2nd (6) Palamon	4	Sean Flanagan	Paul Nolan	1-8 for Richard Hannon; signed off for that yard with a wide-margin success over 1m2f at York (good to soft) and then fetched 85,000gns; gave improved display on his third maiden hurdle outing when third behind a Gordon Elliott-trained pair at Naas; pulled up after being badly hampered by a faller at the fourth in the Boodles; tongue-tie on now.

This could boil down to a duel between two horses who failed to complete the course in the Boodles at Cheltenham. PALAMON, pulled up after being hampered, was the shorter-priced of the pair and may prove too strong for Mordor who was brought down. The physically imposing ERNIE FROM NURNEY (nap) is maturing along the right lines and may cope with the 6lb extra received for a Naas win. Possible dangers are Jay Pee M, who has been showing consistent form, and Aboy Joey, whose handicap debut at Cork was encouraging. This appears to be a match between two point winners who chased home an easy winner in a maiden hurdle at Cork. Runner-up DRISCOLLS HILL was the shorter-priced of the pair and gets the vote to confirm superiority with Lough Owel. An improved round of jumping might see Rokathir make his presence felt. Beaten by a progressive Charles Byrnes-trained mare here last week, COSMO RENFRO may be rewarded for his consistency. Last month's Cork winner Knockbrack Rambler should not be far away. 1st (1) Favori De Champdou	9	Jack Kennedy	Gordon Elliott	Grade 2 hurdle winner last season and achieved a higher chase rating after running away with 3m Grade 2 Punchestown novice in November; hasn't fulfilled that promise however since, most recently well held when a faller two out in Irish National; drops in grade here with major claims despite conceding weight.

Seemingly a match, with recent National faller FAVORI DE CHAMPDOU narrowly preferred to Joyeux Machin, both with questions of sorts to answer but well ahead of the rest, next best being Bella Bliss and yesterday's Clonmel second Gaelic Arc. [Alan Hewison]
