1st (8) (5/2 -11%)Pure Steel |
5/2(-11%) | (8) Pure Steel 5/2, Improved on hurdle form on chase debut when needing the run, finishing 12l third in a Naas beginners' chase last time. Top jockey back on board; effective over 2m and handles cut; hurdles form franked and should stay further. Point/hurdles winner, good chance in this company if building on a long-priced Naas third. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (10/1 -67%)Coral River |
10/1(-67%) | (5) Coral River 10/1, Returned to form down in grade on chase debut when 3l third in a novice chase here on latest start. Effective over 2m and may prefer some cut in the ground; needs to build on that initial chase effort Hurdle winner for Tom Mullins, ran well if not quite to market expectations on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (5/4 +55%)Its Bilbo |
5/4(+55%) | (9) Its Bilbo 5/4, Ran to form but flattened out late after a break on chase debut when fourth beaten 19l in a Navan beginners' chase. Effective over 2m and acts on heavy and yielding ground. Progressive over hurdles and should improve from that run. Winner and Grade 2-placed juvenile hurdler, made a solid debut over fences at Navan. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (13/2 -30%)Chance Another One |
13/2(-30%) | (1) Chance Another One 13/2, Won readily on handicap debut when taking a Kempton handicap chase by 4 1/4l last time. Trainer in form; effective over 2 3/4–3m on good ground. Progressive type who should have more to offer as a staying chaser but conditions a worry. Has won both starts over fences, essentially a staying type, this trip could find him out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (14/1 +13%)Anotherway |
14/1(+13%) | (3) Anotherway 14/1, Needed the run on chase debut and made too much use of when comfortably held in a Navan beginners' chase last time. Effective over 2m and acts with cut; inconsistent but has experience and looks one for handicaps. Hurdle winner for Willie Mullins, yet to shine for this stable, others are more appealing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (9/1 +0%)Harvard Guy |
9/1(+0%) | (7) Harvard Guy 9/1, Travelled well and wasn't given a hard time back from a layoff on chase debut when comfortably held in a Navan beginners' chase. Effective over 2 1/2–3m and handles cut; progressive hurdler last year who can improve over fences. Progressive handicap hurdler two seasons ago, was entitled to need his recent chase bow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (22/1 -38%)Choccabloc |
22/1(-38%) | (4) Choccabloc 22/1, Well treated on novice form, ran to form when just out-battled late by a race-fit rival, finishing second beaten 2l in a Taunton handicap hurdle. Returns from a long layoff; tongue-tie on first time; needs to improve on chase debut over sharp enough trip. Fair 128-rated hurdler for Nicky Henderson, tongue-tie fitted for Irish/ chasing debut. |

PURE STEEL was well held in third on his chase bow at Naas, but it was still a good effort considering he went off at 33/1 and, entitled to have improved for the run, the five-year-old will be wiser and might take a bit of beating. He's a point-to-point/hurdles winner and is taken to get the better of Its Bilbo, who finished fourth at Navan but doesn't face anything of Kopek Des Bordes' quality in here. Of the others, keep an eye on Harvard Guy and Anotherway.

With the help of an age allowance, course maiden hurdle winenr ITS BILBO gets the vote to build a satisfactory chasing debut at Navan

Effective over 2–2¾m; trainer in form and much more to come over fences for top connections; a likely type. Second to a 141-rated hurdler at Thurles, the age-allowance gives him a fighting chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5/1 -25%)Ballygunner Castle |
5/1(-25%) | (3) Ballygunner Castle 5/1, Below form when down the field in a Listed Novices' Hurdle at Perth last time but had been in good form previously. Top jockey back on board for a yard that has won the last two runnings; in the mix on chase debut. Of similar ability to Argento Boy over hurdles, Paul Townend's choice may influence market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (6/1 -33%)Butch Cassidy |
6/1(-33%) | (4) Butch Cassidy 6/1, Promising chase debut back from a break when fourth, beaten 29l, behind a classy rival in a beginners chase at Navan. Effective at around 2½m; the form looks strong and he may stay 3m in time. Course maiden hurdle winner, fair chasing debut when fourth behind a potential star. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (18/1 +55%)Western Walk |
18/1(+55%) | (10) Western Walk 18/1, Unseated rider in a beginners chase at Navan last time. Effective around 2½m but has been inconsistent since a layoff. Both wins over hurdles were in early-2023, unseated at the second on belated chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (12/1 0%)Prophet's Corner |
12/1(0%) | (9) Prophet's Corner 12/1, Returned to form with a big effort having done plenty early when second, beaten 3/4l, in a handicap hurdle at Clonmel last time. Still has a bit to find. Four wins in points, course hurdles winner, fell on chase debut at Listowel;. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (40/1 +0%)Autoportrait |
40/1(+0%) | (2) Autoportrait 40/1, Needed the run on chase debut when comfortably held in a beginners chase at Cork last time. Effective over 2–2½m and suited by plenty of cut; may do better chasing. Consistent sort over hurdles, needs to improve considerably from his chase debut at Cork. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (11/2 +45%)Port Joulain |
11/2(+45%) | (8) Port Joulain 11/2, Far too free when stepped up in trip and failed to stay, finishing down the field in the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1) at Cheltenham. Had been in good form before but returns from a long layoff and needs plenty more. Doesn't look stable first string on chase debut. Course maiden hurdle winner, down the field in the Albert Bartlett, should make a chaser. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) (3/1 +25%)Argento Boy |
3/1(+25%) | (1) Argento Boy 3/1, Ran to form when comfortably held in the Channor Real Estate Group Novice Hurdle (Grade 1) here last time. Prefers some give and represents a yard that has won the last two runnings; major player down in grade on chase debut One of four for Willie Mullins, ran in three Grade 1s after course maiden hurdle win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (6) (40/1 -60%)Fishery Lane |
40/1(-60%) | (6) Fishery Lane 40/1, Returned to form down in grade on chase debut but was well beaten in a beginners chase at Thurles last time. Effective at 2½m and capable of further progress over fences, though the yard holds stronger claims. Made little impact on first start over fences, trainer has three stronger candidates. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (20/1 +9%)Da Capo Glory |
20/1(+9%) | (5) Da Capo Glory 20/1, Fell in a handicap hurdle at Galway last time; useful handicap hurdler; may just need this on chase debut. Useful three-time hurdles winner, early faller at Galway on first run after a long layoff. |

KURASSO BLUE makes plenty of appeal. Representing the in-form Gordon Elliott yard, the dual hurdles winner made a chase debut full of promise when second at Thurles on his seasonal bow and can only improve for the experience. Port Joulain was deemed good enough for the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham in March and, although he was never really involved that day, he's still a nice prospect and is respected on his fencing introduction for leading connections. Ballygunner Castle is noted too.

Willie Mullins has won the last two editions of this race with smart types. BALLYGUNNER CASTLE is the most appealing of his quartet

1st (19) (2/1 +43%)Zanoosh |
2/1(+43%) | (19) Zanoosh 2/1, Ran to form when third, beaten 3l in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse most recent run. Effective from 2m to 2m4f and acts on soft and good ground. Could play a role. Bumper winner at Fairyhouse, staying-on maiden hurdle third at the same venue offers hope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (5/4 -50%)Fillyoureye |
5/4(-50%) | (6) Fillyoureye 5/4, Very promising debut when second, beaten 8l in a maiden hurdle at Navan latest. Effective from 2m to 2½m and acts on any ground. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (50/1 0%)Frankie's Freebie |
50/1(0%) | (7) Frankie's Freebie 50/1, Improved when winning a maiden at Tattersalls Farm by 2½l last time but faces a much tougher task here. Point winner, has joined Adrian Sexton who won three races with his half-sister Katherine. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (10/1 +50%)Pookie Holler |
10/1(+50%) | (11) Pookie Holler 10/1, Promising debut though well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Naas latest. Returning from a long layoff and effective around 2½m. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (13) (40/1 -82%)Shabby Hill |
40/1(-82%) | (13) Shabby Hill 40/1, Promising debut, a neck winner in a maiden at Lingstown on debut. Absent for a very lengthy period and difficult to fancy on rules debut. Dam bumper winner, E50,000 purchase in April 2024 after a point win for Tom Dreaper. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (15) (15/2 +6%)Whatsanotheryear |
15/2(+6%) | (15) Whatsanotheryear 15/2, Ran to form when fourth, beaten 16l in a maiden hurdle at Cork latest. Effective up to 2m4f and should remain competitive. Some merit in his two runs over 2m last month, this longer trip should help his cause. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (9/1 -20%)American Jukebox |
9/1(-20%) | (1) American Jukebox 9/1, Below form when comfortably held in a bumper at Naas last time. Had been in good form beforehand and the trainer is in good order. Returning from a long layoff and has a bit to find. Best of three bumper runs when second over 2m4f at Leopardstown, stable in superb form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (80/1 0%)Rough 'n' Smooth |
80/1(0%) | (12) Rough 'n' Smooth 80/1, Conduit gelding. Bred to handle some cut but yard quiet just now; best watched. Dam unraced half-sister to a bumper winner, family of National winner Rhyme 'N' Reason. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (150/1 -88%)Any Chance |
150/1(-88%) | (2) Any Chance 150/1, Arctic Cosmos gelding; full-brother to Lilly Banner, who was moderate over 18f. Yard quiet just now; best watched Dam failed to complete in five points, sister to a point winner, not a likely contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (150/1 -50%)Masons Apron |
150/1(-50%) | (10) Masons Apron 150/1, 62,000 euros Jukebox Jury gelding; half-brother to Seaside Legend, moderate over 16f. Dam unraced half-sister to a German 1m3f Group 2 winner, stout German Flat pedigree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (18) (250/1 -67%)Thecouncillorswife |
250/1(-67%) | (18) Thecouncillorswife 250/1, Too keen and poor debut when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Gowran Park most recently. Best watched for now. Made the frame on both starts in points, no impression on hurdling debut at Gowran. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (4) (200/1 -100%)Crowe Street |
200/1(-100%) | (4) Crowe Street 200/1, Poor debut when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Clonmel on only start. Yet to encounter suitable conditions and likely to need more time. Will need more experience on the evidence of last month's debut at Clonmel. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (17) (250/1 -100%)Peppers Corner |
250/1(-100%) | (17) Peppers Corner 250/1, Never threatened and looked in need of a stiffer test when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Navan most recently. A 3m point winner who should appreciate a longer trip but has plenty to find. Point winner in April, never counted on hurdling debut at Navan last Saturday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

7/1(+13%) | (8) Hens Tooth 7/1, Ran to form but got racing fairly early when comfortably held in a bumper at Fairyhouse last time. Absent for a very lengthy period and needs more. Point/bumper winner, ran in good company after 2023 win, off for a long time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (14/1 -40%)Jackmoon |
14/1(-40%) | (9) Jackmoon 14/1, Very promising debut, possibly needed the run when second beaten 16l in a maiden hurdle at Gowran Park latest. Effective from 2m to 2½m and handles soft ground. Consistent in a short career and generally reliable. Second to a dominant front-running winner at Gowran; this looks like a stronger race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (33/1 +18%)Umpire's Call |
33/1(+18%) | (14) Umpire's Call 33/1, Jukebox Jury gelding; half-brother to Chairman Fitz, who was very useful over 20f. Dam an unraced sister to bumper/useful hurdle winner L'Accordioniste, staying pedigree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (250/1 -67%)Attanagh |
250/1(-67%) | (3) Attanagh 250/1, Modest debut, well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Navan on only start. Effective at around 2½m but has everything to prove. Big price when finishing towards the back in a 22-runner maiden at Navan last month. |

FILLYOUREYE is taken to build on a solid hurdling debut at Navan behind a useful type of Gordon Elliott's. The son of Leading Light, who scored in a Kilbeggan bumper, doesn't face a rival of that calibre here and compensation appears highly likely. American Jukebox is bred to stay well and would be a threat based on his Leopardstown second in a bumper last December. Others for the shortlist include Hens Tooth and Jackmoon.

No match for an odds-on winner at Fairyhouse on his first run over hurdles FILLYOUREYE can prove equal to this less demanding task

5/2(-11%) | (5) Echoing Silence 5/2, Improved from debut up in trip when winning a maiden hurdle at Cork by 6l last time. Effective from 2m to 2 1/2m. A point, bumper and hurdles winner whose form is franked; a big player up in class. Point/bumper winner, much too strong for Divaboriva at Cork, can continue to prosper. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (7/4 +22%)Switch From Diesel |
7/4(+22%) | (7) Switch From Diesel 7/4, Promising debut behind a more experienced rival when second beaten a length in a maiden hurdle at Navan last time. Effective at 2m and acts with cut. A winner at this level in bumpers and should be winning in this sphere soon. Very smart in bumpers, Flat winner, may find the improvement required after Navan defeat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (66/1 -100%)Carry On Heidi |
66/1(-100%) | (2) Carry On Heidi 66/1, Below form down in trip when fourth beaten 11l in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time. Effective from 2 1/2m to 3m but has been inconsistent under rules and needs this step back up in trip to suit. Won twice in points, fair form over hurdles, others have much superior credentials. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (10/3 -33%)Chosen Comrade |
10/3(-33%) | (3) Chosen Comrade 10/3, Quickened clear cosily when winning a maiden hurdle at Limerick by 4l last time. Off a short break; effective from 2m to 2 1/4m and acts on soft and good ground. A point, bumper and hurdles winner with more to come up in class. Unbeaten in a point/bumper/maiden hurdle, not an easy task against six older rivals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (12/1 +25%)Neon Diamond |
12/1(+25%) | (6) Neon Diamond 12/1, Never travelled, scoped badly, and may have found the ground too quick when fourth beaten 23l in a handicap hurdle at Downpatrick last time. Trainer in form and returning from a break. Effective from 2 1/2m to 2 3/4m but may need some give and looks vulnerable in this grade. Stable is in superb form but this one is likely to find a few too good at this level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|RR| (1) (5/1 +29%)Amen Kate |
5/1(+29%) | (1) Amen Kate 5/1, Quickened clear easily and improved from debut when winning a maiden hurdle at Galway by 8 1/2l last time. Effective at 2m and acts on soft and good ground. Latest win had knocks and more is needed up in class. Useful in bumpers, satisfactory hurdling debut before a straightforward task at Galway. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

ECHOING SILENCE was a very expensive purchase when bought for 410,000 pounds at Cheltenham in March 2024 and the daughter of Doyen was impressive back over hurdles at Cork. The manner of that performance suggested she is worth stepping up in grade and is likely to prove too strong for Switch From Diesel, who chased home Bambino Fever in the Grade 1 bumper here in April. Ross O'Sullivan's mare is entitled to improve from her hurdling bow, while the unbeaten Chosen Comrade appeals most of the remainder.

Despite having lost to an outsider on her hurdling debut, SWITCH FROM DIESEL (nap) may prove too strong for the maiden winners here

1st (1) (8/11 +55%)Espresso Milan |
8/11(+55%) | (1) Espresso Milan 8/11, The yard won this last year. Suited by the step up in trip, he improved despite being well beaten in a bumper here last time. Had been in good form beforehand but needs to find more to feature prominently. Interesting recruit for the champion trainer, shaped well in a 2m3f Punchestown bumper. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (10/3 -11%)Blue Velvet |
10/3(-11%) | (5) Blue Velvet 10/3, From the yard that won this race last year. Benefited from a drop in class and ran to form when 7 1/2l third in a mares' bumper at Naas on her latest run. Returns from a long break and looks the main danger. Kept good company in bumpers last season, helps to give Willie Mullins a strong hand here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (7/4 -46%)Newbrook Diamond |
7/4(-46%) | (2) Newbrook Diamond 7/4, Made a very promising debut when second, beaten 3l by a classy rival in a maiden hurdle at Naas last time. Trainer in fine form. Effective at 2 1/4m and proven on heavy ground. A bright prospect for a leading yard. Second to a short-priced favourite over 2m3f at Naas on hurdling debut; obvious chance now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

50/1(-52%) | (7) Fly Away Home 50/1, Wings Of Eagles mare; half-sister to Minnies Secret, useful at 18f; yard can get debut winners; of interest if money arrives. Dam won over hurdles for trainer Charles Byrnes and has produced four winners for the yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (50/1 +0%)Themorethemerrier |
50/1(+0%) | (4) Themorethemerrier 50/1, Showed little when well beaten in a maiden hurdle at Naas on debut. Yet to encounter ideal conditions and likely to need more time to develop. 50-1 when in rear on debut at Naas a month ago, likely to need more time and experience. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (100/1 -52%)Boston Breeze |
100/1(-52%) | (6) Boston Breeze 100/1, 50,000 euros Telescope mare; half-sister to Bigcitylights, useful at 24f; stable not known for debut winners. Dam bumper/hurdle/chase winner, sister to useful hurdle/chase winner Everglow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (150/1 -50%)The Cobblers Wife |
150/1(-50%) | (9) The Cobblers Wife 150/1, Showed little when well beaten in the maiden hurdle here on debut. Yet to find ideal conditions and looks one for the future. Big price when in rear in the maiden won by the smart Koktail Brut over C&D last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (150/1 -127%)Takemebacktodakota |
150/1(-127%) | (8) Takemebacktodakota 150/1, Mahler mare; half-sister to Dolly's Call, very useful at 16f; may just need this experience. Unraced dam is closely related to high-class hurdle/chase winner Total Recall. |

NEWBROOK DIAMOND ran a nice race on his track debut at Naas and can go one better now. He chased home a decent sort in Fruit De Mer last month and the front two pulled nicely clear. That recent run under his belt looks a big plus now. Paul Townend sides with Espresso Milan from the two Willie Mullins runners. He was runner-up in a Market Rasen bumper on the middle of three runs last season and is interesting on his first start for the yard. Bumper winner Blue Velvet also has to be respected. She scored at Thurles last December and is related to some useful types.

Gordon Elliott's NEWBROOK DIAMOND can benefit from the experience of a first hurdles run to account for the Mullins pair

4/1(-60%) | (1) Charlus 4/1, The yard has won the last two renewals of this race. Was far too free and below form when down the field in a Leopardstown handicap last time. Strong French flat form suggests more to come in this sphere. Top jockey returns and, after a short break, he looks the pick on race times. |PU| (8) (125/1 -89%)Victoria Kesia |
125/1(-89%) | (8) Victoria Kesia 125/1, Showed minor promise on debut when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle at Thurles last time. Effective over 2m but inconsistent on the Flat and looks vulnerable up in class. Became regressive on the level; well beaten sole hurdle start and not easy to fancy. |

This is a real puzzle and the fact that Paul Townend sides with CHARLUS looks significant. The Churchill gelding won on his hurdling debut at Naas last January before finding life a lot tougher in the Triumph Hurdle. He faced some stiff tasks during a subsequent Flat campaign and this looks like a nice spot for him back over timber now. Stablemate Plontier has a similar profile, a smart Flat horse who remains unexposed over hurdles. Jigoro didn't make much impression behind Kopek Des Bordes over fences on his return at Navan. He switches back to timber and sets the standard off his official rating of 133.

Though JIGORO hasn't been at his best on last few starts, including over fences, he is still rated 133 in this sphere and can score.

25/1(-56%) | (6) Milanaway 25/1, Ran to form when suited by a longer trip and positive ride to finish 16l third in a handicap hurdle at Limerick most recently; effective around 3m and though still a maiden, she looks to be running into form. Maiden after 18 hurdle starts but placed plenty of times; beaten 16l at Limerick last time. |

3rd (1) (12/1 -60%)Take Chance |
12/1(-60%) | (1) Take Chance 12/1, Outpaced but returned to form in first-time cheekpieces when fourth, beaten 4 1/2l, in a handicap hurdle at Down Royal last time; effective at 3m on good ground but inconsistent in a short career and needs to build on that effort. Fourth at Down Royal over this trip last time; the cheekpieces are retained; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (66/1 -100%)Difficult Decision |
66/1(-100%) | (3) Difficult Decision 66/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase at Kilbeggan last time; absent for a very lengthy period and needs to prove well-being after the break. Lost his form when last seen and can only be watched after a long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (3/1 +0%)Teds Corner |
3/1(+0%) | (5) Teds Corner 3/1, Ran to form when 12l third in a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse on latest start; effective at 2m and acts on yielding; yet to build on a promising debut but the longer trip could suit. 11/4 fav' when beaten 12l over 2m4f last time but could do better up to this trip; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (10/1 +0%)Walking In Mayo |
10/1(+0%) | (8) Walking In Mayo 10/1, Outpaced and never threatened when down the field in a maiden hurdle at Tramore last time; usually held up; effective at 3m in points and acts on soft ground; longer trip may help but has yet to prove up to this mark. Can surely do better and is worth a market check stepping up in trip on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (11/1 +45%)He Fitz In |
11/1(+45%) | (9) He Fitz In 11/1, Ran to form when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Tramore last time; stays 3m well and acts on good ground but prefers some give; inconsistent last season. Best run this year when third over fences at Sligo but not as good since; has to rebound. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (28/1 -12%)Fancy Prospect |
28/1(-12%) | (10) Fancy Prospect 28/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle at Gowran Park last time when returning from a long layoff; wears a first-time tongue-tie; effective around 2 3/4m and handles ease in the ground; consistent before latest. Pulled-up at Gowran when last seen; tongue-tie added after an absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (15) (9/1 +25%)Rideau Canal |
9/1(+25%) | (15) Rideau Canal 9/1, Outpaced but ran to form and looked to want a stiffer test when comfortably held in a handicap hurdle here last time; effective between 2 1/2m and 3m; has been in moderate form for some time. Not a bad effort over 2m4f here last time and isn't out of this if staying the trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (7/2 -5%)Cosmo Renfro |
7/2(-5%) | (2) Cosmo Renfro 7/2, Needed the run and travelled well for a long way when second, beaten 20l, in a handicap hurdle at Limerick last time; effective at 2 1/2m and acts with cut; should build on that recent revival. A remote second at Limerick last time on debut for this yard; needs more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (12/1 -9%)Fortunate Outcome |
12/1(-9%) | (12) Fortunate Outcome 12/1, Too free and needed the run when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Limerick latest; effective at around 2m2f and handles heavy ground; yet to show much overall. Well beaten on handicap debut at Limerick last time; has to improve plenty raised in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (13/2 +46%)Sarah's Express |
13/2(+46%) | (4) Sarah's Express 13/2, Ran to form but appeared to want a stiffer test when comfortably held in a maiden hurdle here last time; shows some ability around 2m and bred for further; likely improver now handicapping over a longer trip. Has to step up on form raised in trip even dropping to this grade but the market can help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (22/1 +12%)Le Grand Vert |
22/1(+12%) | (7) Le Grand Vert 22/1, Unseated rider in a handicap chase at Down Royal last time; well treated on old form and prefers some ease in the ground so very interesting off this mark. Well beaten last start in this sphere; will be suited by this ground but others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (28/1 -100%)Seventy Eight Team |
28/1(-100%) | (11) Seventy Eight Team 28/1, Below form when beaten 7 1/4l in a handicap chase at Sligo last time; returns from a short break and looks better suited by 3m than 2m. Has run well enough over fences lately; has a squeak if able to transfer that to hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (125/1 -89%)Sonny Fella |
125/1(-89%) | (13) Sonny Fella 125/1, Needed the run when down the field in a handicap hurdle at Clonmel last time; effective around 2 1/2m but out of form in recent handicaps. Maiden isn't easy to fancy after being tailed-off at Clonmel on stable debut a week ago. |

COSMO RENFRO proved no match for the well-handicapped Happy Dreams at the business end in Limerick three weeks ago after disputing for most the race with that rival. It was still an improved effort on his first outing for Gavin Cromwell, though, and he looks capable of striking off this mark. Milanaway was also placed at the same venue three weeks ago and looks like a potential danger. Teds Corner takes another step up in trip, having finished third at Fairyhouse last time, and is another that has to be considered.

A beaten favourite when beaten 12l at Fairyhouse last time over 2m4f, TEDS CORNER can recoup those losses stepped up in trip today.

Best over 3m; very well treated on old form and should be suited by staying trips. C&D winner; well beaten at Fairyhouse last time but can improve from that so a shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (10/1 +55%)Elusive Prince |
10/1(+55%) | (9) Elusive Prince 10/1, Unseated late in a Fairyhouse handicap hurdle last time when still involved. Effective between 2m and 3m; unexposed at 3m and could progress further after a recent revival. Was running a sound race when unseating two out at Fairyhouse last time; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (14) (9/2 +50%)Oogum Boogum |
9/2(+50%) | (14) Oogum Boogum 9/2, Ran to form when third, beaten 8l, in a Tramore handicap hurdle. Effective from 2m2f to 2m6f on soft or good ground; maiden running into form. Maiden has been running well in defeat over shorter this term; chance if staying the trip. |

|PU| (3) (9/1 +55%)John Storey |
9/1(+55%) | (3) John Storey 9/1, Ran to form but was comfortably held in a Fairyhouse handicap hurdle last time. Effective at 3m; inconsistent and only 1lb above last winning mark, still has a bit to prove. Mostly been below his best lately including back at Fairyhouse last time; questions. |

|PU| (1) (12/1 +64%)Arctic Piper |
12/1(+64%) | (1) Arctic Piper 12/1, No obvious excuse when well beaten in a handicap hurdle at Thurles last time. Effective at 2m, best form so far on heavy ground; needs significant improvement. Well beaten on return at Thurles and has to improve plenty raised in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (20/1 +9%)Volez Vous |
20/1(+9%) | (12) Volez Vous 20/1, Never threatened when modest on chase debut, well held in a Thurles handicap chase. Had been in good form before that; effective from 2m to 2 1/4m and handles any ground so could resume progression over hurdles. Won consecutive Clonmel h'caps last season over shorter but unproven over this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (40/1 -82%)Eagle Terrace |
40/1(-82%) | (5) Eagle Terrace 40/1, Made too much use of but ran well to a point before fading in a Downpatrick handicap chase. Returns from a short break; well handicapped on chase form and may prefer some give in the ground. Not beaten far over fences last time but was well beaten on last start over hurdles. |

LOUGH NIGARA has been knocking on the door and may be able to gain a deserved success here. The Eoin Griffin-trained gelding has been placed on his last three outings and ran well in testing conditions when chasing home Kingkong Ciergues at Fairyhouse last time. He is capable of scoring now, despite a 3lb rise. Pebble Bleu was a game winner at Tramore a fortnight ago and runs off a 4lb higher mark. She looks like an obvious danger. Sallap looked like she might follow up at Thurles on her last outing before falling at the last. Off just a 2lb higher mark she's another for the shortlist.

Having come from a fair bit back to be second at Fairyhouse lastg time over this trip, LOUGH NIGARA could go one better today.
Ths is the racecard key.
