1st (5) (11/4 +0%)Velozee |
11/4(+0%) | (5) Velozee 11/4, 10 Mar; 92,000 euros Sioux Nation filly; half-sister to Glen And Tonic, very useful at 5f; top course jockey/trainer combination; could play a big part on debut. E92,000 yearling is by a quality sire and from a respected yard; check the market. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (10/1 +29%)Celestial Crown |
10/1(+29%) | (2) Celestial Crown 10/1, 18 Apr; 60,000 euros Naval Crown filly; half-sister to Chicago Pope, very useful at 6f; dam smart at 7f; could contend on debut for good trainer. By a first-crop sire and cost E60,000 as a yearling; the market can guide. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (2/1 +56%)Aedhmar |
2/1(+56%) | (1) Aedhmar 2/1, 17 Mar; 270,000gns Blue Point filly; half-sister to Rule The Waves, smart at 8f; dam useful at 8f as a 2yo; good connections and should get involved on debut. Related to several smart sorts; cost 270,000gns as a yearling; on the shortlist. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (25/1 -56%)Woodlawn Lily |
25/1(-56%) | (6) Woodlawn Lily 25/1, 17 Apr; Space Blues filly; half-sister to Mi Esperanza, smart at 5f; probably need the experience but interesting to see what market makes in comparison to stablemate Celestial Crown. By a useful sire; related to several speedy sorts; seems yard second-string. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (5/2 -82%)Nevermindtherain |
5/2(-82%) | (4) Nevermindtherain 5/2, 27 Feb; No Nay Never filly; half-sister to Puerto Rico, a dual Group 1 winner as a 2yo last season; dam high-class at 9f; trainer in form and this one should go well on debut. By a classy sire and from a quality family; top yard is in form so goes on the shortlist. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (7/1 -17%)Your Song |
7/1(-17%) | (7) Your Song 7/1, 14 Mar; 32,000gns Coulsty filly; half-sister to Galinea, very smart at 8f; dam smart at 6f as a 2yo; probably best watched on debut but yard has started well with its juveniles. Cost 32,000gns as a yearling; yard has trained a 2yo winner this season; respected. |

NEVERMINDTHERAIN is a half-sister to Classic hope Puerto Rico and may be able to make a winning debut. The daughter of No Nay Never is obviously among the more precocious juveniles in Ballydoyle, given that she appears early on, and Ryan Moore is a noteworthy visitor to Mallow. Robson De Aguiar often has his two-year-olds ready early and Your Song is respected. The Coulsty filly holds an entry in the Weatherbys Super Sprint. Aedhmar is another nicely-bred newcomer to note, with Jessica Harrington's charge a half-sister to Listed winner Head Mistress. Paddy Twomey's Velozee, a daughter of Sioux Nation, is another to keep an eye on.

A guessing game but NEVERMINDTHERAIN has excellent pedigree credentials and her yard has made a strong start to the season so is picked

1st (7) (10/3 +26%)Oh Cecelia |
10/3(+26%) | (7) Oh Cecelia 10/3, Ran to form for first handicap win at Naas by 1/2l last time; top course jockey; effective 5-7f, acts on soft, good and probably AW; in form and can go well once more. C&D winner last year got back to form at Naas; raised 7lb for that; fifth Friday at Curragh. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7/2 +56%)Chicago Pope |
7/2(+56%) | (3) Chicago Pope 7/2, Drop back in class and trip suited, given good ride when winning a maiden in first-time cheekpieces at Naas by 3/4l last time; effective 6/7f, acts on sound surface; can go well again. 6f winner has early speed and could cope with this trip but looks the stable second-string. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (7/1 -75%)Midnight Dusk |
7/1(-75%) | (5) Midnight Dusk 7/1, Ran at least to form 5l third in a 3yo race at Dundalk most recent run; effective 6f, acts on yielding and AW; steadily progressive. AW winner reportedly wasn't at home on easy ground at this track on debut. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (11/1 -144%)Shadow Run |
11/1(-144%) | (8) Shadow Run 11/1, Back on form tried in blinkers on handicap debut when second beaten 1/2l in a handicap at Naas latest; effective at 5/6f with cut; more to come this season. Beaten a half-length by Oh Cecelia at Naas but is 3lb better off today and should go close. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (6/1 +0%)Amiata |
6/1(+0%) | (4) Amiata 6/1, Found things happening too quickly when fourth beaten 3l in a 2yo race at Dundalk latest; returning from a break; effective 5/6f now, acts on yielding, good and probably AW; return to turf might suit. Maiden winner over this trip; easy ground should suit so is one to consider. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (11/2 0%)Michael's Well |
11/2(0%) | (1) Michael's Well 11/2, Built on previous experience when winning an auction race at Navan by 1/2l last time; effective 6f with cut; unexposed and more to come. No easy task under top-weight dropped to 5f on return but still progressing so respected. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (4/1 +38%)Joyful Tidings |
4/1(+38%) | (6) Joyful Tidings 4/1, Below form beaten 4 1/4l in a nursery at Naas last time; effective 5/6f, acts with cut; first-time hood might bring out more. Maiden winner over this trip not as good over 6f after; needs to return to debut effort. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (7/1 +22%)Nakamura |
7/1(+22%) | (2) Nakamura 7/1, Improved again off new mark when fourth beaten 2 1/2l in a nursery at Naas latest; effective 6/7f, suited by cut; progressive and has speed for drop to this trip. Dual 6f winner incl' here; has plenty of early speed so should be comfortable at this trip. |

MICHAEL'S WELL has to give weight away to his rivals, but looks like a nice type and may be up to the task. The Havana Grey gelding won at Navan on his second start last season and that form got a boost at Dundalk on Wednesday with the fourth winning impressively. Chicago Pope beat the selection at Naas, but the Harty-trained horse was a touch green on his debut then and has obviously improved since. Johnny Murtagh's other runner Nakamura may be a bigger danger. He was progressive last season and was last seen finishing a solid fourth in the Birdcatcher at Naas in October.

Just a half-length behind Oh Cecelia at Naas last time, SHADOW RUN can improve enough to turn the tables with her.

6/1(+0%) | (5) Sparky Sparky 6/1, Promising debut when 5 1/2l fourth in a maiden at Naas; effective 6f with cut; more needed but is with a good yard and should improve. 11-2 and late gains for a 5.5l fourth on debut at Naas, gelded since, drop to 5f a query. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (3/1 +63%)Wearing Stars |
3/1(+63%) | (11) Wearing Stars 3/1, Ran to form tried in tongue-tie when a length third in a maiden at Dundalk most recent run; top course jockey; returning from a break; effective 6/7f, acts on good and AW; consistent. Third at Dundalk the last twice, 5f worth a go, rated 73, place shout if fit after break. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/1 -6%)Fate's Gambit |
9/1(-6%) | (4) Fate's Gambit 9/1, Made plenty of use of but saw it out despite the ground when 7l third in a maiden at the Curragh most recent run; effective 6/7f, acts on heavy and AW, goes well ridden at front; needs more. Second on debut at Dundalk, heavy ground may not have suited latest, place chance. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (33/1 -32%)Merry Blacksmith |
33/1(-32%) | (9) Merry Blacksmith 33/1, Below form beaten 10l in an auction race at Navan last time; trainer in form; acts with cut, plenty of speed in pedigree so should improve dropped back to 5f. Modest efforts in both starts last year, qualifies for handicaps after this. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (16/1 +36%)Cashel Blue |
16/1(+36%) | (8) Cashel Blue 16/1, £3,000 Space Blues filly; dam smart 5/6f winner; cheap purchase who hardly stands out and likely to need this. Space Blues filly, dam a 5f-6f Listed winner, likely best watched on debut unless backed. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (300/1 -200%)Snap Decision |
300/1(-200%) | (2) Snap Decision 300/1, Too keen when well beaten in a maiden at Dundalk latest; bred for 6-8f; type to do better when handicapping. Huge odds and no show in three 7f maidens, hard to fancy dropped in trip. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (12) (5/1 +23%)White Smoke |
5/1(+23%) | (12) White Smoke 5/1, Too keen and didn't get home when fourth beaten 2 1/4l in an auction race at Dundalk latest; cheekpieces first time; effective 6f on soft and good; progressing until latest, could bounce back. Rated 80, some good runs in defeat last year, 5f could suit, looks the chief danger. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (66/1 -100%)Ace King Queen |
66/1(-100%) | (3) Ace King Queen 66/1, Squeezed out start, well below debut level when beaten in a maiden at Down Royal latest; absent for very lengthy period; plenty more needed. Promise on debut at two, not seen last year, new yard, watch unless market speaks. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) (150/1 -200%)Classical Symphony |
150/1(-200%) | (1) Classical Symphony 150/1, Poor debut in a tongue-tie when well beaten in a maiden at the Curragh; absent for very lengthy period; all to do. Off since heavy debut defeat in Oct' 2024, gelded, new yard, best watched. |

CARDIFF BY THE SEA should be hard to beat back now dropped into maiden company. Fozzy Stack's charge ran a cracker when fourth in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot and was only seen once more, when finishing last in a Listed affair at Naas. She was reported to be slightly lame after that run and returns from an absence now. White Smoke had some solid maiden form last season and looks the one most likely to give the selection something to think about. She has a mark of 80 and is tried in cheekpieces. Sparky Sparky shaped with promise when fourth on his sole outing at Naas last September and is a potential improver.

It is hard to get away from the form claims of CARDIFF BY THE SEA here, though easy ground is a slight concern

Placed in Group 3 and Listed company; will have to find improvement to take this. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (22/1 0%)Soldier's Tree |
22/1(0%) | (6) Soldier's Tree 22/1, Improved from debut to score with bit in hand when winning a maiden at Dundalk by 6l last time; off a short-break; effective at 7/8f on AW; should have speed for this drop in trip but up significantly in grade. AW winner takes a major step up in class and he has loads to find. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/8 +59%)King Cuan |
11/8(+59%) | (5) King Cuan 11/8, Never involved, drop in class needed when down the field in British Champions Sprint Stakes (Group 1) at Ascot most recent; top course jockey/trainer combination; usually held up; best at 6/7f, acts on soft and good; may have bit more to offer. Just denied in a Group 3 last term; rated 109 and this ground suits so can be a big player. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (9/4 -38%)Bucanero Fuerte |

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (14/1 +36%)Wannabe Royal |
14/1(+36%) | (10) Wannabe Royal 14/1, Ran to form back up in trip on return beaten 4l in Gladness Stakes (Listed) at the Curragh last time; effective 6-8f, suited by cut; needs more at this level. Decent run in the Listed Gladness Stakes last week; has loads to find with some of these. |

Reasonable debut run for this yard at Dundalk but needs a return to his best to score. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (40/1 -21%)Magical Vision |
40/1(-21%) | (8) Magical Vision 40/1, Back to form when fourth beaten 2l in a handicap at the Curragh latest; effective 5/6f, suited by plenty of cut; consistent but bit to find in this. Solid efforts in defeat lately but is rated only 81 so has loads to find in this grade. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

David Egan comes over to partner the classy BUCANERO FUERTE and he can make a successful return to action. The Wootton Bassett entire was last seen finishing mid-division in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint. A Group 1 winner as a juvenile, he scored at Listed and Group 3 level last season and this looks like a nice starting point for him this year. At the weights, King Cuan would appear to be the main danger. Paddy Twomey's charge made little impression in Group 1 company when last seen, but he was a solid stakes performer previously and this looks like his level. Unique Journey, a progressive handicapper last year, has the benefit of a run and could be place material.

BUCANERO FUERTE(nap) showed smart form last year after coming back from a stud career and goes well fresh so is hard to oppose.

1/2(+19%) | (8) Signora 1/2, Went on too soon on testing ground when second beaten 2l in a maiden at the Curragh latest; effective 6/7f, acts on any but sound surface will suit best; can rate more highly yet and should win this. Smart form at two, keen when reeled in late on return at the Curragh, the one to beat. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (4/1 +43%)Expert Dancer |
4/1(+43%) | (2) Expert Dancer 4/1, Ran slightly better here compared to debut when 3 1/2l third in a maiden at the Curragh most recent run; trainer in form; effective 6f with cut; should improve further. Two promising 6f maiden runs last term, 7f should suit, yard in fine form, place shout. |

10/1(-82%) | (4) Flower Forest 10/1, Siyouni filly; half-sister to County Wicklow, useful at 7f; dam very smart at 7f as a 2yo; top trainer and this one needs respecting on debut. Siyouni filly, dam a sister to Gleneagles, Marvellous & Happily, Moore prefers stablemate. |

16/1(+0%) | (7) Mardi Gras Queen 16/1, Charlatan filly; half-sister to Aspen Grove, smart at 10f; yard traditionally does well at this time of year and interesting to see what market makes of him. Charlatan filly, half-sister to yard's US Grade 1 winner Aspen Grove, check market. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (20/1 +20%)Divine Legend |
20/1(+20%) | (1) Divine Legend 20/1, Moderate enough debut run well beaten in a maiden at Leopardstown; hard to recommend for now with handicaps more his thing. 9-1 and beaten 14.5l on debut in Oct', needs to step forward massively from that. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

66/1(-136%) | (3) Flagstone Lady 66/1, 1,000 euros U S Navy Flag filly; half-sister to Wonder Kid, very useful at 12f; dam very smart at 7f as a 2yo; might need this. US Navy Flag filly, dam French Listed placed winner, watch unless the market speaks. |

66/1(-200%) | (5) Girl Bear 66/1, Needed the run when well beaten in a maiden at the Curragh latest; effective 7f and acted on soft as a 2yo; might do better once handicapping. Good effort on debut at Galway, below that level on seasonal return, needs more. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (40/1 -150%)Magna Kotcha |
40/1(-150%) | (6) Magna Kotcha 40/1, Some promise on debut beaten 8 1/4l in a maiden at Naas on debut; didn't quite stay 8f; improvement needed. 100-1 on debut at Naas (1m) and weakened late into sixth, much more needed. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (14/1 +0%)Zermatt Star |
14/1(+0%) | (11) Zermatt Star 14/1, Below form, market expected better beaten 6 1/4l in a maiden at Gowran Park last time; bred to be suited by around 8f; from good yard but needs more. Keen in both starts at two at around 1m, needs to settle better dropped in trip. |

SIGNORA looked like she would improve from her seasonal debut at the Curragh last month and should be hard to beat. The Frankel filly appeared to have things sewn up when kicking clear a furlong and a half from home, but was collared late on by Pollenca. She was easy to back and should strip fitter now. Andy Slattery, trainer of Pollenca, is represented here by Expert Dancer. The Expert Eye filly shaped nicely on two runs last season and could be a danger. Star Of Beauty is fitted with a visor after finishing sixth on her return at Dundalk and may get into the money.

Ryan Moore prefers the chances of SIGNORA over Flower Forest and this looks a good opportunity for her to get off the mark

100/1(-25%) | (7) Speckled Meadow 100/1, Well below down in trip in a handicap at the Curragh most recent; in good form prior; effective 8-12f, best with cut; hard to fancy. Four handicap wins up to 1m2.5f but is rated only 74 so has a mountain to climb. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Ryan Moore is an eyecatching booking for WEMIGHTAKEDLONGWAY and the Irish Oaks runner-up can make a winning return to action. She showed her Curragh effort was no fluke with a big run to finish fourth in the Prix de l'Opera and wasn't disgraced in another Group 1 at Ascot to finish her campaign. She looks like the class act now. Elana Osario has to carry a penalty for her Group 3 success last year and that makes life a bit tougher. She's a talented mare, though, and should play a big role. Magical Zoe has a long absence to overcome, having been on the sidelines since her Ebor success in August 2024, and may be best watched.

WEMIGHTAKEDLONGWAY looks the safest choice, being top-rated courtesy of some fine Group 1 efforts last year.

11/1(-38%) | (7) Adel 11/1, Below form down in trip on handicap debut beaten 7l in a handicap at Naas last time; effective 8f on sound surface; drop in grade might suit. Not a bad run when 4lb wrong in Madrid, this is less demanding, interesting runner. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (3/1 +25%)Sunrise Angel |
3/1(+25%) | (10) Sunrise Angel 3/1, Ran to form beaten a length off a 1lb higher mark at Dundalk last time; effective 6/7f, suited by cut; in form and can go well again. 3lb swing for neck defeat to Invincible Will last year, yard in form, dangerous to dismiss. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (16/1 +0%)Felix Somary |
16/1(+0%) | (2) Felix Somary 16/1, Below form tried in cheekpieces on return beaten 8l in a handicap at Naas last time; effective 6/7f, acts on soft and good; bounce back needed. Sligo maiden winner, no joy since, dropped 2lb after modest comeback run, needs more. |

Andy Slattery has made a terrific start to the new Flat season and SUNRISE ANGEL is interesting off bottom weight. The Calyx gelding was narrowly denied in a Curragh nursery on his penultimate start last season, collared late on by Invincible Will. He is 3lb better off and may be able to avenge that defeat. Perisher had some nice maiden runs last year and appears to be on a fair mark for his handicap debut. He could be a big player. Chapel Lane saw out the mile well on his third maiden run last term and is another to note on his handicap debut.

ADEL ran better than the bare result suggests in the Madrid handicap when 4lb wrong and a chance is taken on him in this lower grade
Ths is the racecard key.
