6/1(+0%)
(10) Dominic's Fault 6/1, Well-bred, rangy sort who overcame a lengthy absence to land a 6-runner novice at Leicester (2m, heavy) in January. Travelled well long way before fading into third at Lingfield 5 weeks later. Given a bit of time since and open to progress now switching to a handicap. Tongue tied first time.
Novice winner; goes handicapping with very low mileage and a tongue-tie is added.

13:30 Perth Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

MACK THE MAN arrested a slump in form when runner-up at Ayr and then built on that by going one position better at Musselburgh. An 8lb rise still leaves him well treated compared to the pick of his efforts and he actually drops in grade now. Polisud very nearly completed a Newcastle brace, and Rascal also arrives on the back of a pleasing second place. Lively Citizen outran big odds to make the frame at Aintree's Grand National meeting and competes here off the same mark.

A competitive handicap to open the card. DOMINIC'S FAULT travels like one who could be well treated off an opening mark of 107 and is given a chance to prove it with a tongue tie added. Rascal and Old Gregorian have similarly unexposed profiles to the selection, while Mack The Man and Lively Citizen have a lot more miles on the clock but arrive in good form.

The 5yo OLD GREGORIAN is a lightly raced handicap debutant and he has plenty of potential off this low a mark.

14:05 Perth Handicap Chase (Class 3) 31f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Tom Cody had Breeze Of Wind back in fourth when victorious at Carlisle, although his rival is 3lb better off and more proven at this sort of stamina-sapping trip thanks to his success over 4m at Hexham last month. DUKE OF DECEPTION should have no problem staying either, having occupied the runner-up berth in the North Wales National at Bangor, and he followed that up with a decisive triumph at Haydock. There should be more to come. Bretney failed to fire at Cheltenham last week but can't be written off just yet, and Eider second Prince Des Fichaux is right in this too.

BREEZE OF WIND is highly progressive and shaped much better than the result having made mistakes at Carlisle last time, so he's a solid choice to get back to winning ways. Duke of Deception arrives on the back of a career best when scoring at Haydock and his stable is flying, so he's an obvious danger, while Haute Estime is one to note from a lenient mark.

Duke Of Deception is solid but HAUTE ESTIME (nap) wasn't far behind him at Bangor and the mare is now better off at the weights.

14:40 Perth Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

STOKE THE FIRE is likely to go off a very short price, and for good reason, because he has displayed a good level of form since going jumping. The five-year-old started off with a bloodless Tramore success, followed by a third in Grade 3 company, and although his latest Naas fourth wasn't quite what was expected, he should still have enough quality to help Willie Mullins towards his first UK trainers' title. Tommys Law was just denied at Ayr and could be booked for second again, unless Bellslea takes a big step forward for the switch to this discipline.

STOKE THE FIRE wasn't beaten far in a stronger novice than this at Naas last time and he looks set to make a small contribution to Willie Mullins' bid for the British jumps trainers' championship. Tommys Law took a step forward when going close at Ayr and he is clear second choice ahead of Uncle Mac.

The Willie Mullins-trained STOKE THE FIRE has run well in some warm novice hurdles in Ireland and this could be a good opportunity.

15:15 Perth Handicap Chase (Class 3) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

The hat-trick seeking Artic Row is sure to prove popular having completed a double at Ayr last month. However, a 9lb rise in the handicap for that success could be enough to prevent Nick Alexander's gelding from following up, with BUSTY BOY making most appeal. The son of Ivawood hasn't been seen to best effect since dropping in trip and this stiffer test of stamina could be just what the doctor ordered. Jacks Parrot and Gold Emery also warrant a second look.

It's difficult to ascertain what exactly JACKS PARROT achieved when thumping his two rivals at Uttoxeter earlier in the month, but he jumped much better than he had on British debut, so he's chanced to come out on top in a much more competitive contest. Second choice is Artic Row, who made it three wins in as many completed starts over fences in a manner that suggests he's yet to show all he can at Ayr 7 weeks ago, with So They Say and Gold Emery taken to fight out third.

Nick Alexander's ARTIC ROW is a progressive chaser who might be better again over this longer distance and he can keep his run going.

15:50 Perth Handicap Chase (Class 3) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

A switch to more forceful tactics saw a much improved display from last month's Carlisle scorer GERYVILLE. The eight-year-old looks more than capable of defying a 7lb rise in the ratings judged on that performance and he's taken to complete a double. African Dance clearly hasn't been the easiest to train, but he isn't taken lightly in his hat-trick bid after a 444-day absence. His stablemate Chasing Fire also has the form to feature.

AFRICAN DANCE has clearly had his share of problems but he's looked pretty talented when making the track and given he's won after 15 months off in the past, this latest absence isn't a major worry. Readysteadybeau won this race last year and is a threat, as is Chasing Fire, a stablemate of the selection, if his stamina holds.

It's been a long time between drinks for MAROWN but he was third in this two years ago and has been knocking on the door.

(6) Master Bricklayer 14/1, Sent handicapping over a longer trip, got back on track when second of 12 at Ayr (20.4f, good to soft) in March, though again showed an awkward side. Task is now to be able to build on his latest effort.
Nice first race in handicaps when staying on well from an unpromising position at Ayr.

(10) River Ayr 22/1, Runner-up in an Ayr bumper on debut and improved on his first 2 starts in maiden hurdles when fifth of 11 at Sedgefield (16.8f, heavy) in February. Failed to repeat that effort in handicap at Ayr last time, but he should be suited by this longer trip.
Didn't look well treated for his handicap debut at Ayr and was never dangerous.

(13) Maura Jeanne 28/1, Remains a maiden but was showing better signs for her current yard when last seen, still having plenty to do 3 out when third of 7 at Kelso (25.8f, good to firm) on her final outing last May. Mark has eased further ahead of her return from 11 months off.
Running well during the opening half of last year but off since and still a maiden.

(2) Bitsnbuckles 7/1, Upped in trip for his handicap debut, took a step forward when getting off the mark in 11-runner event at Huntingdon (19.6f, soft) in January, scoring with a bit in hand. Possibly found testing conditions against him next time, so he's not one to write off.
Looked progressive at Huntingdon and heavy ground likely to blame for latest blip.

Quiet in three British runs (none handicaps) but interesting on the pick of his Irish form.

16:25 Perth Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

PLAISIR DES FLOS has been well placed by Fergal O'Brien having made it a treble at Ayr last Friday in a conditional/amateur riders' event. With him being turned out quickly and some 13lb well-in, when factoring Jack Hogan's claim, the five-year-old is expected to be a tough nut to crack. Master Bricklayer is expected to have more to offer following his second at Ayr last month, while Goguenard could bounce back after his below-par effort at Chepstow.

PLAISIR DES FLOS has thrived since sent handicapping, scoring in impressive style at Ayr last week, and without a penalty for that he can go on to land the 4-timer. Gustoso got off the mark in first-time cheekpieces on his latest outing and could be the biggest threat, with the progressive Tommy Combats completing the shortlist.

Plenty with chances but PLAISIR DES FLOS is clearly ahead of the game after winning comfortably off this mark last week at Ayr.

17:00 Perth NH Flat Race (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

KOW BOY SIVOLA makes plenty of appeal on his racecourse bow travelling over from Ireland and the four-year-old, who is a full-brother to the dual Game Spirit winner Funambule Sivola, may take advantage of a contest which lacks depth. Caughtinyourtrance wasn't disgraced when third at Wetherby on his first start under Rules and he is capable of being in the mix. Dangerous Touch and Lost Frequencies are others to note.

CAUGHTINYOURTRANCE made a promising start at Wetherby and gets the vote with improvement likely. Takt de Touques and Lord Fortescue head up a host of interesting newcomers.

Moon Phases is interesting but CAUGHTINYOURTRANCE is marginally preferred after chasing home respected opposition at Wetherby.
