Tolstoy not only won this race but followed up over course-and-distance on the Saturday of this corresponding fixture 12 months ago. He is highly respected in bidding for back-to-back wins. However, QUEST FOR FUN, who is also a previous C&D winner, shades preference as he runs off 10lb lower than his last winning mark. Yaaser, Mereside Diva and Little Empire are other key players in a competitive edition of this apprentice riders' showpiece.

Not disgraced in a high competitive Ascot race last time, course specialist TOLSTOY might follow up last year's win in this event.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Ollie Pears has a good record in this event and his representative, Carnation Queen (fifth), commands respect with his stable bidding to win this for the third year running. However, U TURN fared the better of the pair when they clashed at Beverley last month and built on that third-placed finish when chasing home an odds-on favourite at Musselburgh last week. Another step forward could suffice today. Redcar winner Willowinghurn and Dinamo are also appealing options.

The progressive U TURN is taken to reverse Beverley placings with Dinamo on these better terms.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

We probably haven't yet seen the best of ROGUE SENSATION and, having returned from a break with a fourth-placed finish in the Cecil Frail at Haydock last month, the daughter of Too Darn Hot appeals strongly as she drops in class for her first start in a handicap. Raneenn is another strong contender after her successful run at Doncaster, while Pelean, Lady Of Andros and Tropical Island all hold good each-way prospects.

Raneenn still looks well handicapped but EASY PEELER is taken to build on the significant promise of her reappearance.

Third to a talented sort of Karl Burke's who is fancied at Royal Ascot next week, SOCA STAR showed up well last time out at Carlisle and this represents an ideal opportunity for the daughter of Starman to get off the mark. A determined winner over further at Redcar last month, Bleep Test is a key player despite a 6lb penalty, while the well-bred Stargazed looks to be the pick of the newcomers for leading connections.

Karl Burke is again blessed with a strong team of juveniles and STARGAZED holds obvious appeal on paper.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

A well-bred sort by Lope De Vega, BURRITO always looked to be in control when holding off the reopposing Sovereign Sea (second) at Newbury last month and a 10lb rise may not get to the bottom of this four-year-old's ability. Denied by the narrowest of margins behind Liberty Coach (first) at Redcar last time out, See That Storm (second) may be able to overturn that form with a 1lb pull at the weights. Faylaq and Chester winner Paddy The Squire are capable of being in the shake-up as well.

Clearly the dark horse is Burrito and he's greatly feared, but SEE THAT STORM is also improving at a rate of knots.

The winning run of LUNA A INBHIR NIS has to come to an end sometime, but a 6lb penalty may not be enough to stop her after she made it three in a row when winning by a length at Musselburgh after a well-timed run. Beaujolais Nouveau goes up 2lb for future races after her Thirsk second and, with Archie Young claiming 5lb, she looks a huge danger, followed by Yarmouth winner Forager from the one stall.

Rapid improver LUNA A INBHIR NIS (nap) can defy a penalty for last week's cosy Musselburgh win. Beaujolais Nouveau is feared most.

It's A Love Thing has been wonderfully consistent with seven top three finishes in a row, including wins at Wolverhampton and Pontefract and a third over hurdles at Aintree. She could be the biggest danger to GINCIDENT, a gutsy winner at Lingfield in a first-time tongue-tie last month who races off just 2lb higher for a stable in good form. Molinari is one who could surprise a few if the eight-year-old can be brought back to his best.

Plenty have chances but last year's runner-up POL ROGER gets the vote ahead of the progressive 4yo Candonomore.
Ths is the racecard key.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
