1st (1) (13/8 -18%)Godsend |
13/8(-18%) | (1) Godsend 13/8, Yard won this last year; has been in great form recently, winning four of his last five starts; up another 4lbs, but that shouldn't stop him going very well Progressive last term and is 4-6 in handicaps; respected on reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (9/2 +40%)Weddell Sea |
9/2(+40%) | (2) Weddell Sea 9/2, Has scored twice this year at Newcastle; struggled last time and is the outsider here In very good form on Newcastle AW this year; 0-17 in Flat turf contests. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (1/1 -10%)Toby Tops |
1/1(-10%) | (3) Toby Tops 1/1, Has won three of last four, including last time out when a bit slowly away; also a C&D winner; ought to cope with a 7lb rise and is a big danger Progressive this spring and latest win took his 2m form figures to 6111. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

TOBY TOPS has improved since being fitted with blinkers this term. The son of Siyouni made it three wins from his last four starts when on target at Ascot recently and, although 7lb higher, he's likely to have more to offer. Godsend was progressive last season and remains of interest despite the absence, while Weddell Sea looks booked for third.

The opener features an interesting clash between the progressive 4yos TOBY TOPS (narrowly preferred) and Godsend.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (8/1 +43%)Snow Berry |
8/1(+43%) | (3) Snow Berry 8/1, Slowly away and beaten 7l in a handicap over 6f at Wolverhampton last time; down in trip; has been off since January; needs to find a bit Conditions to suit and on a good mark; back from a break but there are positives. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (7/2 +13%)Banana |
7/2(+13%) | (5) Banana 7/2, Won on penultimate start and was very close to backing that up last time; didn't quite see out that trip; back to 5f today; good chance Belatedly off the mark at Bath two weeks ago; another good run back there latest; solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (14/1 -56%)Gypsy Nation |
14/1(-56%) | (10) Gypsy Nation 14/1, Maiden after 20 runs; never made the first three; looks to have a bit to do Exposed 20-race maiden; needs more for today's drop back to 5f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (6/1 +0%)Jamie Bond |
6/1(+0%) | (2) Jamie Bond 6/1, Had no chance last time, never got a run; his run two starts back was alright, but he would need better than penultimate start to win this Met all sorts of trouble at Catterick last week; this could be run to suit; each-way shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (17/2 -89%)Stroxx |
17/2(-89%) | (6) Stroxx 17/2, Put in a below par effort on penultimate start (jockey said he didn't travel); back to form last time when slightly hampered; high on the list Two wins this year and last week's Catterick second was a good run; solid contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (28/1 -12%)Dunnington Lad |
28/1(-12%) | (7) Dunnington Lad 28/1, Out of sorts this year; has a fair bit to find Two Ripon wins last year; dangerous mark but yet to fire this year; tongue-tie returns. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (10/3 +39%)Antiphon |
10/3(+39%) | (1) Antiphon 10/3, Generally out of form, including last time when down the field (slightly hampered); needs a revival Thrown in on last summer's form; down in grade and can't be discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (12/1 -50%)Marcus |
12/1(-50%) | (9) Marcus 12/1, Still a maiden after 17 runs; may have needed it last time; can play a part Exposed maiden but travelled quite nicely after break at Southwell 19 days ago; e-w shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (11/1 -57%)Tilsworth Ony Ta |
11/1(-57%) | (8) Tilsworth Ony Ta 11/1, Back to form last time when behind Banana; was a little slowly away; can challenge Five-time winner; knocking at the door this year but finished behind Banana last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

It took 48 attempts for BANANA to open her account, but she proved there was no fluke about that performance when beaten a neck next time out. Scott Dixon's charge is clearly thriving at present and in a contest lacking depth, she could double her tally. Marcus shaped with promise when returning from an absence at Southwell recently and the booking of David Egan catches the eye. Others to note include Tilsworth Ony Ta and Masterclass.

Jamie Bond and Antiphon are on the shortist but SNOW BERRY goes well here and returns from a short break on a dangerous mark.

1st (4) (1/1 +50%)Hymnbook |
1/1(+50%) | (4) Hymnbook 1/1, A little keen early, but improved last time on turf debut; looks a leading player Heading in the right direction; solid second at Wetherby most recently; respected. |

1/1(+67%) | (3) High Degree 1/1, Too Darn Hot colt; half-brother to Technical Analysis (high-class over 8-9f, including G2 winner) and Shamardal Star (fair at 7f); dam 8-10f winner and related to four winners; interesting newcomer Too Darn Hot colt; Irish Derby entry; major yard; interesting newcomer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (14/1 +13%)Displaying |
14/1(+13%) | (2) Displaying 14/1, Probably needed it when third on most recent start; that was better than his debut; others have better claims Modest third at Windsor on reappearance but could take another step forward. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (66/1 +0%)Zaramara |
66/1(+0%) | (8) Zaramara 66/1, 11l fourth in a novice over 7f at Yarmouth first-time out; can improve for that experience, but will need to Showed some ability at Yarmouth and shaped as if this longer trip will suit. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

All of these are open to further improvement so can't be written off, although preference is for HYMNBOOK. The Acclamation colt pulled well clear with the winner when going down a short head at Wetherby last time out and any further progress ought to suffice. King's Charter fetched 650,000 euros as a yearling and has time to do better as a three-year-old, while others to note include debutant High Degree and Displaying.

The biggest form contenders are King's Charter and HYMNBOOK. The latter has the benefit of recent match practice.

1st (1) (4/1 +0%)Ciara Pearl |
4/1(+0%) | (1) Ciara Pearl 4/1, Keen last time in the Nottinghamshire Oaks (Listed) here last time; this might not be her ideal ground; right back down in class; not completely out of it On a career-high mark but was successful in most recent attempt in a fillies' handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (11/1 -47%)Bowerchalke |
11/1(-47%) | (5) Bowerchalke 11/1, Progressed to win in November; likely needed it last time and isn't out of it; up in trip Won her final start in 2yo maidens; seemed to need reappearance run; may do better still. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (12/1 -100%)Castro Aurum |
12/1(-100%) | (6) Castro Aurum 12/1, Pretty consistent to date; won a maiden last time and should continue to be competitive; up in trip which shouldn't be an issue; shortlist Took well to first-time cheekpieces in Bath maiden on reappearance; may build on that win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (7/1 +7%)Mrs Twig |
7/1(+7%) | (2) Mrs Twig 7/1, Had a good season last year, winning four times; ended with a disappointing last in a Listed race; off since November; claims if ready to go today Seasonal debutante; record of 4-8 last term included a reappearance win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (7/4 +42%)Manara |
7/4(+42%) | (3) Manara 7/4, Has been very productive since switched to handicaps, winning three (AW) and second in last two (turf); can continue to progress and looks the one they have to beat Has form figures of 11122 since handicapping, running well at Brighton most recently. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

MRS TWIG won four times last year, including her seasonal debut, and is taken to continue that good progress on her return. A winner over this distance at Newmarket in September, a 4lb higher mark is unlikely to prevent another bold bid. A recent maiden winner at Bath, this extra yardage may bring about further progress from Castro Aurum, while North Star also looks the type to do better now handicapping for the first time.

Preference is for MANARA, who has steadily progressive RPRs since switched to handicaps. North Star is second choice.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (5/1 -82%)Native Spirit |
5/1(-82%) | (6) Native Spirit 5/1, 200,000gns Ghaiyyath colt; dam an 8.5f winner and a half-sister to seven winners, including 11f Listed winner Lava Flow and Strobilus (7/8f winner and G1 second); trainer in form; interesting 200,000gns yearling; by Ghaiyyath out of a 1m winner for his connections; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (22/1 -120%)Tenability |
22/1(-120%) | (8) Tenability 22/1, Frankel gelding; half-brother to Tiaraqueen (7f winner); dam a 7/8f winning sister to Penkenna Princess (7f Listed/G3 winner) and the useful 5f winner Mystery Ocean as well as another five winners Frankel half-brother to a 7f winner; one of two newcomers in the field; market helpful. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (250/1 -25%)Elzour |
250/1(-25%) | (1) Elzour 250/1, A long way behind on both starts (one NHF and one flat); a lot of work to do Has achieved nothing in bumper and 7f AW maiden. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (200/1 +0%)My Mate Charlie |
200/1(+0%) | (2) My Mate Charlie 200/1, Yet to show any real signs of ability in two starts (NHF and flat); returning from long layoff; tongue-tie first time; up in trip; plenty to find Failed to beat a rival in bumper and Flat event for Julia Feilden. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

DESERT SHADOW took a big step forward when finishing a creditable second at Chelmsford. That was his first start over 1m2f and the son of Siyouni should have more to offer over middle-distances. The latter comment also applies to Serenity Blue, who was doing his best work at the finish when fifth at Leicester, while the 200,000gns newcomer Native Spirit should be noted with Charlie Appleby's yard in such fine form.

Despite a couple of short-priced defeats, another chance is given to ONLY ONE BLUE. Second choice is Desert Shadow.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (10/3 +17%)Zarathos |
10/3(+17%) | (2) Zarathos 10/3, Has been consistent this year without winning; not the clearest run last time; ran a good second over C&D on penultimate start; chance Six-race maiden; proving consistent; went close over C&D two starts ago; solid chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (11/1 -57%)War Howl |
11/1(-57%) | (3) War Howl 11/1, Ran well on stable debut in March; every chance he can remain competitive; top jockey on board Ran encouragingly at Newcastle on debut for new connections; should build on that effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (16/1 -33%)Darn Hot Mystery |
16/1(-33%) | (8) Darn Hot Mystery 16/1, A bit disappointing last time having been well-backed; needs to take a step forward from that on handicap debut Open to progress but market may prove best guide; lacks 2025 practice, unlike her rivals. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

MAN OF LA MANCHA returned the convincing winner at Windsor on his handicap debut last week. A 6lb penalty is negated by an apprentice's allowance and Ralph Beckett's charge can go in again before the handicapper has his say. Zarathos has been threatening to open his account and was beaten only a head when third at Doncaster last month, while Windsor runner-up Herculeus represents last year's winning trainer and is also noted.

He's in a stronger-looking race for the grade this time but MAN OF LA MANCHA (nap) is still preferred. Zarathos is second pick.
Ths is the racecard key.
