Jonjo O'Neill landed the corresponding event 12 months ago and he might repeat the dose with BROOK BAY. A winner between the flags in November last year, he failed to live up to market expectations when down the field on his Rules debut. The fact he was well supported suggests he's worth another chance and the switch to hurdles looks an added bonus. Asta La Pasta bolted up in a Market Rasen bumper in February and he merits respect now sent over timber. Borodale is also noted.
The market could prove the best indicator here but ASTA LA PASTA was a decisive winner of a Market Rasen bumper last term and gets the nod on his hurdling debut. King William Rufus and Nordic Tiger are also of interest.
King William Rufus has the best form in bumpers but ASTA LA PASTA impressed in his second Market Rasen bumper.

AUTUMN RETURN progressed well during her first hurdling campaign and signed off with a good success at Perth. She returns to the fray off just a 3lb higher figure and can take full advantage. There is plenty in the way of opposition, though, with the four-year-old Bois Guillbert heading the list on his handicap debut. Scots Poet held his form well back in the spring, with Faithfulflyer and Chase A Fortune a couple more to consider.
Plenty with claims here including SCOTS POET, who looked unlucky not to score at Perth in May and has won after a break before. Bois Guillbert and Hidalgo de L'isle are feared most.
(2) Booster Bob 5/6, Bit disappointing at Wetherby in April but had made a winning NH debut in Ayr bumper previously and remains with potential now sent hurdling. Hooded for first time. Won at Ayr (soft) in February; not so good in another bumper in April; still one to note.

Ayr bumper winner Booster Bob sports a first-time hood ahead of his reappearance and he appeals as the type to thrive over timber this season, but a chance can be taken on ALRIGHT DAI. Neil Mulholland's gelding lost his race before it had started, having boiled over in the preliminaries at Worcester last month. Market support would suggest better was expected, however, and an improved showing would come as no surprise. Passengerontheship heads the remainder.
Preference is for BOOSTER BOB, who won first time up in a bumper last term and hails from a yard in fine form. Delgany Bobby Blue and Duhallow Tommy can also make their presence felt.
Alright Dai and Delgany Bobby Blue are likely players but BOOSTER BOB may be the most interesting candidate.

Interesting what the market makes of him now hurdling on return/following wind surgery. Second in two bumpers; others have stronger form but improvement possible now over hurdles.

Related to two hurdles winners in France, Lucinda Russell's gelding should be ready to go on his debut over timber and a bold showing can be expected. Irish raiders Dutch Schultz and Duleek Street are feared most, although Slugger is another notable hurdles debutant returning after wind surgery.
ESPRIT DU POTIER went the right way in bumpers last term, successful twice at Ayr prior to a solid sixth in an Aintree Grade 2 on his final start in April. Appealing as the type to make his mark in this sphere, he could be worth siding with to come out on top with his yard in good form. Last-time-out winners Dutch Schultz and Duleek Street head up the dangers.

Down the field in last year's Supreme and didn't seem to relish step up to 20f back at Cheltenham final outing in April. Remains a good prospect for chasing this campaign. Put in his place last two runs as novice hurdler; should still bring plenty of potential.

Never figured at Grade 1 level after but major claims now sent chasing with yard very much amongst the winners. Much the best form in this field; easily his two best runs last term were on good ground.

With upwards of 19lb in hand on his mark over timber, Nigel Twiston-Davies would appear to have found the ideal opportunity for classy hurdler I LIKE TO MOVE IT. The son of Trans Island is bred to appreciate this switch to the larger obstacles and, granted a clean round of jumping, he should be hard to beat. Pembroke was far from disgraced in a Grade 1 at Aintree when last seen and could give the selection most to think about. Chasing Fire looks booked for third.
I LIKE TO MOVE IT was easily the best of these over hurdles, and retuning with his yard having hit the ground running, he's expected to prove tough to beat now his attentions switch to the larger obstacles. Pembroke may emerge as the chief threat.
The ground might not be ideal if it remains soft, and that is a concern, but I LIKE TO MOVE IT has easily the best hurdles form.
(3) Brandy McQueen 5/1, Has thrived in staying handicap hurdles last term, gaining fourth success at Musselburgh in February. Down the field off revised mark since. Makes chase debut. Progressive hurdler last season; can make a bold bid if taking to fences at first attempt.

INIS OIRR made good progress over hurdles last season and looks the one to be with now that he switches to fences for the first time under Rules. Brandy Mcqueen doesn't have much to find with the selection based on his form over timber and looks the chief danger with his stamina proven. Donny Boy's previous chase form is just ordinary, so Swallows Song completes the shortlist on his first start back after wind surgery.
INIS OIRR did well on his debut season over hurdles and remains capable of better now going chasing. Donny Boy is worth another go in this sphere so is next best.

Dan Skelton landed this prize in 2020 with Midnight River and he saddles an interesting runner in the shape of GOONHILLY. The five-year-old showed a fair amount of promise in a couple of bumpers last season when finishing second at Hereford for Tom Weston before joining his new connections. Fourth in a bumper here on Midlands National day, the form has already taken a boost, with the runner-up placing in the Grade 2 bumper at Aintree, and stepping up in trip on his hurdles bow may also bring out some improvement. Itsnoteasy cost 100,000 pounds following his point-to-point success in May and has to enter calculations along with Yes Day.
ITSNOTEASY fetched £100,000 after winning an Irish point and has been found a winnable maiden on debut. Emotional Memories sets the standard after a strong-finishing third over C&D last month so rates the main threat, while Goonhilly and Yes Day both showed ability in bumpers.

However, there are some classier operators on show here, with the Grade 2 winner TOMMY'S OSCAR making most appeal. The Ann Hamilton-trained gelding is still relatively unexposed in this discipline and could take this contest en route to better things. The returning Malystic enjoyed a fruitful campaign last season and is a viable alternative.
TOMMY'S OSCAR starts the campaign on a fair mark judged on his Grade 2 win at Doncaster so can make a winning return for a second consecutive season. Likeable pair Malystic and Dubai Days are obvious threats.
The highly admirable MALYSTIC (nap) won three times last season and earns the vote on his return. Tommy's Oscar is feared most.

His penultimate effort over hurdles saw him finish second at Kempton off a 6lb higher rating and a repeat of that display would make him hard to beat. Hurricane Harvey won twice last season, including over C&D in December, and ended his campaign when runner-up at Cheltenham to an improving type. He is likely to go well, while Gentleman At Arms has dropped to an attractive mark.
HURRICANE HARVEY wasted no time getting back to form when runner-up at Cheltenham in April and he can pick up where he left off to land a third success at this venue. The main danger could be West To The Bridge, who finished second in this race back in 2020, ahead of The Bomber Liston.

He followed that effort up with a solid third at Haydock and the six-year-old gets the vote ahead of General Medrano, who was last seen finishing fourth in a valuable contest at Sandown in April. Only Money didn't get very far when stumbling and unseating his rider at Plumpton, but he appeals most of the remainder.
ONLY MONEY has hinted at a return to form and is worth another chance off his reduced mark having got no further than the first at Plumpton 2 weeks ago. Bubble Dubi and General Medrano will both make chasers so need considering, too.

However, the Sageburg gelding has been hit hard by the handicapper and may be worth taking on now 11lb higher in the ratings. HALF SHOT appeared a non-stayer in the Scottish Grand National at Ayr in April and the nine-year-old has the most compelling claims now cutting back in distance. Destiny Is All also warrants consideration on his best form last season.
DO NO WRONG proved better than ever when scoring at Uttoxeter last time and makes plenty of appeal in his hat-trick bid with Brian Hughes up. Half Shot and Destiny Is All rate the principal dangers.

However, it could pay to take a chance on returning track-and-trip victor HENRY BOX BROWN. The six-year-old relishes underfoot conditions and arrives here on his last winning mark, while handicap debutant Fever Dream could have a say too.
A big-field handicap with a wide-open feel and with that in mind a chance is taken on C&D winner HENRY BOX BROWN. Below his best when last seen in the spring, he returns with his yard amongst the winners and, operating from his last winning mark, he could represent a spot of value. Moonshine Spirit, Rock On Tommy and Fever Dream head the dangers, whilst Hammer Dan is also worth monitoring in the betting for positive vibes on handicap bow.

This can go the way of DIANA PRINCE, who brings arguably the best recent form having finished a promising second at Worcester last month. The step up in trip on this occasion is a big plus and she may have too much for the likes of Hexham runner-up Lewa House and Kilbrainy, who remains a maiden through 13 starts but has been running with plenty of credit on his most recent outings.
KILBRAINY ran up to his best when second at Hexham in June and, although not quite in the same form next time, he could be ready to open his account as he drops back down in grade returned to this longer trip. Diana Prince has shown improved form since switched to handicaps and is feared most, ahead of Summergrounds.
