5/2(+55%) | (4) Darting Rose 5/2, Raced freely beaten 7l in a handicap hurdle at Southwell last time; let down by jumping that day; should come on for the run Latest run back from a break was encouraging and has place claims if building on that.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

LITTLE SOIREE would likely have placed at Plumpton last time, if not for being hampered by a faller at the last. Narrowly beaten at that track back in February, Chris Gordon's inmate has eased 2lb in the weights and a bold bid is expected with normal luck in running. Window Of Time looks on a fair mark based on her third at Southwell, while Alvesta is one to note handicapping over hurdles for the first time.

Handicap newcomer ALVESTA (nap) lacks experience but her opening mark looks manageable.

15/2(-15%) | (4) L'ennemi 15/2, Looked unenthusiastic beaten 9 1/2l in a handicap over 8f at Newcastle last time; up in trip; off a short-break; placed over 1m on flat; inconsistent in that sphere; bit more needed on hurdle debut Ten-race maiden on the Flat and makes hurdle/stable debut with stamina to prove.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

NOISY JAZZ is taken to make a winning debut over hurdles. A winner over a mile on the Flat, she's a half-sister to the Ascot Gold Cup hero Big Orange, and James Owen's charge could be bang there at the finish if taking to this discipline. The selection's stablemate High Court Judge ran well for a long way when fourth at Worcester and is noted, while Arcon has gone close over 2m on the Flat and could feature on his hurdling bow.

Noisy Jazz needs respect, especially if settling in the hood, but a chance is taken on ARCON who stayed well on the Flat.

4/7(+21%) | (1) Shadows In The Sky 4/7, Landed a handicap by 6 1/2l off 96 over 2m5f at Uttoxeter last time; trainer in form; well treated if turned out quickly; could follow up Made a successful stable debut at Uttoxeter on Saturday; respected despite 7lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (17/2 -6%)Prospect House |
17/2(-6%) | (6) Prospect House 17/2, Well backed when landing a handicap by 1 1/2l off 71 over 2m1f at Market Rasen last time; not proven trip; probably bit to come if stamina holds up Made all at Market Rasen last time; longer trip and other front-runners are the concern. |

8/1(-23%) | (4) Cloudy Wednesday 8/1, Well backed when scored by 3l off 85 over 3m at Fakenham penultimate start; second beaten 1/2l off 88 last time where went too fast; dangerous if allowed to dictate at sharp track but wants further 10lb higher than when winning this race in 2023, but comes here in good form; high on list. |

5th (3) (10/1 +17%)Calvic |
10/1(+17%) | (3) Calvic 10/1, Fourth beaten 40l in a handicap chase over 3m at Fakenham latest where failed to stay; tongue-tie first time; down in trip; likes the track; not out of it C&D winner; a long way behind Cloudy Wednesday last time; has had a wind op; tongue-tie on. |

6th (5) (22/1 -10%)Jassur Des Brosses |
22/1(-10%) | (5) Jassur Des Brosses 22/1, Did not get a clear run fourth beaten 11l in a handicap hurdle over 2m5f here latest; good ground suits; possible improver on chase debut 0-13 under rules; comes up against some in-form rivals on chase debut; others preferred. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SHADOWS IN THE SKY bounced back to form on his first start for James Owen's yard just three days ago. He returned an emphatic winner at Uttoxeter and can strike again while the iron is hot , despite a 7lb penalty. Cloudy Wednesday arrives in fine form and enters calculations, having won this contest in 2023, while Jeudidee will likely be sharper for last month's third at Warwick.

It may be worth taking a chance with JEUDIDEE who made a promising return at Warwick last month (form boosted).

1st (1) (5/2 +69%)Lihyan |
5/2(+69%) | (1) Lihyan 5/2, Below par well beaten in a handicap hurdle over 3m at Haydock latest where found little for pressure having looked a threat; second run after wind op; just 1lb above last winning mark; danger Worth considering after a solid effort back from wind surgery at a higher level last time.. |

13/2(-136%) | (5) Dear Ralphy 13/2, Ran to form beaten a head off 96 over 3m2f at Fontwell last time; consistent over hurdles and fences; latest form strong; threat Consistent 9yo who was only just denied last time and another bold bid can be expected.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (10/11 +52%)Kitesurfer |
10/11(+52%) | (3) Kitesurfer 10/11, Landed a handicap by 1 1/4l off 113 over 3m at Ludlow last time; that form boosted since; good ground suits; longer trip a plus; can follow up Will need to improve again to defy his revised mark but he remains open to progress.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/2 +61%)Press Your Luck |
11/2(+61%) | (2) Press Your Luck 11/2, Appeared not to stay comfortably held in a handicap hurdle at Plumpton last time; generally out of form; reduced mark not enough to recommend On a good mark but he's been out of form since returning from a long absence.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Chasing didn't work out for DEAR RALPHY but he went agonisingly close at Fontwell when returned to hurdles earlier this month. He's only 2lb higher and, in receipt of weight all round, he looks the one to beat. Ludlow scorer Kitesurfer merits respect off a 4lb higher mark, along with the consistent Briefly, for whom a second career triumph doesn't look far away.

Kitesurfer isn't passed over lightly but the suggestion is LIHYAN on his second run back from wind surgery and down in class.

10/3(+70%) | (2) Ikigai Star 10/3, Below par beaten 7l in a handicap hurdle over 2m3f at Market Rasen last time where found little for pressure; just 1lb above last winning mark; not proven trip; may contend if stamina holds up Won twice over 2m on good ground last year, but again this sort of trip begs a question. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/4 -4%)Doc Mccoy |
5/4(-4%) | (1) Doc Mccoy 5/4, Well backed when landing a handicap by 1 1/2l off 103 at Fakenham last time where got first run; only 2lb higher here; could follow up Made a successful return to hurdles at Fakenham last month; should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (5/2 +0%)Star Legend |
5/2(+0%) | (3) Star Legend 5/2, Scored by a head off 64 over 1m6f at Chelmsford three starts back; fourth beaten 3l off 66 last time where given too much to do; big player down in trip Dual hurdles winner, but this trip in a small field may not be a sufficient stamina test. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (7/1 +13%)Land Girl's Luck |
7/1(+13%) | (4) Land Girl's Luck 7/1, Not given hard time beaten 9 1/4l in a handicap hurdle over 2m at Worcester last time; suspect ride that day; longer trip a plus; significant jockey booking; contender Caught the eye of the stewards last time; interesting up in trip in returning cheekpieces. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

DOC MCCOY made it two wins from four over timber when on target at Fakenham last month and the son of Getaway, a former C&D winner, is taken to go in again off just 2lb higher. Land Girl's Luck has few miles on the clock and is likely to benefit from going back up in trip, while Ikigai Star heads the remainder.

It may be worth chancing LAND GIRL'S LUCK, who doesn't look an easy ride, but the ability is there.

1st (3) (11/10 -38%)Kilfilum Woods |
11/10(-38%) | (3) Kilfilum Woods 11/10, Won a conditions race at Flete Park by 2l last time; prolific in that sphere; fast ground suits; big chance on rules return Fair maiden hurdler/chaser who has taken well to points; respected.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/8 -10%)Coolagh Park |
11/8(-10%) | (1) Coolagh Park 11/8, Won a conditions race at Kingston Blount by 3/4l last time; soft ground an excuse on last rules run; yard does well in this sphere; go well Prolific in points and he looks the one to beat.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5/1 +69%)Dr Lockdown |
5/1(+69%) | (2) Dr Lockdown 5/1, Below par 68l third in a hunter chase at Hexham most recent run where ground too quick; point winner prior; likely to find ground too fast here Beaten 68l when third at Hexham 10 days ago; has too much to find on these terms.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Official ratings would suggest that Coolagh Park is the one to beat but, although respected, preference is for KILFILUM WOODS. The nine-year-old arrives following a brace of wins between the flags and, having gone well under Rules here previously, he looks more than capable. Dr Lockdown has plenty to find on figures and appears booked for third spot barring accidents.

Kilfilum Woods will make a bold bid for his hat-trick but marginal preference is for COOLAGH PARK.
Ths is the racecard key.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
