(6) Industrialist
6Sam Twiston-DaviesHenry DalyBeaten 9l in a soft-ground Perth bumper 12 months ago but has pulled up in both hurdles at Aintree (2m1f, heavy) and Ludlow (2m5f, soft); now has some questions to answer.
(8) Top Kap
6Rex DingleAlan KingOutpaced and beaten 22l when favourite for an Exeter bumper and fared no better on his switch to hurdling at Lingfield (2m3f, good to soft) when easier to back at 16-1; reservations for now.
(7) Record High
7Ciaran GethingsSuzy SmithBumper winner more than two years ago; has had some lengthy breaks already in his career and has yet to offer much over hurdles.
(5) Galassian
7Charlie HammondMel RowleyHas been a long-time absent but still interesting as this winning pointer was easily best of the rest behind a now 141-rated horse in a 2m7f good-ground maiden at Worcester in October 2022; heed market signals.
(4) Illico De Cotte
6Kielan WoodsDan SkeltonIrish point winner; form figures of 221 in maiden hurdles (2m3f-3m1f) and the heavier defeats have come in a Grade 2 and last time when finishing weakly on handicap debut (3m1f, good; first-time cheekpieces); plenty to like at this level if returning to his best.
(3) Heros De Romay
7David BassKim BaileyNot at his best on handicap debut last time in January but had been coming along nicely until then, winning a Chepstow maiden and finishing third under a penalty at Wincanton; bred to improve with his racing and for this longer trip.
1st (2) Haiti Couleurs
7Sean BowenRebecca CurtisOnly blip so far over hurdles came in a Grade 2 and he made light work of his opposition in a 2m7f heavy-ground maiden at Chepstow a month ago; beat a horse who had been consistent in handicaps; major player.
2nd (1) Grand Albert
6Brian HughesDonald McCainWinning pointer who has shown steady improvement in each of his hurdle starts and comfortably made all over 2m3f (soft) here four weeks ago; has plenty of stamina in his pedigree and unlikely that he's reached anything like his limit.

With Galassian returning from a long absence this will probably concern the four penalised horses. HAITI COULEURS edges preference after his dominant display at Chepstow. Grand Albert (second choice) and Heros De Romay look to have bright futures ahead of them and both should be suited by this longer trip. Illico De Cotte has to put a below-par run behind him.[Alistair Jones]

(9) Black Market
10Joe WilliamsonJohn NortonRegressive maiden who has pulled up over fences and hurdles on his last two starts some 514 days apart; no obvious appeal.
(10) Glenavaddra
8Edward AustinGeorge BewleyWinning pointer just over two years ago; pulled up in both his chases and he's 29lb out of the handicap here; had wind surgery.
(8) Leading The Way
8Tabitha WorsleyGeorgie Howell15-race maiden; had some hurdle form in Ireland but tailed off in four runs for this yard, divided between hurdles and fences (from 2m to 2m4f).
(4) Tara Cove
7Theo GillardDonald McCainThree-time Irish point winner; promising fifth on his handicap debut over hurdles but then pulled up on chase debut (behind Nine Nine Nine) and again disappointed back hurdling here four weeks ago; now has a point to prove.
3rd (5) Le Grand Vert
8Brian HughesMicky HammondWinning hurdler in France; 0-14 over fences but good to see him post solid back-to-back efforts in defeat the last twice at about 3m; unlikely to be far away.
(7) On The Platform
8Lee EdwardsBelinda ClarkeHas won over hurdles but he's 0-16 as a chaser, regularly placed; his two non-completions for this yard came on heavy/soft ground and has run well otherwise on good and good to soft; drying conditions would bring him into the equation.
2nd (6) Caeruleum
6Harry KimberRobert WalfordEight-race maiden; runner-up on chase debut and again last time at Exeter (3m, soft), though was no match for the 17l winner; doubt he gave his running the time before when tailed off behind Nine Nine Nine and should hold some sort of chance.
4th (2) Nine Nine Nine
7Sean BowenSarah-Jayne DaviesHad a productive season in winning two chases and also accruing some place money; recent defeats suggest he might be high in the weights now and his best form has been shy of 3m.
1st (3) Dusautior
6Toby WynneOliver Greenall & Josh GuerrieroAwarded his point; just minor promise in three runs over hurdles before attracting market support on chase/handicap debut at Huntingdon (2m7f, soft; this new headgear combination) and running quite well to finish third after some untidy jumping; should have every chance here if finding greater fluency.
(1) Bampton Star
7Lorcan WilliamsJeremy ScottBeat a subsequent winner with the pair clear on his chase debut at Exeter (3m, soft) and had little trouble in defying a 6lb rise back there on heavy; up another 8lb but this 7yo would appear to be going places at this sort of level.

Jeremy Scott's BAMPTON STAR ran well behind a major improver on his final run over hurdles and has since impressed in both his chases. A hat-trick looks on the cards, perhaps at the expense of Dusautior who is one of the few of his rivals open to further progress. Drying ground would bring On The Platform into the equation.[Alistair Jones]

2nd (6) One Fine Man
9Robert DunneDeclan CarrollWell handicapped on his winning form just over a year ago when in a different yard; his penultimate third at Uttoxeter (2m4f, heavy) offered some encouragement but then had a backward step at Stratford (2m1f); others safer.
(4) Daly Tiger
11John KingtonL J MorganA regressive maiden who was beaten 20l when runner-up three runs ago and 16l when third last time in a first-time visor; opposable.
(1) Fast Buck
10Ciaran GethingsJane WilliamsNot that trustworthy these days but he beat a dual subsequent winner at Wincanton in January (1m7f, heavy) and rediscovered some form at Ludlow where he probably got at it with a rival too far from home; capable off this mark but not the percentage call.
4th (5) Charlie's Glance
8James MartinAndrew J MartinTravelled well throughout to win a small-field handicap chase at Huntingdon off just 2lb lower and his defeat at Fakenham was over hurdles at 2m4f; this race looks a better fit but he wouldn't want the ground too soft.
(3) Vicki Vale
7Kielan WoodsDan SkeltonDual hurdle winner who was consistent in handicaps; however, she didn't jump particularly well on chase debut at Plumpton (2m1f, good) and may appreciate further than this.
1st (7) Lipa K
6Toby WynneOliver Greenall & Josh GuerrieroCapable hurdler off this sort of mark for Evan Williams (won twice at about 2m); beaten when falling late on at Haydock in December but that race was won by last week's Aintree winner El Jefe; one to consider on chase/stable debut.
3rd (2) Grain d'Oudairies
8Brian HughesDonald McCainWas 3lb below his winning mark over hurdles when making it second-time lucky over fences in a 2m1f handicap at Market Rasen (good to soft; has won on heavy), where he made all to win by 16l; lightly raced and could easily cope with the 10lb hike.

Donald McCain's lightly raced GRAIN D'OUDAIRIES (nap) won with such authority at Market Rasen that he can defy the 10lb hike. Lipa K rates an interesting rival on his chase and stable debut, as he was very capable off this mark over hurdles. Fast Buck could run well but is rarely the percentage call these days, while the ground could be an issue for the otherwise much respected Charlie's Glance.[Alistair Jones]

(7) Jazz King
8David NoonanAlastair RalphSigned off for Sam Thomas with 12l win on chasing debut at Ludlow (2m4f, good to soft) in March 2023 but ran poorly when reappearing for new stable in February and it's hard to know what to expect from him here; cheekpieces/tongue-tie refitted.
(9) No Tackle
7Liam HarrisonRobbie LlewellynLeft disappointing stable debut a long way behind when winning readily in low-grade company at Leicester (2m6f, soft) in January; ought to have coped better with the heavy ground when last of three there in February but sports first-time cheekpieces here and may yet improve again for new trainer.
(2) Monte Igueldo
7Robert DunneGary HanmerWon two 2m chases for the Greenall and Guerriero yard in autumn 2022 but not seen since low-key stable debut over hurdles here last May and will need to be in peak form to have any chance off current mark.
(8) Jar Du Desert
5Charlie HammondNick KentChase winner in France last spring; yet to make a splash after four British starts but ran quite well when third of five at Huntingdon (2m7f, soft) last month and should be fine over today's trip.
4th (4) Grey Skies
8Brian HughesDonald McCainLooked stretched by 2m7f two starts ago but has been in good form over 2m-2m5f in recent months; lost out only by a short head in three-runner contest at Carlisle three weeks ago and remains on a workable mark.
1st (5) Cerendipity
7Nick ScholfieldSue SmithMade good start to chasing career in the autumn, notably when winning at Wetherby (1m7f, soft), and put two non-completions behind him when third at Catterick (2m3f, soft) in February; didn't see out 3m last month, having made bad jumping error at penultimate fence, but remains of interest.
(6) Hurlerontheditch
8Ciaran GethingsKim BaileyDominated from the front and was set for clearcut win before last-fence fall on seasonal/chase debut at Warwick (3m, soft) in November; two very disappointing efforts followed but he steadied the ship when keeping on from the rear for fifth at Ascot (2m5f, good) last month, despite jumping left throughout; will be suited by this return to a left-handed track and it will be interesting to see whether he reverts to much more positive tactics.
3rd (3) Whodini
7Toby WynneOliver Greenall & Josh GuerrieroWon four chases (2m-2m4f) on good/good to soft ground last year and returned from break with good second at Ayr (2m4f, good) six weeks ago; escaped from that with an unchanged mark and might still be on the upgrade; major player if the ground dries out for him here.
2nd (1) Ballycamus
7Sam Twiston-DaviesNigel Twiston-DaviesDual chase winner this season (2m3f/2m4f) and ran well in defeat over 3m here last month; holds no secrets from the handicapper but is pretty versatile regarding ground and ought to be right in the thick of things again.

Hurlerontheditch was unlucky not to make all on his chasing debut in the autumn and could be hard to catch if back in similar form here but the suggestion is WHODINI, who enjoyed a very productive 2023 over fences and looked as good as ever last month after a break. Ballycamus should also be on the premises, while Grey Skies and Cerendipity can both benefit from today's drop back in trip.[Chris Wilson]

(10) Trick Of The Tail
6Peter KavanaghDonald McCainPlaced off 2lb higher over C&D (good) on last summer's handicap debut but absent since a poor run in November and the ground may not dry out quickly enough for him today; had wind op in December; tongue-tie added.
(7) The Sad Shepherd
7Ciaran GethingsAlastair RalphIrish point winner in 2022; ran well for a long way in Hereford maiden hurdle (2m3f, soft) on last month's stable debut but raced awkwardly and lost ground quickly when coming under pressure; sports refitted tongue-tie/cheekpieces for this handicap debut; still unexposed but comes with risk.
3rd (11) Silverbridge
4Toby WynneOliver Greenall & Josh GuerrieroSafely held when making the frame in two juvenile hurdles in January (about 44l behind Torneo on latter occasion) and not obviously well treated on this handicap debut but his two promising Flat runs in Ireland last year offer hope he might be capable of better in this sphere.
(4) Present Fair
7Abbie McCainDonald McCainCaused 28-1 surprise at Uttoxeter (2m, heavy) in December, his fifth start over hurdles, but seems to have lost his way this year and drying ground may not be ideal for him here; tongue-tie fitted.
(5) Our Follet
5Sean BowenRichard HobsonWon a junior hurdle last season but chasing didn't go to plan in December (two attempts) and he was well beaten when switched back to hurdling last month; cheekpieces added today; needs to get career back on track.
(9) Badlands Boy
5Theo GillardDonald McCainKept on steadily for third in Sedgefield maiden (2m1f, soft) in February but was pulled up after some sloppy jumping at Huntingdon last month and has been deserted by Brian Hughes on this handicap debut.
4th (2) Thank You Blue
7Lewis StonesJennie CandlishWon Sedgefield maiden (2mf, soft) on stable/hurdle debut in November but has not yet kicked on from that success, and his first two handicap runs were no better than respectable; needs help from the first-time cheekpieces here.
2nd (1) Bucephalus
7Thomasina EystonNeil MulhollandFairly useful Flat-racer who came good over hurdles with clearcut success at Newbury (2m, heavy; first-time tongue-tie) last month; might be seen to even better effect if the ground dries out here; likely contender.
(6) Torneo
4Sam Twiston-DaviesJamie SnowdenMade all for wide-margin success in Wetherby juvenile hurdle (2m, soft) in January and ran well in defeat on handicap debut at Fontwell (2m1f, heavy) the following month; has a tendency to race a bit too freely but, otherwise, his claims are pretty solid.
(8) Camarrate
4Brian HughesDonald McCainWon on the Flat in September and delivered on earlier hurdling promise when winning against own age group at Fakenham (2m, good) this month; has more on his plate here but can cope with some lingering juice in the ground.
1st (3) Balhambar
5Paul O'BrienHarry DerhamFairly useful on the Flat and has improved with experience over hurdles; drew clear on run-in to make winning handicap debut at Ludlow (2m, soft) this month and has plenty of scope for further progress; good chance.

This can go to BALHAMBAR, who built upon his very encouraging stable debut when winning quite comfortably in the end at Ludlow this month and has plenty of scope for further progress. Bucephalus, another last-time-out winner, probably still has potential too and is feared most. Torneo should also feature.[Chris Wilson]

7Sean BowenPeter Bowen2-13 over hurdles, the latter win gained in a seller in autumn 2022; belied 80-1 odds when keeping-on fourth at Taunton (2m3f, soft; first-time visor) last month but others have much more convincing profiles.
(14) Konfusion
6Nick ScholfieldSue SmithNot beaten far when third of five on hurdle debut in summer 2022 but returned from long absence with two very underwhelming runs in January (2m-2m1f); still unexposed but needs to take a big step forward on handicap debut.
(8) Malpas
9Theo GillardDonald McCainWithout a win since 2022 and evidently not as good as he was but ran game race in defeat over fences here (2m1f, heavy) in February and will be suited by today's less testing ground; could have a say.
(6) Lily Glitters
8Alice StevensHenry DalyFour-time hurdle winner (3m-3m1f); back down to a workable mark and drying ground will aid her cause but she ended 2023 with two heavy defeats over fences and may find today's trip a bit sharp; had wind op during four-month break.
(7) Tregele
6David BassKim BaileyDropped out quickly at Plumpton last month and needs to prove his wellbeing here but significant positive can be drawn from his handicap debut in January and he remains lightly raced.
(2) Thank You Ma'am
5Miss Olive NichollsGeorgina NichollsWell beaten in valuable novices' handicap at Sandown last month but was placed four consecutive times beforehand, including when close second on handicap debut at Hereford (2m3f, soft); back in calmer waters here and a likely contender.
(4) Blazing Soldier
6Jamie HamiltonMark WalfordFinished tired on heavy ground at Carlisle in February but caused 16-1 surprise on rules debut at Newcastle (2m1f, soft) in January and remains unexposed; makes handicap debut here; can't be ruled out.
(5) Queshi Bridge
8Ciaran GethingsAlastair RalphEx-Irish mare who returned from long absence with two good efforts at Ludlow for new stable this year (2m5f/2m); didn't get very far at Hereford on Sunday but has possibilities if all goes to plan here.
(13) Kapamazov
7Ben PosteJames Evans0-6 over hurdles; both runs for new stable this year (2m4f/2m) were very respectable but he needs to find something extra here and others have more pressing claims.
2nd (9) Thankyourluckystar
8Jay TidballAlastair RalphNow back on same mark as when winning on handicap debut at Ludlow (2m, good) last March but is yet to strike form after three starts this season (remote when second on latest outing) and needs to up his game.
1st (3) Galunggung
8Brian HughesDonald McCainSeen only twice again since winning Irish point debut in 2021 but his hurdling debut in January 2023 was very promising and he returned from his latest absence with a narrow win at Hexham (2m, heavy) last month; up in trip for handicap debut; should have more to offer.
3rd (1) Yealand
5Luke ScottJennie Candlish2-4 since moving into handicaps, and was one of two to pull a long way clear of the others when scoring at Haydock (2m3f, soft) last month; another 6lb higher here but good 5lb claimer Luke Scott is enlisted; respected.
(12) Elle Est Beau
6Kielan WoodsDan SkeltonDisappointing favourite when upped to 3m last month and now 0-6 over hurdles but held narrow lead before last-flight fall at Sandown (2m4f, soft) two starts ago and has obvious claims if judged on that performance.
(11) Finn Lough
5Toby WynneOliver Greenall & Josh GuerrieroWon on Irish point debut in March 2023 and has displayed promise in three 2m hurdles this season; raced a bit too freely on latest outing but is open to improvement in handicaps and ought to be suited by today's step up in trip; had wind op in January.
4th (10) Far Sight
7Paul O'BrienHarry DerhamUnexposed 7yo who made promising handicap debut when third at Sandown (2m, soft) for the Hobbs and Johnson stable last March; not seen again since but it will be very interesting to see what Harry Derham can do with him.

Quite a few of these warrant consideration in a fairly competitive race for the grade but the most interesting one is unexposed 7yo FAR SIGHT, who made a very promising handicap debut for another stable just over a year ago and now represents a trainer with an excellent strike-rate. Yealand has made good progress in recent months and is feared most, while Elle Est Beau has strong claims if judged on her penultimate run.[Chris Wilson]

This is probably easier than the Newbury race in which DOCTOR KILDARE finished fourth against older horses in January and, with that experience under his belt, he looks the most obvious answer. Moon Over Clyro, Shady Wadey and Walk With Charisma (preferred in that order) are three newcomers with good credentials on paper.[Chris Wilson]
