|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (33/1 -136%)Beggarman |
33/1(-136%) | (9) Beggarman 33/1, Won by 1/2l off 61 at Ffos Las in July but didn't seem to act on heavy ground last time. Effective over 14f to 16f, handles all but heavy going and has since lost form. Won twice in small fields at Ffos Las (1m6f/2m) this summer but not so hot since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/2 +36%)Yellow Star |
9/2(+36%) | (4) Yellow Star 9/2, Still disputing and every chance when coming down in a handicap hurdle at Sandown last time. Flat form from 2023 is hard to evaluate and he returns from a long layoff. Off since a January fall and his only four Flat races (fair form first two) were in 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (28/1 -75%)Capone |
28/1(-75%) | (8) Capone 28/1, Didn't act on heavy when comfortably held in a handicap at Ffos Las last time. Effective between 14f and 16f and handles most going apart from very soft; mark is easing. Heavy ground when he tailed off last time, following some mostly respectable AW efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (8/1 +20%)Merrijig |
8/1(+20%) | (7) Merrijig 8/1, Ran about to form when beaten 3 1/2l off 65 at Ripon last time. Effective over 2m and acts on any ground, though prefers some cut; handicapper is relenting. Blinkers were enlisted for last two outings, when beaten only about 3l; each-way claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (8/1 -33%)Taritino |
8/1(-33%) | (6) Taritino 8/1, Ran roughly to form when beaten 3l off 69 over 1m6f at Haydock last time. Likes to make the running; effective between 12f and 14f and acts on any ground; mark is easing. 2m hurdle win; unraced beyond 1m6f on Flat, respectable minor honours last three starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (10/1 -43%)Sanitiser |
10/1(-43%) | (10) Sanitiser 10/1, Carried his head awkwardly but produced his best run for some time when beaten 1/2l off 60 over 13f at Bath last time. Stays 13f, acts on good ground; not the most resolute but now well handicapped. Back to life with close third at Bath (1m5f; neck behind Harlington) 12 days ago, rallying. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (16/1 -88%)Officer Of State |
16/1(-88%) | (1) Officer Of State 16/1, Ran to form when second in a handicap hurdle at Plumpton last time; well beaten on his only British Flat start and difficult to assess with confidence. Needed his Flat run (33-1) at this juncture in 2024 before winning over hurdles next time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (20/1 -186%)Harlington |
20/1(-186%) | (11) Harlington 20/1, Ran to form when second, beaten a neck off 59 last time. Effective between 10f and 12f and handles any going; back in form with a workable mark. Two wins this term and beaten a neck 12 days ago; unraced beyond 1m5f but considered. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The Moores have four entrants and Officer Of State, who spent most of the winter over jumps, could be the pick of them. His hurdling form would give him a chance but the lack of a recent run might mean HARLINGTON is the safer option. Beaten a neck over 1m5f at Bath last month, the step up to two miles could elicit some improvement. Spiced Rum looks a huge danger having finished second at Southwell, but a 4lb rise may mean she has to settle for a place.

This is not an easy field to weigh up but MERRIJIG is preferred to Spiced Rum and Sanitiser.

11/1(-29%) | (7) Reader 11/1, 9 Apr; 15,000gns Mohaather filly; half-sister to Mgheera, high-class at 5f; dam smart at 5f; may just need the experience. Yard's 2yos running well this month but this newcomer is likely to improve for the outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/2 +36%)Caballo Grande |
9/2(+36%) | (1) Caballo Grande 9/2, 18 Mar; 40,000gns Ardad colt; half-brother to Just Frank, very smart at 6f; probably need the run. 40,000gns yearling; bred to have a future and he's not ruled out on debut. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

7/1(+13%) | (2) Obsidian Verse 7/1, Still green and finished with promise when fourth beaten 5 1/4l in a novice at Yarmouth last time; effective at 6f and may prefer a sound surface; bit more to come. Needs another step forward but he's from a family his trainer has done very well with. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (14/1 +13%)Castlekeely |
14/1(+13%) | (3) Castlekeely 14/1, Made too much use of and tired late when beaten 4 1/4l in a novice at Kempton last time; effective at 6f with speed in his pedigree; tall colt with a good attitude. Better effort last Wednesday on second start but further improvement is necessary. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (15/2 -7%)Funlover |
15/2(-7%) | (4) Funlover 15/2, 16 Mar; 6,000gns Bangkok colt; dam was useful at 8f; the yard can get them ready and he's worth watching in the market. From respected yard and market check is advised but this Bangkok newcomer may need further. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

With little form in the book, it may be worth giving SING THE BLUES another chance. The daughter of Space Blues let favourite backers down at Newbury last time, but her debut third was full of promise. There is a chance quick ground didn't suit at the Berkshire circuit, but she could bounce back under forecast easier conditions. Reader is an appealing newcomer in receipt of weight, and she might get the better of Caballo Grande for second.

The filly SING THE BLUES has had a break since being an unplaced favourite in July and she is taken to get back on track with a win.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (16/1 +0%)Lyra Lea |
16/1(+0%) | (8) Lyra Lea 16/1, Up in class but likely ran to her level when beaten 5 1/4l in a Fillies & Mares race here last time; effective at 7f, may prefer easier ground but acts on good; opening mark looks competitive. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (8/1 +43%)Swift Winds |
8/1(+43%) | (2) Swift Winds 8/1, Performance probably matched ability when beaten 4l off 82 at Newmarket last time; effective at 7/8f and handles fast ground; current mark looks just fair. Fourth in Newmarket nursery latest; it's possible she'll have more to offer now back here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (7/1 -100%)Authentic Charm |
7/1(-100%) | (9) Authentic Charm 7/1, Ran to form when fourth beaten 7 1/2l in a novice over 6f at Windsor latest; effective at 6f but may improve for 7f; acts on good to soft and good to firm; remains unexposed. Hasn't progressed from promising debut second but the step up in trip may well help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (8/1 -45%)Balthamos |
8/1(-45%) | (5) Balthamos 8/1, Raced a bit keenly but produced best effort so far when beaten 1/2l off 76 at Epsom last time; suited by 7f and acts on a sound surface; likeable type with more to come if relaxing better. Close second on nursery debut at Epsom a fortnight ago and he's a contender up 2lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (11/2 +39%)Amazing Journey |
11/2(+39%) | (1) Amazing Journey 11/2, Scored by 1/2l off a mark of 76 over 6f at York three starts ago; ran poorly last time but returns after a short break; suited by 7f and acts on any ground; should return to form. 10th (11) (50/1 -355%)Tinsel |
50/1(-355%) | (11) Tinsel 50/1, Improved again despite unsuited heavy ground when fourth beaten 6 1/4l in a maiden at Ffos Las last time; effective at 6/7f, probably wants further ideally; acts on soft and good to soft; workable mark. Yet to threaten but has shown ability and he's not ruled out on nursery debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Authentic Charm has shown promise so far, most recently when fourth at Windsor, so he must be of interest stepped up in trip and into nurseries for the first time. MAGNATURA won at Kempton in June before finishing second under a penalty at Ffos Las. Although last of four at Sandown latest, it is possible ground conditions were too testing and he could bounce back. Amazing Journey was denied a clear run in a stronger race at York last time and is another to consider.

Lots went wrong for CRAZEE ICON (nap) on her nursery debut at Chester but she was beaten just a short head and can go one better today.

Effective over 5f, suited by 6/7f, acts on any going and is generally consistent. Down the field in the Ayr Silver Cup but won over C&D earlier last month; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (3/1 +14%)Aberama Gold |
3/1(+14%) | (6) Aberama Gold 3/1, Ran to his best when third, beaten 2l off 86 last time. Ridden by a top course jockey. Suited by 6f, acts on any ground. His mark is easing slightly. Down the field latest but was trying 7f for first time; 3-8 previously; could bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (15/2 -114%)Righthere Rightnow |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (4/1 +11%)Wheels Of Fire |
4/1(+11%) | (8) Wheels Of Fire 4/1, Had a very poor trip and would have finished at least a length closer when beaten 2 1/2l off 82 last time. Effective over 5/6f, acts on heavy and good ground, consistent but on a fairly stiff mark. Won at Windsor last month and has had excuses since; could play a leading role. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (17/2 +23%)First Folio |
17/2(+23%) | (3) First Folio 17/2, Ran to form when beaten 3l off 87 at Yarmouth last time. Effective at 6f, acts on good to soft but prefers faster ground. In fair form. 7yo who has run some good races in defeat this season and can make a bold bid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (12/1 -20%)Thunder Blue |
12/1(-20%) | (4) Thunder Blue 12/1, Ran to form when second, beaten 1 1/4l off 85 last time. Effective over 6/7f and acts on any ground. Generally reliable but on a tough official mark. A win and a good second from her last two starts; this in-form C&D winner has solid claims. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Slightly unlucky when short of room before running on well in second at Newmarket last time, THUNDER BLUE could make amends. Jamie Osborne's charge was a comfortable winner at Salisbury the start prior, and his current mark of 87 looks manageable. Placed on three of his last four racecourse appearances, First Folio is entitled to be thereabouts again, along with Aberama Gold, who finished a creditable fourth in the Ayr Silver Cup on his penultimate outing.

The 3yo WHEELS OF FIRE has not had much luck on his two starts since winning at Windsor last month and earns the vote.

1st (4) (1/2 +12%)Poseidon's Warrior |
1/2(+12%) | (4) Poseidon's Warrior 1/2, From a yard with two wins in the last seven runnings of this race. Travelled best and just tired late when runner-up, beaten 3/4l in an 8f maiden at Haydock on debut. A big middle-distance colt who should be fitter and improve on his second start. 900,000euros yearling; green when second at Haydock (1m) just in front of Edwin Hubble. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

16/1(-14%) | (3) Knightsail 16/1, Produced a fair effort when beaten 7l in a 10f maiden here on debut. Stays the trip, handles soft ground and should improve. 18-1 in 1m2f maiden here (soft) 18 days ago, failing to threaten seriously before fading. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (9/1 +10%)Ranga Tang |
9/1(+10%) | (5) Ranga Tang 9/1, Ran fairly when beaten 5 1/4l in an 8f maiden at Newmarket on debut, appearing to prefer soft ground. Middle-distance bred and likely to appreciate some give; a big, gangly colt who will need time. 5th of 7 at Newmarket (1m, good) is fair form, with plenty to suggest he'd stay further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (50/1 -52%)Shadowmere |
50/1(-52%) | (7) Shadowmere 50/1, Raced too keenly early and showed inexperience when 7 1/4l third in a 7f novice at Sandown last time. By a middle-distance sire out of a sprinting dam; a little quirky and needs to settle to fulfil potential. 3rd of 5 at Sandown (7f, soft) last time but that form is no threat to today's principals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (28/1 -40%)Brave Leader |
28/1(-40%) | (1) Brave Leader 28/1, 25 Apr; 52,000gns St Mark's Basilica colt; half-brother to Daynawar, very useful at 14f; dam smart at 12f; worth watching in the market. 52,000gns yearling by St Mark's Basilica; dam 1m3f/1m5f winner, half-sister to Dalakhani. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

7/1(+0%) | (6) Roker Roar 7/1, 7 Apr; 65,000gns Galiway colt; dam very smart at 11f; top course jockey and leading trainer combination. 65,000gns yearling by Galiway out of a useful German 1m3f/1m4f winner; from a leading yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

A highly promising second on debut at Haydock last month when taking the measure of the reopposing Edwin Hubble (third), POSEIDON'S WARRIOR is open to any amount of improvement, and he can go one place better. Ranga Tang wasn't disgraced when fifth on his racecourse bow at Newmarket last month so he is considered, along with Roker Roar, whose yard know how to ready one first time out.

Edwin Hubble should be suited by the trip but POSEIDON'S WARRIOR, who beat him at Haydock, could be open to plenty of improvement.

16/1(+36%) | (9) Epictetus 16/1, Showed a better effort in blinkers when beaten 2 1/2l off 91 here last time. Suited by 1m and acts on any ground. Has struggled for form but his mark is easing. Back to some form when C&D third in first-time blinkers last month; each-way contender. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

HAFEET ALAIN was an impressive winner on his seasonal return at Sandown in May and, given the strength of that form, it would be no surprise to see him score again on his first start since. The recent C&D winner Cerulean Bay is an obvious threat despite a 5lb rise, while his stablemate Theoryofeverything should not be underestimated. The shortlist is completed by Alpha Crucis, Brighton Boy and Native American.

Unexposed 3yo BACK IN BLACK was third of 16 over 7f at Doncaster last time, shaping as though he could relish this first crack at 1m.

25/1(-178%) | (1) Our Golden One 25/1, Made too much use of when beaten 8l in a handicap at Newbury last time; effective from 10f to 12f and best with cut; tricky to assess accurately. Well treated on last year's form (including here) but disappointing in the main this term. |

DAY OF GRACE had plenty in hand when making a winning handicap debut over a mile at Thirsk last month and William Haggas' filly is very hard to oppose on the back of that performance, especially as she may improve further for this extra distance. Just Keep Flying is another unexposed filly to consider, while Ferrari Gold edges out Roarin' Success and La Scanderbeide to be best of the rest.

The unexposed 3yo Day Of Grace is a tempting option but this could go to course specialist PINK LILY.
Ths is the racecard key.
