's listed C&D mares' chase that is looking good and she can come out on top. Blue Beach might have lots more to offer over fences and isn't dismissed.

Ben Clarke's ENDLESS ESCAPE ran better than the margins suggest when behind Mayhem Mya here last month.

C&D winner and made a pleasing return behind a progressive horse at Sandown.

Joker De Mai

(3) Joker De Mai Evens, Useful chaser in France, winning final 2 starts on that side of the Channel during the spring. Built on his first run for the yard when justifying support in style in 11-runner handicap at Lingfield (19.5f) 10 days ago and makes plenty of appeal under a penalty.
3lb well-in under a penalty after bolting up on last week's handicap debut.
3
3rd (1) Quinta Do Mar (16/1 -14%)
Quinta Do Mar

16/1(-14%)
(1) Quinta Do Mar 16/1, 4-time winner over hurdles who opened his chase account at Fontwell in February. Not quite in same form when fourth at Sandown on final outing but has gone well fresh before, so worth a close look now returning to hurdles after 7 months off.
Had a wind op; returns on a tough mark and would prefer good ground.
4
4th (4) Imperial Bede (17/2 -143%)
Imperial Bede

17/2(-143%)
(4) Imperial Bede 17/2, French bumper winner who struck in a Huntingdon maiden hurdle in January. Struggled in the Dovecote/valuable Sandown Novices' Final Handicap after but got back on track after 7 months off when third in 7-runner handicap back at Huntingdon 37 days ago. (2) Molly Ollys Wishes 6/1, Possibly not the force of old but has fallen to a good mark and beat all bar a progressive one to whom she conceded 17 lb at Wetherby (19.7f, heavy) 33 days ago. Obvious player from only 1 lb higher.
Well handicapped and ran well at Wetherby; won't mind getting away from heavy ground.
LTO Selection:

14:25 Exeter Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 18f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

The progressive JOKER DE MAI had plenty in hand when winning at Lingfield 10 days ago and is difficult to oppose, despite the imposition of a 7lb penalty. Molly Ollys Wishes is on a workable mark and is the biggest threat to the selection, while Imperial Bede and Issam have scope to improve and Quinta Do Mar could also go well.

JOKER DE MAI justified support in the style of one well ahead of his mark at Lingfield last week, so he's hard to oppose under a penalty. C&D winner Issam shaped better than the distance beaten suggests on his return at Sandown and is feared most ahead of Imperial Bede, who gives the impression this longer trip ought to suit.

Joker De Mai could prove very difficult to beat but MOLLY OLLYS WISHES is entitled to give him a race now she's back in good form.

LTO Selection:

14:38 Southwell Handicap (Class 6) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Gift Of Raaj was a shock winner in this grade at Newcastle on his latest outing and he is likely to be in contention once again off a 2lb higher mark. However, EASY EQUATION gets the vote after he produced a pleasing effort when third over C&D in October and he has since switched to the Charlie Fellowes yard. The five-year-old gelding remains on the same mark and could be the one to beat. Cold Henry is another to consider on his return to the all-weather.

An open-looking curtain-raiser in which preference is for EASY EQUATION, who makes his first start for Charlie Fellowes and has held his form well since scoring over C&D earlier in the year. He can get the better of Prince Abu, who shaped as if still in good form but wasn't seen to best effect at Wolverhampton on Saturday, with Cold Henry and Gift of Raaj also fancied to feature.

The choice is EASY EQUATION who is taken to make a successful debut for Charlie Fellowes. His record over C&D reads 141533.

14:55 Exeter Handicap Chase (Class 3) 24f Race Class Flow

ENJOY YOUR LIFE was a comfortable winner over C&D last month and a 7lb higher mark might not prevent him from registering back-to-back successes. Still open to improvement over fences, the Venetia Williams-trained gelding could be too hot to handle in this company. Mumbo Jumbo was third behind the selection on that occasion and can get closer on these revised terms, while In Rem is also dangerous to rule out.

ENJOY YOUR LIFE had a couple of these rivals in behind when scoring over C&D last time and he's well worth a chance to follow up. Mumbo Jumbo, who was back in third, should be on the premises again and Jubilee Express could leave the form of his chasing debut behind with cheekpieces fitted.

15:08 Southwell Handicap (Class 4) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

TSUNAMI SPIRIT was seven lengths clear of the third when a neck second in a novice event at Catterick in October and he now makes his return to the all-weather on his nursery debut. The son of Invincible Spirit won at Kempton a couple of months ago and could defy a opening mark of 85. The main danger is Call Glory, who finished third over 5f here last time and could play a leading role off the same mark, while Flag Carrier warrants a market check on his first start in a nursery.

A comfortable winner at Kempton in October, TSUNAMI SPIRIT lost little caste in defeat behind another promising sort at Catterick later that month and, with the likelihood of more to come now handicapping back on AW, he's very much of interest again. Blue Prince's latest run is best excused and a better showing is anticipated. Call Glory is also expected to be in the mix.

This can go to nursery newcomer TSUNAMI SPIRIT who should be suited by the return to 6f after only just missing out over 5f last time.

LTO Selection:

15:25 Exeter Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Navajo Indy won by just over two lengths in a bumper at Newbury last time and is an interesting contender now switched to hurdles. However, preference is for MOUNT FERNS, who ran a lot better than the result suggests at Warwick over 2m3f last month, as he attempted to make all while setting a very strong pace. With more patient tactics and the drop in trip looking like a positive move, the five-year-old looks the way to go. Any market confidence behind Juventus De Brion on his debut would be of interest.

NAVAJO INDY improved with each start in bumpers and could prove tough to beat if bringing that level of form to hurdling. Davidoc and Alcedo may provide the chief threat.

This isn't a strong race. ALCEDO gets the nod in the hope that he can tap back into the considerable promise he showed in bumpers.

LTO Selection:

15:38 Southwell Handicap (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BILLYJOH was denied a run at the crucial stage when fourth at Chelmsford last month and that effort came in a tougher grade than this. The son of Mayson looks well treated on his current rating and it would be a surprise if he wasn't able to earn a second career victory. Sassy Belle just got up to win at Leicester in October and is an interesting contender on her first outing for the David Evans stable. Of the remainder, Beauty Choice makes the most appeal after his recent third at Wolverhampton.

BILLYJOH very much caught the eye when fourth at Chelmsford 6 weeks ago, poorly drawn and noted keeping on without having room to open up inside the final 1f. He appeals as being on a handy mark and can prove as much here. Honour Your Dreams, Beauty Choice and She's Centimental are a trio of others to consider.

The vote goes to the unexposed 3yo BILLYJOH (nap) who looked unlucky not to go even closer at Chelmsford last time and drops in class.

Divine Inspiration returned from a 220-day break to hit the frame over an extended 2m3f at Plumpton and the handicapper has dropped him 1lb for that effort, so he is one to note. However, marginal preference is for TRIBESMANS GLORY, who outran big odds to finish third over the smaller obstacles here last month. The son of Jeremy lurks on an appealing mark and could put these to the sword. Natty Night returns off a career-low mark and he can go well for an in-form yard.

NATTY NIGHT could be worth chancing to make a winning return off a career-low mark with his yard still in excellent form. The thriving Caro des Flos is next best ahead of Flash Gorcombe.

Top of the list is the lightly raced DIVINE INSPIRATION, who returned after wind surgery with a good third at Plumpton last month.

Both Clarendon House and Clearpoint are likely to prove popular following their recent Wolverhampton successes, but EXALTED ANGEL shades preference. Karl Burke's seven-year-old drops back into handicap company having hit the frame in a Listed event last time, and he looks more than capable from what is a workable handicap mark. Alligator Alley (third) is now 4lb better off with Clarendon House from their meeting last month and that could see him close the gap.

FINE WINE returns to AW on a tempting mark having had excuses on his last 3 starts so this 4-time C&D winner could be the answer back from a break. Clarendon House and Clearpoint both arrive on the back of career-best wins so are the obvious threats.

There may still be more to come from CLARENDON HOUSE who made a successful AW debut in a similar contest at Wolverhampton last month.

16:30 Chelmsford Stakes (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

This is all about GUY FAWKES as he bids to follow up his success over 7f at Southwell on his racecourse debut last month. Jane Chapple-Hyam's charge ran on well on that occasion and any amount of improvement can be expected. The biggest danger is D J Zanetti, who looked promising on his first racecourse start over 7f at Sandown, but that was in August 2022. Eadha looks booked for third.

GUY FAWKES made an impressive debut at Southwell last month and is firmly expected to go in again for all that D J Zanetti could trouble him if retaining ability, albeit he has a long absence to overcome.

The long-absent D J Zanetti still has potential but GUY FAWKES looked promising at Southwell and can make it 2-2.

16:45 Southwell Handicap (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Cabeza De Llave made the frame at Chelmsford last time and his turn might be near, but a chance is taken on DARK CRUSADE. The unexposed son of Camacho posted a series of solid efforts on the turf over the summer and this switch to an artificial surface might bring about further progression. Victors Dream appeals most of the remainder.

WATER OF LEITH's losing run is mounting up but he again shaped better than the bare result at Wolverhampton 11 days ago, not clear run early in the straight and finishing with running left. He's on a handy mark if getting the breaks and shades the vote. Cabeza de Llave and Victors Dream head the dangers, with Man On A Mission another worth keeping an eye on.

Back from a break, USTATH has plenty to recommend him having won seven times here with his attacking style well suited to this track.

17:00 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

A tentative vote goes to GOGO YUBARI, who had excuses when she finished fourth over 5f at Wolverhampton last time. Dylan Cunha's runner has been dropped 4lb in the ratings for that three-and-a-half-length defeat and is beginning to look very well treated. Via Blanca has finished second on each of her last two starts and she looks sure to run her race, while Bitcoin Profit should also feature.

VIA BLANCA has found only one too good on both her starts in nurseries and is the percentage call to go one better. Bitcoin Profit and Sea of Angels head the opposition.

After a solid third at Wolverhampton 16 days ago BITCOIN PROFIT is marginally preferred to Via Blanca.

17:15 Southwell Stakes (Class 5) 11f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Whatawit was on target over 1m4f at Wolverhampton 12 days ago and he must be taken seriously once again, but A GIFT OF LOVE receives 15lb from the former and is preferred, having improved to finish second at Newcastle last time. Ya Hafhd made her debut in an above-average Newmarket novice in the summer and she could be involved following an absence, while Dynamiste is another to consider.

Several with sound claims, though A GIFT OF LOVE makes most appeal, having showed much improved form after almost a year off at Newcastle last time. Sir Mark Prescott's Wolverhampton winner Whatawit heads the list of dangers, with Dynamiste and Ya Hafhd also considered.

The vote goes to A GIFT OF LOVE, who showed plenty of promise when a clear second at Newcastle on her stable debut last month.

17:30 Chelmsford Stakes (Class 4) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

TWIRLER made a very pleasing start to her career when running on well over 6f at Newcastle on debut and plenty of improvement can be expected from Charlie Fellowes' filly. The two-year-old was beaten under a length into third on that occasion and she's entitled to take a step forward. Star Mind shed her maiden tag at the third time of asking over 7f at Wolverhampton and she appears likely to offer another bold bid, while Pandora's Gift rates best of the rest.

TWIRLER impressed with the way she travelled when third at Newcastle 12 days ago and that's the best piece of form on show, so she takes narrow preference over Pandora's Gift, who also shaped well (over C&D) first time out. Star Mind isn't a forlorn hope.

Star Mind was impressive on her stable debut but TWIRLER shaped nicely 12 days ago and may be able to take a good step forward.

Bristol Hill has a chance at this level, while Latest Edition is still of low mileage and, having proven her stamina when tried over 1m4f last time out, she rates as a player. Nevertheless, this could be a good time to side with KHANGAI, who was doing his best work at the finish when second at Chelmsford last time. With the tongue-tie and blinkers combination retained, he can go one place better.

This looks wide open and it could be worth chancing EAGLE ONE. He didn't shape at all badly on his penultimate start at Kempton, and with his latest run over shorter best forgiven, he could well be up to proving himself on a fair mark. Bristol Hill, Graces Quest and Latest Edition are others fancied to be in the mix.

It could pay to take a chance on Seb Spencer's SENSE OF WORTH. The dual Dundalk scorer has shown a few more encouraging signs lately.

18:00 Chelmsford Stakes (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

ANNAFEL took a nice step forward from his debut effort to fill the runner-up berth over an extended mile at Wolverhampton in October and he is likely to improve even further for that effort. The son of Blame drops back in distance, which shouldn't pose him any problems and he can go one better. Newcomer Qazaq could prove to be the main danger after he changed hands for 300,000gns last year, while Pagliacci is noted too.

ANNAFEL stepped up on his debut when only just edged out at Wolverhampton and can put that experience to good use up against well-connected newcomer Qazaq.

Roger Varian's QAZAQ is the first foal from the 2019 Nell Gwyn Stakes winner Qabala. She can make a winning start to her career.

LTO Selection:

18:15 Southwell Handicap (Class 6) 11f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

HILL STATION emerged triumphant over 1m4f at Lingfield eight days ago and, given he is due to go up 1lb in future handicaps, he is a strong contender under the 5lb penalty. Fellow last-time-out winner Lochnaver is feared most, with the return to this distance not expected to pose any problems. Jumeira Vision, a winner over the extended 1m1f at Wolverhampton on his penultimate start, can also go close.

HILL STATION resumed winning ways to land some tidy bets at Lingfield last week and looks capable of defying a penalty. Lochnaver was a comfortable winner at Newcastle last month so is feared most ahead of lightly-raced 3-y-o Jumeira Vision.

The ones to concentrate on are Jumeira Vision, Lochnaver, and the thriving HILL STATION. Gina Mangan's mount receives the vote.

LTO Selection:

18:30 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

DESERT RAIDER showed a liking for a first-time visor when justifying favouritism over C&D on his latest outing, and he has been raised just 3lb for that display. The son of Advertise has also been gelded since, so that could eke out even more. Notre Dame produced the best effort of her career so far to hit the frame over 6f here last month and should go well, while Terratino Fire is another to note.

DESERT RAIDER improved to open his account over C&D last time and, while there wasn't much to spare, his pedigree gives him the scope for further progress, so he takes preference over Notre Dame, who finished to good effect over 6f here in November. Come On You Spurs has the potential to improve for the longer trip, so she's a notable nursery debutante.

The form of DESERT RAIDER's C&D win in September has been boosted and he looks the safest option. Come On You Spurs is feared most.

LTO Selection:

19:00 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 3) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

RIOT has been victorious over C&D the last twice, with the latest of those efforts coming in a class 4 event. The six-year-old was raised 2lb for that victory and it would be no surprise to see him bring the hat-trick up. Top-weight Sterling Knight performed well for third in this grade at Lingfield earlier in the month and could get into contention, while Prince of Zenda struggled on heavy ground at Newmarket last month but could go well back on the all-weather.

RIOT looks back in top form and is still well treated on past efforts, so he's worth a chance to complete the hat-trick at the possible expense of Sterling Knight, who was better than the result at Lingfield last time. A return to form from Prince of Zenda would make him of serious interest given there's the chance of an easy lead.

Sterling Knight should go well once again but a chance is taken on a change of scenery rekindling MIAMI THUNDER's enthusiasm.

LTO Selection:

19:30 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Recent C&D winner DICKO THE LEGEND was unfortunate to have finished second over 5f at Wolverhampton last time, having been denied a clear run for some distance approaching the furlong pole. Just 1lb higher and back over 6f, Roger Ingram will be hopeful of a clearer passage for his gelding and he can make amends. Havechatma looks set to mount another stern challenge having been on target at Lingfield and Southwell in recent weeks, while Fiscal Policy heads the remainder.

HAVECHATMA has reacted well to blinkers lately and, having had plenty in hand at Southwell a fortnight ago, she's capable of landing the hat-trick. In-form Dicko The Legend is a threat for all that he's not the most straightforward and there's a case to be made for Fiscal Policy.

One who arrives in good form is DICKO THE LEGEND (nap), who may be capable of further progress now back up in trip.

Six of SIR RODNEYREDBLOOD's 13 career wins have come at this venue, and he might add another to his tally. He's now 4lb below his last winning mark, with recent efforts suggesting he is coming back to the boil. Thank The Lord cruised to success over track and trip a fortnight ago, so a subsequent 7lb rise might not be enough to prevent him from mounting another bold bid. Legende d'Art is also noted.

THANK THE LORD confirmed himself on the upgrade when a decisive winner over C&D 2 weeks ago and looks one to keep on the right side of at this level. Legende d'Art only just failed here last time and is next best ahead of Sir Rodneyredblood.

Preference is for DAYTONA LADY, who came back to form when a shade unlucky not to finish closer at Wolverhampton last time.

PHILOS was said to have benefitted from the application of a first-time visor (retained) when winning over 1m4f at Kempton last month. The son of Teofilo was going away at the finish on that occasion, so he might have more to offer now upped in trip. Grand Duchess Olga continues to run well and she is unlikely to be far away, along with Royal Athena, who reverts to the Flat having posted a couple of decent performances, including a win, over hurdles recently.

PHILOS got back on the up when resuming winning ways at Kempton and remains of interest given how quickly he settled matters that day. Perthshire is worth another chance to build on his belated reappearance returned to a suitable trip so may emerge as the biggest threat ahead of Grand Duchess Olga.

Preference is for PHILOS, who is taken to defy a 5lb rise for his authoritative Kempton win.
