13:42 Carlisle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

LADY BABS failed to complete the four-timer but was far from disgraced when third in a stronger event at Musselburgh last month. The 11-year-old takes a drop in trip and may only need to produce a similar effort in order to continue her brilliant form. The Navigator was well beaten into fifth over an extended 2m3f here last time, but could get closer off a 1lb lower rating. Quaresome is the pick of the remainder.

This looks a very good opportunity for the thriving C&D scorer LADY BABS to resume winning ways on the back of a good Musselburgh third.

14:17 Carlisle (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Empty Nest justified favouritism at Newcastle on his most recent start and should mount a bold bid to complete a double, despite having a 3lb higher mark to contend with. However, TOP OF THE BAY gets the vote. Sam England's eight-year-old was denied by half a length into second at Newcastle earlier in the month and can defy his 1lb rise for that display. Yes And Yes completes the shortlist.

This could go to EMPTY NEST who is on the up and taken to defy a 3lb rise for his recent Newcastle win with that form working out well.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

BEL AMIGO made every yard of the running to score in easy style over 2m1f here last month and sets the standard with a rating of 115. The six-year-old should have no problems with this extra distance and can go in again. He's A Diamond sprung a 20/1 surprise to get off the mark in smart fashion at Market Rasen last time and is the main danger. Any market confidence behind Berry Edge would be interesting.

Even under a double penalty, BEL AMIGO looks the one to beat, with two course wins to his name and Dominic Hislop's 10lb claim to help.

HELLO JUDGE seems to raise his game at this venue and he could be tough to deal with as he bids for a fifth course success. The Ann Hamilton-trained gelding showed battling qualities in registering his latest C&D success and a 5lb higher rating might not be enough to prevent him from adding to his tally. Geryville also likes it here and is feared most, while Special Rate appeals most of the remainder.

This can go to BLEU D'ENFER who twice ran well here before struggling in a deep Listed handicap at Navan.

16:02 Carlisle (Class 4) 25f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

KILMORE ROCK won readily over just shy of 3m at Newcastle 19 days ago and assuming the cheekpieces have the same impact second time around, the low-mielage six-year-old has a good chance of following up. Cruden had a wind problem addressed after failing to justify odds-on favouritism at Newcastle last month and is another to monitor closely in the betting. The others have been mainly struggling to find their form but perhaps Forged Well could improve and figure with a first-time visor added.

Cruden takes a significant step up in distance and will be dangerous if seeing things out, but a safer option is KILMORE ROCK.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

HOMME D'UN SOIR has won three of his six starts over fences, having scored at Ludlow last time with plenty left in the tank. He looks to have more to offer over the larger obstacles, so a 5lb rise may not be enough to anchor Billy Aprahamian's charge. Newcastle winner Coup De Coeur found one too good back at the same venue, though the third home has subsequently boosted that form, and the seven-year-old can feature again. Clean Getaway is preferred of the remainder.

Coup De Coeur is building up a solid CV and commands respect, but the one to beat is the upwardly mobile HOMME D'UN SOIR (nap).

SEE A STRIDE has eased in the weights since joining Susan Corbett's yard and looks set to take advantage. She just failed to catch the winner in a maiden hurdle over course and distance last time, despite the unfavourable terms, and returns to handicapping with strong claims on that form. George Darling made a winning handicap debut at Market Rasen last month. He looks likely to pose a bigger threat than Sedgefield winner Rioja Alta, who is upped in class.

The vote goes to RIOJA ALTA who has taken his form up a notch in blinkers and can resume winning ways after a good Newcastle second.
